Got three 1st rounders this year. So this draft looks like a big deal for me. This draft might determine how my team will look like in the next five years.

I hereby propose that the 76ers cannot draft Larry Bird.

God, the horror.

Hey man! Let me reap what I sow.  Smile I've been building this team for so many years now.. Very Happy

Anyway, I'm looking for a big guy in the draft to accompany John Tyler. I just dont think that my team has enough strength at the frontcourt position.

BTW, Im looking to trade my 1st rounder (sixers' 1st) this year. Anyone who is interested can talk to me via PM. I can trade my 1st along with my lottery this year Goudin or David Jonas. PLEASE DONT REPLY IN THIS THREAD. THANKS!

wonderful job bods...you managed to keep a good mix of the real and fictional players to please those who like one or the other.  I feel that your ratings are also very accurate, now who to draft with my perrenial top 3 pick

I was against this at first, but I think it breathes new life into the ssba, I predict a ton of activity now, because everybody wants their favorite player.

1st round picks are gonna have a lot more value from now on, I don't see too many people trading them like crazy, like has been a trend in the past.

So how do potentials work, does a guy like Dr J automatically have great potential since his ratings are a bit low, or is it more random?

This confusion is the exact reason I put this off for so long.

Quote
hese players will be similar to their real life counterparts in both physical size (Magic being a tall point guard) and gameplay style (i.e. Larry Bird a better shooter than slasher, Charles Barkley being a better scorer and rebounder than defender).  These files will not, however, be the same in terms of either potential or scope.  I.e. Barkley once again will be a better rebounder than defender, but he may not be a great rebounder and scorer.  He may be a 6th man type caliber player).  You cannot use how one turned out in real life to predict how they will do in SSBA.

Who they were in real life has no bearing on:
1) How good/bad they will be
2) Their potential to improve

It will have bearing on:
1) Their physical attributes (size, weight, position)
2) Their strenghs/weaknesses (being a better scorer than defender, better 3 pt shooter than slasher, rebounder than defender, etc)

Potential is random.  Dr. J could turn out to be Craig Smith.

Just to compare this draft to recent drafts...I have a list of 12 decent or better centers, and the worst one on this list would have easily gone in the top 15 in one of the drafts of the last few years. Not to mention the fact that there are 8753257 times as many players with C+ or better defense then there used to be.
