Bibby would be a huge upgrade over jones and is 5x the player Jefferson is.

Jefferson isn't half the player Marion is.  Worse offensively and not in the same league defensively.  Sure, this trade might make sense in 8 years when Jefferson's 2 years younger make a different, but until then IMO it's a horrible trade.

If the Jazz hadn't traded Kidd I'd say they'd be the frontrunners for the championship.

Everyone's worried about saving a few years of age.  Taking serious downgrades of players because of it.  It's why the Jazz traded Kidd and the Heat traded Marion.  And IMO they were both collosal mistakes.

But hey, as an Atlantic Division resident, nice trade.

hmm... i dont regret the trade.. Very Happy let's just wait and see Very Happy

I agree with you, but I just didn't want to lose kidd while kirilenko and company were at their prime. Francis is definately a drop from kidd, but not too far, he's still a star....I think the hidden advantage was grabbing declerq, considering I'll be losing my depth I do have inside after this season. So by losing out at PG, I gained a little back at PF and even though there's still a gap talent wise...getting marion definately makes up for that and still keeps my future plans in shape. Jiri Welsh isn't a bad pickup either for this season...he's a pretty solid player for the role I'll need him...i expect him to just play decent D and hit some open shots and that's exactly where his skills are (43% career from 3 point land, 1.3+ steals with some minutes)

I won't process the trade until tomorrow when I do the DC's.

You've got all the tools to find out if the trade works.  Use the tradechecker and the transactions chart on the rules page to find out of the players are eligible to be traded.

great trade for the Jazz....they now have a dynasty set up, i think it's a mistake by the Heat becaue I think they could beat the Mavs...Jazz are very very very scary now....with my impotent offense i won't score 40 on them

in heat gm's defense, jefferson still has B potential and has been playing pretty well..., although he may never meet marion's standards, I think if he's a good assit for a team set to rebuild for a post-shaq era, getting jefferson and okur with nice, reasonable contracts for a couple years down the road....I think it's nice that he gets 2 positions that will be consisent for him down the road and each player can play 2 positions for him which makes it easier to mold a team.
