Are we allowed to do that?

I don't see what the problem would be. If the Sonics 1st round pick ends up being one of the top 3, then the trade is simply skipped and forgotten about.

But why hurry then? You could do this after the draft order, right?

We could. But from my side, it wouldn't make a difference to me as I'd have to re-sign Barry beforehand either way. So I might as well have it agreed upon now. I would completely understand if we can't do the deal because of that condition, the pick being top 3. But if we wait until after the draft order is announced to post the trade, and the pick is like # 9 or 10 but the Suns just changes his mind, then that's a different story... Smile

i know we aren't allowed to put conditions on draft picks, but the order will be out before the deal can be processed anyway so it doesn't really matter

Right, but this is just so that the trade has been agreed upon and is ready to go. In the unlikely scenario in which the pick ends up top three, this trade will just be passed up on. No big deal.

typical, conditions aren't allowed.  With the one exception being right before and during the current draft.

For example, if that was for the Sonics 2010 first round pick top 3 protected, that we don't do, because it's a bookkeeping nightmare and influences what picks are tradable in the future.

to avoid that problem you both probably could have PMed Bods with that condition anyway.

of course, i don't think anybody really cares about the conditions of the deal since they're sensible.
