What a shame.

One of the top PG in the league is dealt for a lesser replacement on his last legs, a draft pick and some fillers. At the senior age of 28 no less. Is that's really all he's worth ?

(And we all know that Raptors tried EVERYTHING, and I mean it in the sense of "making proposal for each and every one of the possible 232.567.388.991.100 trade scenarios with every one of the other 28 teams", to get something more for poor Baron)

So why do the Raptors STILL come out winner in this deal ?

Well, first of all they immediately lose 18 TOs a game and get back a PG who's one in the truest sense of position definition. And the pick might actually be worth something since ...

... it will be great fun to watch the Bucks now. They've had some troubles with the co-existence of Kobster and Ferry and just aquired a PG who, if not gives the ball away, needs to hold the rock. Expect some internal fighting in practice and an official team timekeeper during games who tracks and makes sure, Ferry, Kobe and Baron have exactly the same "ball time".  Wink

I don't see this working all too well for the Bucks, but let's get the TV on and wait and see ...
 Cool

While I agree with most everything you've said Celtics, I'm just not sure if Baron is on of the top PG's in the league anymore. His defense is amazing, but he really doesn't do anything else well.

The draft pick has the potnetial to be very good too, and I cut a couple contracts giving me some good cap space.

What's a shame is that the Raps had like a 60+ win season last year and now probably won't make the playoffs.

Factoring in 2 high lottery picks (hopefully), I will still have 10.8 million to spend in FA.

However, if the Spurs old their position, their draft pick will be paid less and I will have enough to offer a max contract Smile

Win-win.

Is it really a shame to pile on two lotto picks, and cap space with the best fa class ever?

Is it a shame to have the potential to be the best team SSBA has ever seen next year?

It's worth the risk.

I could honestly have Yao-Chandler-Deng-top 5 pick-top 5 pick With Diddle, Nash and more off the bench.

Nash feeding Yao is just disgusting.  The best passing man in the game feeding the best big man in the game.  Welcome to the assist title, Mr. Nash.
The fast pace will likely work well for the Raptors.  Giving up lots of defense, and getting backing better ball handling.  Interesting trade-off.

For the Bucks, well, something is not working.  And this gives them, by far, the best defensive backcourt in the league.  Kobe and Davis are a great defensive combination.

Could work, could backfire for both teams...  very interesting.

That's the way I see it.  I learned about FA these past 3 years.  Tempting, but no guarantees.  That's why I didn't worry about cap room for next year.  While I did great this offseason, I still only did so because I overpaid a 31 year old that nobody else was willing to give big bucks/longterm deal to.

and now because the other trade didn't go through, raptors don't have enough room on their roster for this trade.
