I agree.

It nets me Kobe, a premiere 2 guard, and a necessary cornerstone.  I had already gotten Calinoff, a 2/3 prospect from the Heat.  

I give up expirings and a pick that will probably be in the Top 10, but the draft is perimeter oriented mostly and I wasn't sure what I'd be getting even at #4 (which is where I currently stand).  Kobe should improve my standings to mid lottery.

I've got one of the best backcourts in the league now, locked in for at least 3 more years, and a decent young big in Harpring, and a project swingman in Calinoff.  Despite trading the expirings, I still have 10 million or so in space this offseason.  If I can sign a competent big, I should be a playoff team next year.

the bucks got a true star without giving too much NOW. They're better for sure, but with a young frontline of Zaza and Jamal, Tinsley and the Kobster will have a lot of doubleteams waiting for them.
With this deal the Bucks officially took themselfs from being a max player in FA. And with no draft talent coming for them this year, they are still some trades away from a sure playoff berth even next year.

The Suns officially entered mode "rebuilding" here going for cap space and young draft talent here. As they are still some deals away from sufficient cap space this wont be the last we heard on the trade front as well - which wont be easy without giving up on the last true star player KMart.
Still, the outlook is a lot brighter now that the massive (as in massively overpaid in my opinion) contract is off the books and if the high draft pick pans out this will be a borderline playoff team next year again ...

Kobe for Diddle and a lottery pick? Doubt that's worth it. The expirings don't do anything because it looks like Phoenix still will not be significantly under the cap this off-season.

I'm happy to see kobe go,

He's still a good player, but he was eating a huge amount of my cap room, and would have continued to do so.

In addition to that, I've seen a distinct decline in Kobe's production. he's lost 3 pts from his scoring ave over the past 3 years.

Some people think that maybe i dident get enough for Kobe but i dident get any other suitable offers(except for the Hawks) but i liked this deal better.

I wont be under the cap any time soon, Due to a poor decision i made in trading for Hamiliton, but at leats my whole cap wont be tied up in 3 players anymore.

i think my young team (Hav,Lo,Terp,and Diddle)along with a lottery pick, and Martin and a bench of Hamiliton and McDyess can compete. next year.

But i'm excited to see all the comments, and what everyone thinks.

Being a max player in Free Agency with a team as bad as mine likely didn't mean much, since players will either resign or find a team with a better record.  And instead of having the ability to throw the max at Wade/LeBron/Carmelo, I "only" have 10 million to throw instead.  

If Calinoff and Harpring (who CelticsGM apparently forgot existed ) have prosperous TCs, I don't see any reason this team couldn't make the playoffs in the East next year (to this point it's only 4 losses back of 8th this season), even if I only add players like Pachulia/Donta Smith with exceptions.

Honestly?  Just because it was the best deal offered to you, I don't think that means you had to take it.  I'm not so sure you got value for him, because i'm not sure there's anyone in this draft who can replace him.  Seems to be another pg heavy draft, of which you already have a good one.

I really like this for the Bucks. I had a few chances to get Diddle, but things didn't work out. THe guy only shots 42% and has a 1:1 To to assist ratio, so I'm not all that upset about it.

Kobe will see a jump in scoring, wouldn't be surprised if he averaged 24-27 ppg for the bucks.

I think this de-values the pick too. I see it as a late lottery.

Diddle started at about 36% as an option.  He's actually worked himself up to 42% and climbing when he wasn't an option (and he's shooting 44% from 3).

Maybe i dident get enough "value" for Kobe, who is a great player, but after having him for 2 1/2 years, what did it get me?

1 playoff appearance, and thats it. i dont think this deal is bad at all.

Diddle isent as good as Kobe, but I think he can give solid numbers for much less money.

Sorry that everyone feels as this deal is not good, or bad for me or whatever the concensus is, but I feel as if the deal will work for me, and thats really all that matters.

If its not a good deal, i'll still stand by it, and i'll go from there and try again.

Diddle's good.  and the pick should be good.  I don't tihnk anyone's saying the deal's going to fall on your face.  We're just not sure either one of them will replace Kobe.

I said it's not a terrible deal Suns, but my comment about Diddle being a non-option, and the late lotto first were both based on previous posts.

Bucks said that Diddle shoots well as a non-option, and terrible as an option.

IMO, the bucks pick will be late lottery.

Therefore, a non-option and a late lotto for Kobe.

But I don't think it's bad for you, I just think that maybe you could have got better.

Last year when the bucks first got him he was performing as an option.  He was a bit of a disappointment this year though.

Well, I really like him.

But the fact that he lost a potential really hurts. He had the potential to be an A- defender, A outside shooter, which would have been top 10 SG ratings.
