Title: Playoff Conf Finals done !!! Post by: CelticsGM on May 08, 2009, 06:50:15 PM the playoffs have finally arrived again.
So check out games 1, 2, 3 from the initial rd 1 sim. Games 4-7 in the morning, my time (so around 2am-3am for you) Title: Re: Hard Cap Violation Post by: BlazersGM on May 09, 2009, 05:18:49 AM ufff, i was so scared after i saw i was 2-2 vs Wolves during regular season, close games, so i made some changes, but i wasnt 100 % sure if it'll work, but it turned out perfect, so we're 3-0.
One of them was Bargnani having problems, so i changed that + some tactic changes. And Skiles was a big suprise (bingo).... Game 1 - 31pts 6rebs 6stls Game 2 - 30 pts, 6 3pts Game 3 - Not good but still, he was a real suprise, plus Andrea played much better with different tactics and as a 3rd option. .....and wow, Skiles and Kerr shooting 3pts over 60 %, thats nice :) .....and another WOW at Trey Wootten of 76ers, SF getting 4,9 and 6 blocks in 3 games for a B B+ D+ B C C player is amazing. I dont like Warriors leading 3-0 vs Kings tough, they completely destroyed my team in all 4 reg-season games (something like +20-30pts each game). But it's play-offs, so everything is possible i guess, altough im pesimistic if we clash in rd2, my team just cant find a way to play against them. Title: Re: Playoff sim 1 part 1 !!! Post by: CelticsGM on May 09, 2009, 09:20:18 AM on with the rest of round 1
DAY 126: The great MJ (Rockets) gets injured for the next 35 days. Torn hamstring. Pffffh ... !!! DAY 126: Backup Marques Embry (Magic) only goes down 7 days ... Rockets lose, Magic win. Blazers, Warriors, and Pacers sweep. The rest of the series is tied 2-2. DAY 128: Roy Tarpley (Rockets) joins MJ on the inactive list. Just for 6 days, but still. Consequently the Rockets drop a 1pt decision at home. All other game 5's go to the home team. DAY 130: No injuries for a change. Pistons and Lakers refuse to go down, force a game 7 76ers, Magic (who took 3 straight with a changed lineup), and Spurs (who take care of the remaining Rockets) end it here. The Hawks, btw, some might say, managed somewhat of a choke job in the decisive game 6: 6:43 remaining in 4th quarter: Hawks 81 - Magic 67 1:38 remaining in 4th quarter: Hawks 93 - Magic 85 1:16 remaining in 4th quarter: Hawks 95 - Magic 88 0:04 remaining in 4th quarter: Magic 98 - Hawks 95 but ... for me thats the most dominant display of scoring i have witnessed in a sim league, ever. Just look what Kevin Johnson did: 1:23 Three-point play by KJ 0:49 KJ gets a defensive rebound and needed 5 seconds for a shot to get the Magic to 93-95 with 0:41 remaining. 0:28 KJ needed 6 seconds for a 3pt shot to get the Magic a 96-95 lead with 0:22 remaining. 0:10 And then KJ needed 6 seconds to get the Magic a 98-95 lead with 0:04 remaining. Thats a total of 17 seconds going coast to coast and scoring on THREE consecutive posessions in the final minute of a playoff game. Simply amazing ... :hail: READ IT HERE: http://rosters.ssbabasketball.com/boxes/130-4.txt DAY 131: Cavs and Clippers take care of business at home (Lakers lost Cliff Robinson in that one, too) Round 2 late tonight. Get me DCs ! Title: Re: Hard Cap Violation Post by: SixersGM on May 09, 2009, 11:34:07 AM Well the Nets really gave me quite a scare.
Seriously, I didn't thought I was ever going to win the series. Like I said during the sim 12 thread, I'm really not confident in the series because the Nets were playing on a mean streak lately. I like how they build their team and their commitment to defense. Their team really reminds me of the Pacers. But I don't think that they are just there yet. What I think was the difference maker in the series was the shear amount of talent my team has compared to his team, since his team is still on their rebuilding process. Anyway, see you next season NetsGM. I really wish the best for your team. You're quite a tactician and it shows on how your team plays and how it is built. :D Title: Re: Hard Cap Violation Post by: Iverson2Korver43 on May 09, 2009, 04:10:39 PM I would love to see a box score for game 7 of round 1... Really disappointed in the loss... Nothing against the Cavs, but I really thought I had the better team...
Title: Re: Hard Cap Violation Post by: BlazersGM on May 10, 2009, 05:15:49 AM Skiles with 25pts (11-18FG, 3-5 3p), Andrea with 19/11 and 5blks, Ervin with 14/17 5 blks propellered us to round 2.
