Ah, sorry...  Forgot about the Billups deal...
So, the JKidd deal, the Dalembert deal, and the Billups deal...

Since you traded the 1sts and the 2nds for practically nothing (aka cap space), going to have to not count those...

If I had to guess, I would say you were 2nd to last in trading activity to the Blazers???

Not that there is anything wrong with that   Wink

Luck has been on your side as well...

If it's working, why trade? That's my philosophy.

Luck?  Let's go over this.

Trade 1:
Kidd + Jefferson for Boozer and Humphries
People initially told me I got ripped on this...until they figured out what I was trying to do.  There were 5 or so other teams with cap room.  4 of them had more room than me.  I traded 5 million more in salary than I received, and found the one team that had cap space willing to absorb the salary.  By doing so I had more cap room than anyone, and got the centerpiece of my team (Okafor).  Hawks were probably furious with me, as they were far and away the leaders to get Okafor.  Heck, they should probably have Okafor and Pettit, lol.  But I leapfrogged them to get Okafor, and they passed over Pettit.

Trade 2:
Humphries + Zo for an expiring.  This eventually got me Battier with my cap space (without this trade I would have been right at the cap).

Trade 3:
Boozer for Daniels + #3
Another trade people thought favored the Raptors.  Said Daniels was pretty much worthless (I ended up trading him for a lottery pick), and Boozer was a 22/10 pf with A potential.

Trade 4:
#3 for Dalembert.
People really thought I got ripped on this one.  Dalembert was considered "nice", but not worth the #3.  But I've been top 3 in the league in opp fg% every year since.

Trade 5:
Daniels for Bulls pick (lottery).
Great return on investment IMO (although I eventually gave this pick away as compensation for my Shaq screwup, lol)

Trade 6:
Expirings + 1st round pick for Payton + Watson
This was the trade that allowed me to do #5.  Watson proved to be a great player for what I needed, and led me to a 52 win season.  Unfortunately, I went big on the first day of FA, ignored him, and lost him to the heat

Trade 7:
Cato for Billups
Effectively used cap room to land an all-star pg.  Was a bit lucky though, as Nuggets were desperate for a big.

The only one I'd really consider luck is Pettit.  Outside of that, I wouldn't say it's been luck.  But no, i'm not overly trigger happy on trades.

I actually just went back and looked at it again - touche, it was effective. I saw you break out the dictionary (which I still don't agree with, because I think that if I'm 19, I'm not a teenager, but it's probably more of a socialization thing than a def'n). I didn't see all the people agreeing with you after Smile

You have many many more trades then I thought... many of them were before I was a GM here, though, so I missed them...   Embarassed

I did not mean luck in the trades, I meant luck in TC's...
Dalembert - from his initial D rating, he has gone up 5 ability levels...  No one could have seen that one coming

Pettit - Has raised 5 ability levels since drafted, although not shocking, since he did have an A potential, and was only 20 years old.  Bu that is better then the average for an A potential.

Emeka - has raised 5 ability levels since signed, although also not that unusual, considering his A potential.

Battier - has gained 2 ability levels since you have picked him up, started off at B potential.  Not unusual...

Billups - Has gained 2 ability levels since you have acquired him...  suprising and lucky, considering one of those was in defense, right afetr he was acquired.  Being 28 with C potential, those increases I would consider lucky...

Your starting 5 has gotten better, consistently, through training camp.  That is the luck part, not the moves you have made.  All the moves were well thought out, imo...

Only the Clippers and the Hornets have had TC's that good...  And those are mostly driven by the absolutely incredible TC's of Gordon and Livingston.

Lol...  your players have had crazy TC's...  Good thing Yao has gone up 3 abilities in the last 2 TC's...  Baron has been all over the place, and Peja has been consistent dropper...  Mihm is up 2 since the start...

Mihm hasn't had good TC's for me. His shooting percentage was much nicer last year when he was at B- inside. 41.8% is pretty bad.

At least Baron is back to A+ defense now.

And yeah, Peja keeps on dropping. Don't know what I will do if the defense goes to C+.

IMO I was actually very active the first two years.  Since then I've had a starting 5 I've been happy with.  Since then I've been relatively calm, tradewise.

Although there have been times I've been close.  Last year when Utah was ready to break up their team, I wanted Kirilenko in the worst way.  And this deadline I was actually very heavily considering a trade.  But for the most part, I'm hesitant.  3 50 win seasons will make one less likely to jump at every trade Wink

This is the year though.  After this year, I'm no longer a player in free agency, so I'll probably be more inclined to do deals.  For example, at this deadline I turned down a deal primarily because I'd have 5 mil less in FA.

Sunday's my big day, when we find out who will hit the market.  I really want to land a marquee free agent this year.

Lol...  Condsidering how much you complained about your TC, and yet...

Brad Miller stayed the same (center)
Gooden went up 1
Marbury stayed the same
McGrady went down 1
Moiso dropped 2 (but he had gone up 3 the previous TC)

Not much to complain about there...
