and by far the worst record.  Yet they had the 4th draft pick.

well, a lot of guys left big money to sign for lesser elsewhere, Donta Smith, Jason Collier, Lavar Piatowski, Larry Benoit, I gave Pavel a lucrative long term offer.....this sucks, but now I just have to look and see what I can salvage, not all hope is lost.

I might still be interested in working something out like we talked about.

seems what happened to you happened to me last year with Chamberlain (just to a much, much larger scale).

Turned down longterm deals worth more money for more money this year.

In a smaller scale it's what happened this year with Finley.

Yessss.....

Lavar is a major pick up for me at the 2, he will be my backup for sure. He was my #1 target this offseason.

Here is my strategy for Pavel: the guy has a huge loyalty rating, and I feel like it was just bad luck that he didn't offer me a decent contract; I think that it's just a matter of time before he offers me a decent deal. Therefore, I offer him an "outrageous" 1 year deal with the belief that he will come around. Furthermore, if someone is looking to dump an aging vet for an up and comer, well, Pavel is available...  Wink

I am surprised that the Clipps didn't sign Piatowski.

Thrilled to get Ruffin for the MLE...  He is actually a natural PF, and will be a perfect back-up for Swift.  Played quite well as a back-up last year for the Clippers .

he's a nice pickup, I also offered him my MLE.

For the 3rd straight year, Sampson took my LLE

why not offer him a little bit above the LLE and save the LLE for someone else?

had to take the BPA with the MLE. And Ostertag just signed with me. Interesting.

I'll likely make a move for a PF.

Finley, Ruffin, Piatkowski... seems like my players are welcomed with open arms around the league.

To be honest, I learned a lesson from the Finley-thing. I wanted to re-sign him, but his contract did not allow me to offer him a lot. So now I know I can change 2nd year contracts for 2nd round draft picks. That would have been a big difference. Though I realize (too late) that I could have given him the MLE. Too late, too bad.... good luck to Finley on his new team.

Majorly happy to re-sign Gordon. Him and Childress are the future here in LA. Both great scorers with A defense and potential.

I really like some of the signings: Chamberlain for the Cavs, Finley for the Raps, Boykins for the Nets, Sampson for the Bucks, Piatkowski for the Hornets....

Didn't the Hawks have the worst record in the league last year?

God, am I happy to have Earl.  I think now I should obviously still be able to win rebounding.  but now I should be able to win the turnover battle.  I should be able to make more three's.  I should be able to win bench production, and I should be able to shoot better from the field.

Welcome Earl, to the long list of Nets pg's.  Chauncey was great, and at 2 years started by far the longest.

Nets starting pg's:
Jason Kidd (never played)
Leandro Barbosa (2005)
Antonio Daniels (2006)
Earl Watson (2006)
Gary Payton (2006)
Chauncey Billups (2007-2008)
Earl Boykins (2009-?)

Looking at my past, I loved ballhandler's.  Sebastian Telfair started all my tenure in the old league, and was basically a better ballhandling Boykins, with much better defense but less offense.  Then I had Daniels, whom I regret giving up.  Last year I went after Chamberlain, who wasn't nearly as good as boykins (offensively, defensively, and less of a ballhandler).  I'm quite happy to have Earl, indeed.

Turns out I was wrong.  Sampson didn't take my LLE anyway.

I learned that same lesson with Piatowski. It SUCKS, doesn't it. I mean, here I am, every year (except this one) stumbling around at the SG position and there is Piatowski who was MY player, on a different team because I couldn't offer him enough. Same with Bradley Bee.

Hell, I lucked out on Lovelette, Celtics offered him more.

And I am just so thrilled to get Finley. PF was a huge hole for me after trading Mihm, but I just found my starter, likely, depending on TC. I really feel like I just got a lottery pick. Where would he have gone in the lotto....top 5? And this really, really helps me out with FA next year...I could have 9-10 mil in cap space with a starting C, PF, SF and PG already.
