Looking at my roster today, I realized how eerily similar my team this year is with my Nuggets Team.
Both have great rebounders and defenders at C, 2 way players at pf, great ballhandling pg's, scorers at the 2.
I guess it's just the way I like to build a team.
Position by Position.
C:
Pavel Podkolzine (B- inside, A- defense, A- rebounding, B potential)
vs.
Samuel Dalembert (C+ outside, A defense, B rebounding, D potential)
Winner - Samuel Dalembert. Pavel has a better inside rating, but he scored less (usually around 13 ppg) at a lower % (42-43%), which tells me he probably wasn't as good of an offensive rebounder and finisher. Pavel had a bit better rebounding, but I'll take sammy's defense and more efficient offensive game.
PF:
Stromile Swift (B+ inside, A- defense, B- rebounding, D potential)
vs.
Emeka Okafor (A- inside, A defense, B+ rebounding, A potential).
Winner - Emeka Okafor, bigtime. I LOVED Stro, and he was signed to a great deal. But he's not near the scorer or rebounder emeka is, and emeka still has A potential. Emeka is a superstar, Stro was a a great roleplayer.
SF:
Marion (B inside, A- outside, A+ defense)
vs.
erm....undecided.
Winner: Duh. This is my one huge weakness at this point. Lamond Murray? Please. Obviously no comparison to a near 30 ppg scorer with top of the line defense.
SG:
Pietrus (B inside, B outside, C handles, B defense, B potential)
vs.
Pettit (B inside, B+ outside, C+ handles, B defense, A potential).
Winner - Pettit, bigtime. Pettit's already the better scorer with better handles, and still has an A potential. Pettit should average 20 ppg, Pietrus was never able to be a consistent 2nd scorer. Pettit's d should improve, Pietrus probably never would. And Pietrus was in the final year of his contract with high greed, Pettit has 4 years left and almost no greed.
PG:
Telfair (C inside, B outside, A ballhandling, B+ defense, B potential)
vs.
Daniels (C inside, B outside, B+ ballhandling, B defense, C potential)
Winner - Telfair. I loved Telfair. I see Daniels as a mini-me version of Telfair.
Telfair was a solid scorer (consistent 12-13 ppg) with good defense (more steals than turnovers), and still had room to improve. But what made him special, and in my mind one of the top 2-3 pg's in the league with Brown and Nash, was his ballhandling. Easily the best in the league (for those who forgot my study on ballhandlers,
http://ssba.proboards30.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&num=1103121938 ). This was a guy who was running at nearly 8 assists per turnover at the end of the 2nd season. a guy who would average nearly 30 minutes inbetween turnovers. It was truely surreal. I see Daniels as a guy who could give me 11-12 ppg, not be a liability on D, and about a 4.5-5 assist to turnover ratio, about the ratio he had last year. Not Telfair by any stretch of the imagination, but good.
Anyone see a resemblance in their teams?
