Sonics Agree.

This deal started with a simple Hoiberg/Diddle swap.  Then, not really needing Stockton anymore, I acquired what could be a very high lottery pick in this very deep and talented draft.

Hoiberg didn't get off the bench this season, and Stocktod did not do much either.

Diddle steps in immediately as Trent Kundla's main backup.  Ervin Johnson will likely be released.  Desmond Mason...we'll see.

All in all, it's an improvement, I think.  However, the Suns did nice by acquiring two solid young players.

By the way...Diddle was pick #5 three drafts ago and Hoiberg was pick #4 two drafts ago.

I like it for the Sonics. Hoiberg isn't so good anymore...

Hoiberg for diddle makes sense.  Swap 2 of the biggest underachievers in the league for each other (you think tanner was a disappointment at #1, at least he's producing).  But I'm not sure Stockton was worth the #1.  But, then again, if he jumps to A- outside and A- defense, he would be.

well, well, well,

Stockton, he of the 9pt/5rb/2as CAREER high for a 1st round pick. That might be way too much, but the jury is still out on him.

Diddle for hoiberg was a win-win deal I think. Chase did nothing but lose ratings since being drafted but still is a solid big man backup. And Diddle probably just needed a change of scenery.

if it weren't for the pick this would be a perfect deal ...

It depends on the range of the pick.  If the Suns make the playoffs, very good trade for them.  If not, they still have a player who will be a nice young and talented SG.

Stockton did improve his ratings 4 ability leevls in the past 2 TC's.  That is nothing to sneeze at, proving his A potential he started with was true.

Diddle is very deceptive.  Good ratings, rotten production.  Even if he did produce in points, he is an iffy ball handler and terrible rebounder.

All said...  for a possible lottery pick in this draft, Kundla would have been a more fair exchange instead of Stockton...
