Bulls Trade:
Marko Jaric Corey Hoiberg Bo Outlaw Bulls '10 First
for
Jamal Crawford
I agree. Reasons after Bulls agree
Edited to add that I cut Eric Snow & Darius Songaila to make it work (posted in the appropriate thread)
EDIT to agree to Bo Outlaw instead of Brian Cook

*BO OUTLAW SIGNED INSTEAD OF BRIAN COOK*
I agree
Essentially, I traded my '10 1rst (which could still be very high) for Crawford as Jaric wasn't going to play because of Mercer/Fab, Hoiberg wasn't going to play because of Palacio/Turk/Hinkle and Cook was a filler I just signed. Jaric was an expiring contract but I won't have any cap for a while after I resign (hopefully) Mercer and Griffin
Crawford is going to be the 3rd scorer on this team now that Pierce is gone. If it doesn't work out with Crawford, his contract is still relatively short, so I have some leeway there. I think my team is in decent shape, I got some good young talent, solid vets, and good developing talent

I did this trade for 2 major reasons - to get most of Crawford's salary off the books by the end of this year (thus giving me even more cap space then I was already going to have) and to get younger for my rebuilding process.
The Bulls pick could still be lotto (not likely but they do seem to have bad luck) and I also get a decent young SF prospect in Hoiberg - who fits perfectly into the outside focused offense that I am looking to build.
I was quite disappointed in Crawford the last two seasons. For a guy that I was looking to build around, he always underacheived for me. Perhaps it was our terrible team or the offense that we ran but he never quite fit in the way his ratings would suggest. Perhaps that will change with the Bulls and make me look like a fool, but I was never very pleased with him and at least I got some potential pieces out of him.

Works for both teams. Knicks get a likely lottery pick, and some more cap space. Bulls get a nice scorer, who will probably play best as a 3rd option. Gives the Bulls one of the shortest backcourts in the league.

Gives the Bulls one of the shortest backcourts in the league. Well Crawford is 6'5'' which isn't bad for a SG, but I think I'll have the lightest backcourt in the league. An average weight of 188 lbs

Small backcourt?
Earl at 5'5" and Pettit at 6'4" easily beats that.

It's not like I double checked each roster to make sure my statement was correct We can trade backcourts if you want, like they say, you can't teach size

And yet, Earl Boykins, the incredible 31 year old, goes up 3 abilities... Just ridiculous. I am putting a wind machine near the court when I play the nets, hopefully it will knock him off balance.

well, as long as earl doesn't turn the ball over when you knock him over... I will use the wind machine to keep him from crossing half court in time... And that was the last comment for this current thread hijacking. Knicks now will have 25-30 million in cap space next year. Along with two draft picks, one guaranteed lottery pick. A nice new start is coming for the Knicks.
