If you really made battier your backup SG - he never played there. I checked the mins and he played all at SF with jamison taking the rest.

Where do you see a minute by minute positional breakdown?

If you're simply talking about the position listed in the boxscore, all that shows is the position he was at the FIRST time he entered the game.  Which makes sense, since he started the game at SF.

My DC looked like this:
SF: Battier, Jamison, Jamison
SG: Pettit, Battier, Pettit
PG: Boykins, Salmons, Boykins.

I agree with Pacers:
in game 1 Boykins played 37, Pettit 39 and Salmons 21 minutes. there are no minutes at PG and SG left for anyone else ... exactly the same goes for the other games

but of course it can mean Pettit played some SF (for whatever reason FBB puts him there) and Battier some SG ... but that's pure speculation since Pettit wasn't listed at SF.

wow if your lineup was like that FBB is making a lot of fun. you will never know who will enter the court. if you count the mins everyone played at PG,SG and SF there is no way that battier played a single min at SG but maybe TOm is right and pettit played some SF also...

i can only guess why it was salmons who played at SG but it could have been snow or someone else who was on the aktive list but not on the depth chart.

If Pettit played 39 minutes at sg then Battier played 9.

He's listed as a SF because that was the position he started the game at.

Bods, please, use some maths !

Again i take just game 1 vs. Hornets as example:
Earl played 37 minutes, we can assume all at PG
Pettit played 39 minutes, all at SG
-> that leaves a whopping 11 minutes for someone else at PG and 9 minutes at SG, a grant total of 20 minutes.

now Salmons played 21 minutes

unless Salmons, listed as backup PG on the DC played SF, ther isn't a single minute left for Battier to move down to the 2 spot.
and this is valid for all 6 games.

Logical conclusion: Battier stayed at SF all the time

So you're saying Salmons played at a position he wasn't listed at (SG), but couldn't have played at a position he wasn't listed at (SF)?

I'm not following your logic on how you guys KNOW you're right.

Maybe here's what happened.  Battier played first string SF.  Then came in from 2nd string SG.  His stamina wouldn't let him play any more SF, so his starting shifts got cut short.  So that means Salmons had to shift over and play some SF (Since Jamison's minutes didn't drastically increase, and he was already slated for 2 SF shifts).

Point being, Pacers made a fairly declarative statement like he KNEW what happened.  When in fact the scenario I layed out (Salmons picking up SF minutes because Battier's shift was cut short because he was first string sf and 2nd string sg) is more than feasible.  Certainly not infeasible enough for a declarative statement made like the one pacers did.

Personally, I think my scenario (which goes in line with the DC I submitted) is a little more viable than yours and the Pacers scenario (which arbitrarily played players at positions I didn't list them at).

Sonics asked me to go ahead and sim all 7 games, barring any injuries.  So I went ahead and did that, since I had no changes to my roster.

I must say, I'm kinda relieved.  I thought for sure I'd choke away another game 7.  Pretty even series, no team won 2 straight, and only one blowout (and boy was it a blowout).

But seriously, well done. It's about time. If it were me, I would be having a party right now.

Great series Bods....since I won it last year, I am happy to see you take it home.  Although, it would have been nice to bring the title back to Seattle.

I figured that there was no need to do the finals over the course of two days (especially since I hadn't changed my roster in over a month!) so Bods simmed it all tonight.

Once again...congrats.

at the moment i see two faults in your logic. The first one is that salmons played SG proven at game 5 even if he wasn´t listed there. If battier took also some mins that would mean that you had 3 guys playing at SG without any injuries or foul troubles. Normally FBB use only 2 for the same position. The second one is imo why should FBB put him at SF where he was also not listed more than at SG? You had already two guys playing at SF. so i guess that battier never had the time to play SG since he was more needed at SF.

I honestly didn't question who was the best team this year (and last year for that matter). I don't care what team you are, the Nets are gonna gouge you. The only thing I am upset about is that I didn't take the series to 7 games. CONGRATS NETS!

(and yes, it hurt to put the exclamation point on that last sentence)

Congrats NETS and shane! I am really shocked that a guy like shane had 20 in the most important win of hsi career. His career best is 23 Shocked
Sonics did a nice job handling pettit and okafor but had troubles to findsome who could score next to dirk.

Hail  HAIL TO THE NEW CHAMP !  Hail

and has there ever been a team more deserving, dominating the regular season over the last three seasons now.

I must admit, after game 2 i thought it's over, since the Sonics hadn't lost on their home court in the playoffs for 2 seasons until game 4 came around. And must it have been sweet for them, going the distance with a dramatic game 7 victory (well, dramatic in it was a game 7, the game itself was over after 20 minutes or so) to bring home the first title.

Now break up those Nets and Sonics ...
... and let anyone else have some finals appearances ...
 Cool

and being an IT guy, isn't it sweet that this is my kilobyte post ...
