iggy and kim still are young and improving and the the celtics 09 pick is possible a lotto pick
but carmelo is already a great scorer and will give me a great option of the bench

My reasoning is that I need guys to improve and I'm gonna need more than Melo to help me get over the hump...Without Melo to sign I'll have a lot of cap space to work with allowing me to ge 4-5 good players to help along with my Sonics (crossing my fingers for lottery) and Celtics (lottery hopeful) next year in which I'm hoping the draft class will be better....I could have got a better player for Melo but I think the Pacers gave me what I was looking for

Well, everyone knows my opinion of top draft picks right now, so I shouldn't have to say who I think won.

Man, the Pacers are going to be jacked.

Of course, I'm guessing there's another trade on the way.

Boooo...  Boooo...   Razz
Pacers are now also ready for a big trade...
Carmelo, Jamison, Artest, and Redd is alot of talent (and money) at the swing positions.  Not enough time for them all.

Hawks must have been scared to death Carmelo would not sign.
While Iggy is a nice prospect, he is not ready to start yet.  Neither is Kim...  Although that pick looks good right now, depending upon the Celtics free agency pick-ups.

I'll agree that I got the worst of this deal but I think it gives me a chance to get players in FA that I haven't been able to do yet because of Allan Houston...also I have Tayhsaun to replace Melo which isn't bad because Tayshaun is a better outside shot and defender than Melo

Ah shucks.

I guess this means (since Carmelo's highest ratings is Play for Winner) that Carmelo is more likely to re-sign.  He was my #2 target this offseason.

Wow, Prince comparing to Melo is an interesting concept. I think this is a deal that will get the Hawks back to my level.

It will be interesting to see what Iggy can do as a starter though, as his next good game will be his first this year. So for the Hawks this all hangs on my ability, to get my coveted franchise player. If I do, then the pick will be worth way less and this deal called terrible ...

Boy, you're never satisfied, are you? A shut-down SF isn't good enough, you have to have a star.  Razz

well I expected this criticism and it's well deserved but I'm gonna go back to the old way I viewed things when I won the championship as some of you SSBA vets remember...My team that I have now is not what I'm looking for at all...this trade is basically me just starting over and Melo isn't the player I need to turn this things around, he's not consistent (he's had sims where he averaged 8 pts and sims where he's averaged 25) and he doesn't stop opposing SF's (he had 45 scored on him twice).  Iggy isn't going to be a centerpiece unless he improves a whole lot in TC...Tanner, Schenk and Prince are players that I need...my old philosiphy is coming back and give it 2 or 3 seasons before i get the team I really want

I really appreciate THAT patience, I really do. Everyone winning all the time at all costs doesn't work ...

... there have to be teams like us to put things into perspective.  Crying or Very sad  Confused  Smile  Very Happy  Laughing