Now Warriors, against whom we were 0-4 during regular. I dont know, its PO's, but im really pesimistic, we just dont play good against them, i even believe Warriors will go all the way to the finals and only team stopping them i see in Pacers. But i hope im wrong and we can advance. ....and btw, wasnt playoffs topic supposed to be discussion hehehe ? i see we're all discussing here under hard cap violation :P Title: Re: Hard Cap Violation Post by: MagicGM on May 10, 2009, 06:12:29 AM Nice series hawks
Title: Re: Hard Cap Violation Post by: HawksGM on May 10, 2009, 06:40:44 PM Nice series hawks you too Magic, whatever adjustment you made was great, I thought Hakeem would eat your C's alive, but well done and best of luck! Title: Re: Hard Cap Violation Post by: NetsGM on May 11, 2009, 07:04:49 AM Well the Nets really gave me quite a scare. Your fellas threw down the hammer in games 4-6. Pretty dominant, impressive stuff and too much for my kids to handle. Went with a perimeter offence to counteract your interior D, but didn't really have the horses to make it fly - maybe not an aggressive enough strategy. Probably should have pounded it inside to go right at the big fellas.Seriously, I didn't thought I was ever going to win the series. Like I said during the sim 12 thread, I'm really not confident in the series because the Nets were playing on a mean streak lately. I like how they build their team and their commitment to defense. Post by: CelticsGM on May 12, 2009, 11:07:22 AM ROUND 2 has started
check it out ... Frank Johnson (Cavs) goes down for 30 days with a dislocated knee on DAY134 (a ka game 2) The Blazers and Warriors play a memorable double-OT game on day 2, ending 143-141 in favor of Portland. Not only does Bargnani (Blazers) force OT with a 3pt shot at the end of regulation, not only does Kersey (Blazers) convert two FTs with 8 sec remaining in OT to force double OT (Kemp misses a buzzer beater here), the 2nd OT is a masterful display of offensive capabilities: The two teams score on the final 9 posessions, all in the final minute of the 2nd OT, and the game ends dramatically. After Macy ties the game with a 3pt shot 5 seconds from time, Stevie Kerr of all people doies his biggest MJ impersonation and goes coast to coast for a buzzer beating jumper. Hard to believe, really hard to believe ... And all 4 series are 2-1 in favor of the higher seed now, thans to a ton of home losses. So these ones are far from over ... The rest of round 2 will be simmed late tonight or early tomorrow. Title: Re: Playoff ROUND 2 part 1 !!! Post by: MagicGM on May 12, 2009, 11:23:51 AM ROUND 2 has started well, hate to say it, but Frank Johnson's injury pretty much caused the Cavs Game 2 and 3. I see big changes from the Cavs next sim, shall be interesting to see if my changes turnout to be still in my favor. check it out ... I am terribly disappointed that despite being up 1 game in the series, Chuck Person still managed to pull a triple-double. Nick Anderson, bullshit! I say that with love though. Title: Re: Playoff ROUND 2 part 1 !!! Post by: BlazersGM on May 12, 2009, 02:54:18 PM yeah Tom, i was about to say that "hard to believe".
Im happy tough so far, cause my change in tactics and options did a lot for us. Warriors swept us by 21.5pts difference (105-80, 101-77, 116-93, 93-79)....so making changes for 1st time this season helped a lot i believe, otherwise they would be 3-0 up. Still i smell Bargnani could do a lot at SF, but i have no adequate PF/C to move him there. So far i smell 7 game series here, and hopefully home court will be decisive, but from what i saw anything is possible. Series are amazing, we were nearly 0-2 after two home games, but that crazy 143-141 OT win gaved us wings it seems, and we won in Oakland after trailing 20 at half-time, but 41-31 and 40-25 3rd/4th quarter gave us back home court advantage. And Skiles is amazing.... 36.2mpg 22.3ppg 4.7rpg 3.3apg 2.8spg in 7 games so far.... but whats really amazing is his offense FG- ?60 % FT- 75 % 3PT- 65 % Those numbers are insane, he had 6 great games and one terrible game vs Wolves with only 4 pts, rebs and asts, otherwise his numbers would be "hard to believe" Damn, Warriors are really really tough for us. Title: Re: Playoff ROUND 2 part 1 !!! Post by: GoldenStateGM on May 12, 2009, 03:09:53 PM All right, let's make the rest of the games be overtime games as well...
We can be the Celtics/Bulls of SSBA!!!! Title: Re: Playoff ROUND 2 part 1 !!! Post by: BlazersGM on May 12, 2009, 03:13:10 PM I wouldnt mind heheh, its really epic series so far, just like Celtics and Bulls. Our matchup is hardest to predict i believe.
