Well, we'll see.

Right now Pietrus is a guy with good ratings, and the potential to be very good.  But so far he hasn't produced.  And trading a future pick of yours, with your current team, is risky.  2 years isn't a long time to try to rebuild, and the east is stacked.

well he didn´t get any playing time on my team and still shot a great %
at the worth case he will be something like battier who can shoot and defend but can´t score...

Wow...  that pick for the Pacers makes this a great trade for them.

I like Pietrus, and he will make a good starting SF, possibly very good, depending upon his next training camp.
Pietrus probably shot well because he was a 3rd string player.

But that pick has a good probability of being a lottery pick...

It's a risk, that's for sure.

It also depends on 4 things:
1) if Pietrus can play as well as his attributes are.
2) If Pietrus can improve with that B potential
3) How strong of a draft that will be.
4) If (how much) the celtics can improve)

But it's a risk, that's for sure.

there are a lot of ifs in both ways so i don´t see the problem...
if he is a good gm the pick will be maybe a late lotto...
if the draft is weak...
in two years a lot can happen his next year pick will help him thats for sure...
its almost like drafting ... lol a lot of ifs...
i can tell you i had offers in the late lotto for this years draft for pietrus also, so there are people who think he will be worth it...

I hope not to sound too cocky but I don't plan on this pick being a lottery selection in 2009.   Wink

Aside from this I don't get too overexited about future high draft picks because
  - there's no guarantee the pick is high (like top5) in 2 years
  - look at what you got this year: Pietrus is pretty close to the numbers of Robert Dickau and, Ladies & Gentlemen, that was the #3 pick !

So this basically was trading the 1st round pick 2009 for the #3 pick this year.
 Shocked

Of course I'm well aware that Pietrus might not resign with me next year or command more money than I'm willing to pay but that's the only intangible I can think of. I think he's worth the risk, especially with Pierce' status still undecided ...

I never said there was a problem, pacers, I said that it was a risk.

Celtics: Getting into the playoffs in the east will not be easy.  The east is stacked, and with youth.
