If I were to trade someone now, would that affect my rosters for the playoffs?

If not, could I also trade for an expiring and have it come off the cap immediately for next year?

Any trade posted now cannot be processed until after the playoffs.

Once the playoffs are over, the salaries immediately go to the next year.  So this actually happens BEFORE trades can be made.

So no, you cannot trade for an expiring contract and have it come off immediately.  You actually have to use next years salary for any trades made now.