Title: Re: Playoff ROUND 2 part 1 !!! Post by: CavsGM on May 12, 2009, 04:18:28 PM I am clearly not meant to three-peat...
Title: Re: Playoff ROUND 2 part 1 !!! Post by: PacersGM on May 13, 2009, 02:16:22 AM sixers are making this really interesting. had to play my starters heavy mins to get some wins. hope they still can win it in 6.
Title: Re: Playoff ROUND 2 part 1 !!! Post by: CelticsGM on May 13, 2009, 11:28:46 AM ROUND 2 HAS BEEN COMPLETED
On day 137 (games 4), the Blazers, Pacers and Magic all landed blowout wins. Only the Spurs and Clippers had a good one. Spurs led for much of the game before the Clippers came back in the 4th, led by as many as 9, and still had a 6pt cussion with 1:30 remaining. But a turnover, a couple missed shots, and the final 5 points by Kevin Willis had the Spurs up in the end - despite a rare bonehead Charles Barkley play (Spurs got the ball with 15sec remaining and a 1pt lead ... and the Chuckster honestly took - and missed - a shot with 4 sec. on the game clock ...) :bash: On day 139 (games 5) the blazers, Pacers and Magic ended their series. And only the Pacers were slightly scared and needed a Dennis Hopson 3pt shot with 1 second remaining in a tied game. Thc clippers now returned the favor to the Spurs, this time coming back in the final minutes and winning on two FTs from Leop Powe with 6 sec. remaining (and a Fat Lever miss at the buzzer). And this is something where I can't understand FBB. Take the Clippers game: the Spurs are up 1 with 26 sec remaining, yet Chris Laettner takes a jumper with 12 seconds remaining. Completely stupid. And take the Pacers game: Tied game, 76ers ball, 26 sec. left. And in the first play, Strickland passes to PF Przybilla who immediately takes a 3pt shot - his ONLY 3pt shot in the game - with 11 sec. remaining. Can't even discuss that one, as Mashburn, Petrovic and Dawkins had made 24 of 38 shots combined in that game at that point. read yourself: http://rosters.ssbabasketball.com/boxes/139-2.html http://rosters.ssbabasketball.com/boxes/139-3.html On day 141 the Spurs forced a game 7 ... and again in a close battle, overcoming a big deficit as the Clippers scored 5 points in the first 9 minutes of the 4th quarter (and just 10 overall in the quarter). On day 143 the Clippers finally took care of business, storming from a close 33-27 game early in the 2nd quarter to a 99-66 lead late in the 3rd quarter. Poor Spurs getting bullzozed here. So Pacers - Magic and Blazers - Clippers are the DF matchups ... and will start later tonight. Title: Re: Playoff ROUND 2 part 1 !!! Post by: SixersGM on May 13, 2009, 11:31:35 AM aw..
Congrats PacersGM. You have quite a indestructible team. I have tried everything I got. It's really hard to face your team especially with your scorers and your great defense. I know this year's champ is from the east. Title: Re: Playoff ROUND 2 part 1 !!! Post by: MagicGM on May 13, 2009, 11:32:57 AM Glad to finally win the 2nd round. This is like just my team's 2nd time. So we'll see how it goes. :D
sorry cavs, injuries killed your team. kevin johnson is a cheap shot artist. Title: Re: Playoff ROUND 2 part 1 !!! Post by: BlazersGM on May 13, 2009, 02:15:02 PM Damn, much easier then i tought, im shocked we won both games in that way. Skiles was phenomenal again. Ervin had a triple in last game 22pts 18rbs 10ast.
Now Clippers, should be fun. Title: Re: Playoff ROUND 2 part 1 !!! Post by: GoldenStateGM on May 13, 2009, 03:19:53 PM Bah.... I should have never changed my settings...

