I like it for the Hawks, but ONLY because of the youth.  Kobe's the best player, and I don't see mercer or hav playing sg.

But Hav's young, and the sonics pick could be real good.  They're in a rebuilding mode with all those retirements, and struck out in free agency.

But I don't think Hav's ever been as good as his ratings.  Frankly, outside of that one season where he averaged a double double (and shot 41%, 35% from 3) he's been pretty average.

As i mentioned in the trade thread:

Can't you please, please, please play a backcourt of Mercer and Hav, just for ONE sim. Do us the favor, that's a once in a lifetime chance you got here.

Imagine 6'5" Lincoln Lord and 6'4" Pettit or 6'3" Hinrich and 6'8" Deng looking for the opponent, completely forgetting to look down for the guys running circles through their legs ...

And i'm pretty sure, these matchups would be closer than expected, too, the little ones can defend !

But we GOTTA FIND OUT ...

Man, that Sonics pick could be huge. That alone might be worth Kobe down the line.

This trade is more of an experiment for me than anything.  I'm a realist and with the Hornets, Nets and Pacers I have a extremely slim chance of winning the east and I frankly am not content with somehow slipping into the playoffs as the 8 seed and getting swept.  With that said, I hope moving Mercer to the 2 will cut down his to's and his quickness can give opponents problems.  Hav is a good rated player who has never played to his ability.  He's young and I'm hoping he comes into his own as one of the elite points in the league.  My perimeter defense should be good against the average SG's but against guys like Petit, Marion and other elite SG's, where Kobe didn't do anything to slow them down anyway.  Kobe was good for me and I think he might fit nicely back in Phoenix.  He's a good player still but is aging and Hav gives me the youth.  I'm not putting too much on the Sonics pick because he's one of our better gm's and I think that he will end up fielding a good team by year's end.  I expect and mid teen pick and a late 1st out of the deal.
