Celtics agree

and additionally cut
Rodney White
Andrew Sedran
to make the locker room less crowdy (and avoid having that Baly guy dress in the hallway)

This is a tough trade for the Sonics, sending two very promising rookies away for basically a backup point guard and a top-five pick in the upcoming draft (a weak draft at that).

Here are my reasons:

1. Lenard and Geiger are tremendous offensive players that are awful on the defensive side of the ball.
2. Once I deal Giricek, I will have the money to go after two top FA.
3. Eisley is a guy who can help immediately like Payton did two seasons ago.
4. Lenard was my #3 SF (Deng and Dickau)
5. Geiger was my #3 SG (Kundla and Stockton)

This is definitely a risk.

Let's hope it works.

interesting deal, the Celts get 2 pretty specialized guys, (Lenard B+ inside, Geiger A outside), but adds to the young core...the Sonics will probably get the #1 pick in this years draft and I think it's a good deal for both, Sonics have a load of young guys and Celts need more than just that 1st pick to get better sooner

The sonics use their great depth to net them what will most likely be the #1 pick in the draft. The Celtics get a couple of very good young guys here. I think Sonics win out, though.

Lenard has a chance to be an AMAZING offensive player.  But man, he needs to pick up his defense.  If he has a C+ rating even while forcing 1 steal per 18 minutes, it must mean his man defense is terrible.

But seriously, he could bend up being an A- B offensive player.

I personally probably like George Boykins more than Lenard.  But after that, I think Lenard could go #2 in this draft.

no secret, why I made this deal:

three young promising guys for one young possibly very promising guy. A no brainer in my rebuilding situation, especially since I have huge holes to fill at SG and SF!

Update sunday:
So, after a night's sleep and some time for reflection went by, I also realize - if I recall history correctly here - that this might be a Ferry - MoPete desaster waiting to happen to the Celtics again. But since I don't even see any borderline Ferrys (and not even the #1 selection is guaranteed), I'm willing to take that risk.

My team will miss the great donuts from Sedran though, but I told them it's ME making the deals here ...  Wink

i reallylike this for both teams.
with lenard and geiger the celtics will get two young scoring players woh will fit nice with eddy and snow.
for the sonics it is also a great trade since they will get their PF in boykins and have enough cap to go for some vets
