I would not call Johnson a huge talent...  He is less then mediocre in this league, the way his TC's have gone.
Magic can plug Josh Howard back into his natural sf spot, and he is probably an A- defender there.
Next to Jason Kidd, Ray Ray's lack of defense will be partially compensated for, I would think.
The Magic are now an incredible offensive team.  Kidd, Ray Allen, and Howard are very nice combo.

Memphis improved their defense quite a bit, but JRich will move back to SG, bringing his defense down to a B+.  Still, an overall defensive upgrade, but I think Lewis and JRich are both very good post defenders, so they may be vulnerable to outside shooting teams.  Only time will tell.

And Anderson's expiring contract may come in handy as the trading deadline approaches...

I do give the edge to Memphis, though, depending upon how that picks works out.  But Rashard's production never matched his Detroit??? days.  Ray is a much better 1st offensive option.  Could easily go the other way, depending upon how the teams mesh...

Now that the trade has been finalized I will give my reasons. While Allen can score well he is a big liability on defense and especially turnovers. Defense and Turnover are probably the two most important reasons why I won last season. Ray Allen is declining while Lewis is pretty much who he is and will stay that way for some years to come. My 1rst rounder would not be anything if I win as much as I think I will. Cap space is npt an issue and so trading anderson for something usefull is key. I like how my team gets bigger. By the way, I did notice that Richardson is really a SF in this game rather than a SG and so don't be suprized if Lewis ends up playing shooting guard.

albeit this deal is questionable as of now, Ray is actually a better scorer and I also get 2 good trade assets in Shandon Anderson and their 1st rounder.

While I'm sure there are reasons to do this trade for you, I think you'Re misled here: Ray is a better scorer but also 4 years older and on your books for 5 more years. He'll need crutches by then.

Let's see how a 31 year old exipring will bring you more than a 24yr old with better values. You need to trade it as it won't bring you anything if you let it expire.

And the pick, well I'll likely pick right behind you as I might get the first in the 2nd round ...

That will depend on the Memphis frontcourt.
Wallace is now doing to Memphis what he did to me last year, killing the offense, 41% field and 51% from the line.  With Biedrins at 43% and 58% line, the frontcourt is having scoring difficulties.
Of course, I did trade those two players to the Grizz, to help them on their way to a championship, so I could be a little bitter... j/k   Very Happy
But seriously, one of those two will have to step up their shooting soon.
Last year, Ben stepped it up after I traded him.  He was hitting 38% about 3 sims into the season, and ended the season at 44%, a huge jump.

it seems like magicGM is making a hard push for the oldest starting five in the league...that's just stupid move, trading away 26 year old star for the 30 year old guard with bad defense and horrible contract.

 grizzlies got lucky again IMO

p.s. but that wont be enough against the Kings of the league Smile  Wink

WRONG !
That is no luck, that is simply good negotiating. You don't make deals with luck ! And that's what you have to learn to get a good GM.

 Shocked
What I don't understand though, how does anyone doing trades with our "hardliner" GMs really believe he'll do a good trade ? Is there an extra bonus involved we don't know about (like you get the best chick at my champ'ship party)? I really need to find answers here ...   Rolling Eyes Wink

My god, since when are you a geezer when you turn 30???  Allen was a monster last year and the Magic got some good defenders to surround him by.

He has a HUGE contract until he's 35, that's the problem

Yeah, big time players have big time contracts, its sort of how it works...  Smile

But seriously people are making to much of his contract.  Last year he averaged 31/7/5 (albeit only in half the games).  This year his shooting is down, probably because of the system he's playing in.  He'll fit in nicely with Kidd, who makes up for Allens C+ defense.

And btw, I'm wondering, whats a measure of good defense?  Allen has C+ defense and is getting the same number of steals as James.  I'm not saying Allen is a better defender then James, but I'm wondering what people go by when they say someone is a bad defender.  Same thing with Billups who is averaging 2 SPG but people say he can't play D
