it depends on WHAT firstrounders.
The Kings pick has a good chance being lotto and with my aging team mine in '26 might as well. The Jazz core with Bird/Theus/Dial (and now Herb) is just entering their prime, so lottery is highly unlikely.
Plus, each of my guys you asked for is a valueable rotation player, whereas Kiki is crap

You think the CPU will control the Kings for two seasons?

no, i think it will control the Kings for this season, then a new GM will come in, try to win for a few sims, decide it's not possible with this mess of a team and break it up in favor of rebuilding.

Its a pretty talented team so if a new gm takes over then i'm sure he would enjoy running the Kings.

pretty talented?
they have a PG never topping 6ypg on average, with an A/TO ratio of 1.8/1 a good SG, their best scorer ... and playing the same position as their 2nd best player Scott. a SF who vanishes against better opponents, career underachiever (and I had tried it for 3 seasons before too) a backup PF starting (or a shooter who doesn't defend or rebound) ... though 35yr old Adams might solidify this position and a C who underachieves. but in onlyhis 2nd season there's hope.
the cpu signed them 2PGs, another 3 SGs to add to their 2 starters at SG, and every minimum FA big man not taken by any other team.
but the more i look at it, that's a heck of a fun project to toy around with. but the cpu will fail ...

I wanna say it was a good trade for both of us in our respective positions....I picked up some decent players with those low first rounders if you look at Thomas, Knight, and Richardson, but I'm not going to win with role-playing rookies every year filling up my holes. I have a nice core going for a few more years with Bird leading the way. Rivera and Uner are most likely gone after this season. I didn't care about Herb's lack of offensive ability, if you looked at my depth charts for 90% of the years except when Dial was the man, I've had outside focus. Now I have two of the top shot blockers and a top 10 rebounder in my frontcourt. I just need my big men to play defense, rebound, and block shots and that's just what I've gotten. When my guards shoot close to 40% from three, those extra possessions really count. Keep in mind Rivera was selected 2nd team All-defense a few years back, he's good for 12 rebounds and 2.5 blocks a game, what else would I want for my team that likes to jack the three.
I don't really see Theus as a core player...his ratings are kind of the gel that brings everyone else's game together, and is the guy who steps up when other people are having a tough night. I like starting him to D-up the opponent's starting guard, with Knight sparking some offense off the bench
As for Vandeweghe, yeah he wasn't going to amount to much other than a decent back-up at the 2 and 3, and I already have the scoring spark off the bench with Knight. I'll take a 3.5bpg big man any day over an underacheiving guard/forward. As for the picks, no need for picks when I'm not rebuilding, I don't want young guys getting significant minutes in the playoffs as it is, it's a bad omen for your team.
Next year I most likely do not have Rivera and I don't have Uner, Bird is my scorer, and keep in mind what Dial was doing before I picked up Toney and company in the past, he's capable of putting up numbers, but will sit back and role-play when needed which is why I like him so much.
This also helps my cap problems in the medium future, so that I'm not in cap trouble when i'm rebuilding post-Bird, the last thing i want this team to become is the real-life knicks with overpaid mediocre talent (aka Vandeweghe) just to do well enough to miss out on decent draft picks.

you are on target here, i like the trade for the Jazz a lot. Not because i think Herb is(or will be) so great, but because you gave so little. Even if you did pick up some nice role players with later picks, as we've discussed in earlier years chances to find a starter or key backup past pick #20 are very slim. So in fact Herb Williams, a top shot blocking and good defensive PF (= great role playing starter on any team not challenged offensively) just entering his prime years was traded for two mediocre picks, just about guaranteed non-lottery. Or, in other words, for a 20% chance (two picks with 10% chance each) to find a decent backup in the draft. Hmmmmm ...
