3 of the top 10 scorers in this league are fake.
8 of the top 10 in assists are fake.
4 of the top 10 in minutes played are fake.
6 of the top 10 in steals are fake.
3 of the top 10 in blocks are fake.
7 of the top 10 in 3 pt'ers per game are fake.
4 of the last 5 3pt shooting champions are fake.
4 of the last 5 dunk contest champions are fake.

First, the fictional player are cracking up the top tens cause majority of real time players are either 35 years old, past their prime or just have retired by now. Second, i didn't say that they aren't good. It's just that i don't trust them. I mean, besides Pettit name 1, a single franchise player drafted in the last 10 years! Heck, there is like a 1st overall pick every other year that turns into bust. Screw that.

You've got bigs that would be incredible on your team (John Tyler, Rex Mehta, Jose Siegel, etc).

I do have to admit that i haven't heard for single one of them. I don't think i could count 5 fictional players. I know about Pettit, Max, that Berkowitcz guy..and maybe some others. I just can't memoraize them, i haven't seen their faces. Smile

Uh...we probably won't agree over term "franchise player". I mean, under franchise i mean Mcgrady, Duncan, Garnett, Yao, Okafor, Jermaine, Shaq, Nowitzki, Jason Kidd, Marion, Amare, Hoffa etc etc.

Not bunch of stars/semi-stars. I mean Mason Mercer, score first pg with 5tpg? Koegen with B- defense? Please. They're all in Mike Bibby/Baron Davis category. Those are not franchise players.

And even if all of that is true, you still came with only 10 names during the 10 years period (!!). Now compare that to the real NBA draft during the last 10 years and you'll see how miserable this draft system really is. Heck, there was more quality players in one single draft year (when Iverson came) then 10 years here combined!

Sorry bods, but i have to disagree here: Who of these guys has even won a playoff series (and that's the least of achievements i'd like to see from a franchise player)

Barton O'Connell -> no playoffs in 3 full seasons
William Brice -> rode Dwight to 3 playoff appearances (one series won)
Patrick Gatling -> 34 player of thegame in 407 career games (???), 2 playoff series, none won
Vince Keogan - one won playoff series in two appearances, 42 POTG in 320 career games.
Antonio Lenard -> hey, he's good but didn't carry my squad so  far
John Tyler (not yet, but I think he will be).
Nicklaus English -> one title and another finals on behalf of Dirk. Hasn't done - and won - anything since
Trevor Wells -> please ...
Andre Stocker -> who's that ?
Antone Berkowitz (as a non-option this year, comp rec, he's putting up 18/11.5).
Troy Havlicek -> one playoff series, no win
Mason Mercer -> the poster child of underachievers. some playoff series, none won.
Max (will be) -> he's the closest to a franchise player among these but he's hardly the leader on his own team. But true, he might eventually reach Pettit status.

Again, sorry Bods, none of these players qualifies as a franchise player ...

Off course, we won't even mention the fact that outside od Pettit (but he also has a great team around him) there is no team in entire league since the beginning that was being led by a fictional player to the championships.

As i said, program produces (with Pettit as an exception) only so call stars, good role players but rarely, if ever, a true franchise player.

Is Tim Duncan a franchise player....I don't recall him leading anyone to a title.

T-Mac?

Kobe?

Garnett?

Yao?

Dwight Howard?

So maybe I don't understand the definition of a franchise player.  Could someone list the franchise players?

WEll, there is something inbetween leading a team to a title - which only one of 29 teams achieves each year - and barely making it to the post seasons, if at all, and having a quick exit.

Duncan i'd say is without any doubt, as i don't think any team would not be a lot better with him, despite the fact he didn't make the playoffs for some seasons with the Heat. (but he was a perennial playoff participant with the Sixers from 2007-09 when the Nets killed their dreams 3 years in a row, once in the CF, and returned there with the Kings last season)

Ok, I can help you out on this one. Here are players that everyone refers to when they talk about franchise players:
Brand, Gordon, Maggette, Chandler, Kwame, Ward, Prince, Perry,...