Title: Re: Playoff Conf Finals part 1 !!! Post by: CelticsGM on May 16, 2009, 07:31:22 PM the CONF FINALS have started
And it looks like both series might be contested ones. Of course, everything was played in order in the East, where the home team took all three contests so far, but both games in Indiana were close ones (not so much the first one where the final score was the closest margin , but in game 2 the Magic led midway through the 4th, only to see the Pacers score the last 6 points) In the West the Blazers lost home court on a Steve Kerr off-night, took game 2 convincingly, then played a great thriller game 3 in LA. Blazers come back from 4 down in the final minute to take the lead on a Bargs three with 4 seconds to play. But in the final 4 seconds of regulation somehow Stockton brings the ball upcourt, avoids a trap, manages a pass into the frontcourt, and Hawkins ties the game on a jumper at the buzzer (FBB does something like THAT in 4 SECONDS ??? Most teams couldn't pull that off in an empty gym WITHOUT an opponent !!!). But when the Blazers score the first 8 points in OT they put the game away. Next up: rest of CF early tomorrow, then finals, draft preview, and (maybe) seasons end tomorrow evening. Title: Re: Playoff Conf Finals part 1 !!! And those were two battles going on. Chronologically, this is what happened: DAY 149 (games 4): Clippers wipe away the Blazers, leading by 35 after 3 quartes. And Magic take a close game in the 4th to run all over the Pacers behind KJs 47. DAY 151 (games 5): The Trailblazers regroup and score a fairly easy win to move with a victory to the finals. But the ECF was one of the better games: Pacers pretty much held a slight lead all the way to the 4th, tho never in double digits. In the final quarter the Magic made their run to tie it up early. What did follow was a total of 21 lead changes and numerous ties in the 4th quarter and OT. Neither team was up more than two baskets, and when Hopson tied the score 3 seconds to go in regulation the stage was set for some OT drama. Magic come out hot, KJ scoring 5 points, then Pacers take back the lead, only to see Monta Ellis with 6 straight get the Magic up again. Toni Kukoc gets the Pacers one last tie 7 seconds from time, but - like he's done all playoffs - KJ goes coast to coast for the winner at the buzzer. KJ (10) and Monta (6) score all the Magic' point in OT. And KJ with another great 46/8/8 performance. DAY 153 (games 6): The Clippers return the favor and hold the Blazers to 80 again (the Blazers scored 108ppg at home and 93ppg - thanks to the 128pt OT win in game 3 - on the road) and win by 15 to force a game 7. But the premiere series is the Magic/Pacers battle. This time the Magic get out of the gates quickly and lead by 23 (59-36) after halftime. But the Pacers wouldn't give up easily and with 7 minutes remaining they tie the game at 72-72 after a 36-13 run in less than 16 minutes !!! The Pacers even lead 79-76 with less than 4 minutes remaining, but run out of gas in the end. Dennis Hopson misses 5 shots and turns the ball over once while KJ, Ellis and Anderson make their shots. The Pacers score only 2 points in the final 3 minutes and end their season prematurely this time. KJ with a quiet 17 this time, but there when it counted. And the Magic with their first ever SSBA finals appearance. DAY 155 (game 7): Now what did you expect? Honestly? The blazers eclipse their 72 points scored from game 4 with their first points of the 2nd half. They exceed their 80 points from game 6 just 2 minutes later ... and since the Clippers had 49 points at that time this one wasn't even a game anymore. After a 36 point lead after 3 quarters the celebrations of the Blazers first finals appearance sind 2019 - 11 seasons ago - began on the court already. And with the streamers coming down after the buzzer it was clear a new era had begun here. So get ready to crown a champ we haven't seen here for some time, if ever ... Title: Re: Playoff Conf Finals part 1 !!! Post by: BlazersGM on May 18, 2009, 07:37:58 AM damn.... and i didnt even notice in my signature it says 2030 wcnf champs, i wrote that by mistake few days ago (i only wanted to change that of pacific division), but i guess it was good luck.
too bad i didnt do the same for finals, now its bad luck and we'll lose. :bash: Title: Re: Playoff Conf Finals done !!! Post by: SixersGM on May 18, 2009, 08:40:02 AM Wow, surprised to see Pacers were dethroned.
I guess MagicGM's got some LEGIT magic tricks out of his pocket. Whatever that is, it surely work magnificently like how the shamans resurrected Dwight Howard in the past few years. Title: Re: Playoff Conf Finals done !!! Post by: BlazersGM on May 18, 2009, 08:43:20 AM Congrats to Clippers on this epic series, im glad we won tough.
Skiles was our men, guy scoring 20ppg on 55-FG% and 56-3pt% and 2.8spg is trully amazing, even actually he didnt play well against Clippers (he was over 60 % in both FG and 3pt first 2 rounds) except for the game 7 where he dropped 37pts, 9 rebs, 4 asts, 3 steals shooting 15-19 from the floor, 5-9 from 3pt line and 2-2 FT. He trully is our hero so far, altough others do their jobs as well. Title: Re: Playoff Conf Finals done !!! Post by: MagicGM on May 18, 2009, 08:54:42 AM OMG! It feels like seeing the Magic win over the Celtics on Game 7 all over again. Well, I just hope that we don't have the fate that the real life Magic have. Back in the ECF after 13 years. pfft.
OMG. OMG. OMG. Nice series, Pacers. Blazers are tough to beat. Hopefully I'd be able to successfully execute another MAGIC trick I have. Title: Re: Playoff Conf Finals done !!!
