Spurs agree.  Small cap savings plus get a player 10 years younger with potential.

I know this deal is weird since I English and his declining skills were one of my fav target when he was with the Pacers. But since I'm CelticsGM (and we have a funny history with Pitino and Ainge there) I can pretty much do whatever illogical deal I like and hardly a brow will be raised.

Last year Perry was backed up by Larry Benoit and Luke Ridnour, both well into their 30ies. While Larry was a decent defender he wasn't a good playmaker, so i decided to bring in someone better (who might not have the defense but if English has to start for me i'm in trouble anyway)

Problem: I don't have a roster spot. And since I promised to play my 2nd rounders I won't cut them now.
Solution: Trade one of my few expendable players for a veteran. Iba doesn't look bad and maybe he has a bright future, but right now he doesn't help me one yota (as i had to find out last season). Chills and Orlando and Wolkowsky will eat all minutes there and none of those can play backup PG.

Would I have preferred studs like Gomes or Uner or ? Hell yes, but they would have cost me another pick and i wasn't about to give that for a backup PG.
