I really wasn't looking to add on salary for next season (wanted to make a run at bron-bron Smile ).  But....I want to compete now, and this helps me do so.

Chauncey's defense obviously isn't great.  But for all other aspects of his game, he's a perfect fit for my team.  Can be the consistent 3rd option I've never had here in New Jersey, hit the open shots Okafor and Pettit will get him (Heck, Daniels was able to average 17 ppg here), create for others, not turn the ball over, force steals, and hit the 3.

I should now have 2 40% 3 pt shooters in my backcourt, which is what I want for Pettit to drive and to open the lane for Okafor.

Hopefully, Pettit's defense will move to an A-, or my backcourt will get smoked defensively.

I think I now have a starting 5 who can compete with anybody in the league.

However, I have NO bench.  Literally.

Great trade for the nets. Billups is an excellent PG(although the poor defense...)
I do not see the reasoning for the nuggets...
a) Where does Cato fit in?
b) Billups is much more valuable than Cato.

Man, Nuggets, what were you thinking?

Nets have the best young trio in the League, yet without a PG, they can't do it.

If no-one was to trade them a PG, we could have slowed Nets chances.

Now, he has to be the favorite.

Just a complete rape.

Cato-type players are a dime-a-dozen. A-, B defense and rebounding, there are a ton of those players.

I just don't understand this whatsoever. Billups was one of the top PG's in the League. To trade him for just that doesn't make any sense.

Why not put Billups on a trade block and annouce to the League that he is available.

Sorry Nuggets, but you just got raped worse than anyone has in this League for a long, long time.

Bods, if you were Twan, all of us would be calling this a cheating setup. Smile That's how one sided this trade is.

Stop it Rapetors, you rape the rockets on the yao and peja trade too.  So now is even.

Not even close to like this. I gave him Boozer, Ellis and Gooden, 1 star, two potential stars.

But I love the name Smile

Gooden and Ellis are only potential stars in your mind.  You can stop promoting them, you no longer have to worry about whether Ellis was the right pick to live up to his #5 pick.

I don't think this trade is as bad as people seem to think.  Billups is a poor defender, and the Nuggets had a lot of success with Boykins running the point, for cheaper $.  I wouldn't say A- defenders with B rebounding who can put in 11-12/night are a dime a dozen either.

Now wait a minute, I think I got it.

Kenyon's moving to the 3.  Boykins is starting.  He just traded a backup for a starter.

Camby
Cato
Martin
Allen
Boykins

As I said, he had as much success with Boykins starting last year.  With Billups, there wasn't time for Boykins.  And he had MoPete (?  I think) starting.

you are worng i think on this...
it would only make sense if martin is traded for an Allstar Sf or near there..
also raps you have no reason to call this trade bad since your trade with the rockets isn´t making any sense eiter.
if you call gooden a superstar at sf worth peja why didn´t you keep him?
i can understand boozer and ellis for yao, but also gooden?
gooden is a PF best case a tweener...
so maybe a starting five of boozer, gooden, finley, hunter and ellis will be okay but never worth both allstars
Also gooden is way overpiad as you posted before..
i think the nets deal is okay not great but okay...
