Title: Hard Cap
Post by: GrizzliesGM on December 18, 2008, 06:03:29 PM
I think it is about time we think about lowering the hard cap. It is currently at $87,600,000. The last time we lowered it was about 12 seasons ago.

The reason I think it is still too high is because we see many teams resigning their average players to 1 year deals at $10,000,000. It would make it more competitive if teams over the hard cap had to think twice about offering their players huge 1 year contracts just because they can. For instance, I had no problem offering Steve Johnson a 1 year deal at $8,000,000 because I knew I had nothing stopping me from doing it.

Anyone else support lowering the hard cap. I would propose lowering it a little but doing it in 2-3 seasons from now so teams can prepare.

Yes. The Grizzlies and many franchises around the SSBA are having financial problems. Most recently, the Grizzlies laid off 1,000+ workers, ranging from bathroom janitors to each player's personal whore. We believe that lowering the salary cap will allow each franchise to save millions, which can be used to first rehire the whores...and then possibly janitors and other non-essential staff. What can I say, Memphis is going through some tough times.

I can say, the reason why we don't have a NuggetsGM is actually because of them feeling the financial crisis. Who wouldn't when they have cheerleaders like her?

Last time we lowered the cap it was a process running over 6 or 7 seasons after being announced (of course, since all current contracts have to end first)
