Title: Hornets / Hawks complete trade - processed Post by: HornetsGM on January 27, 2005, 10:49:17 PM Hornets trade:
J.R. Smith Alex Garcia Tim Pickett 2008 1st for Josh Childress Since the Hornets are $688,218 under the cap, they will use this towards the trade to make it work. Title: Hornets / Hawks complete trade - processed Post by: SixersGM on January 27, 2005, 10:52:02 PM I like it for the hornets, at this point of time. BUt it may change once the season starts..
Title: Hornets / Hawks complete trade - processed Post by: HawksGM on January 27, 2005, 10:52:20 PM agreed, maybe not a great deal, but a 1st round pick, and I get Josh Childress out of here (I just hate that fro', I have no idea why) and I get a good young prospect in JR Smith...
Title: Hornets / Hawks complete trade - processed Post by: SixersGM on January 27, 2005, 10:58:40 PM You should have told me that you have hated Childress' Fro. So that i can give you skinner (bald) for Childress.

LOL, yea maybe that would have worked out better Title: Hornets / Hawks complete trade - processed Post by: NetsGM on January 29, 2005, 12:04:42 AM doesn't work.
when you're under the cap, you need to have enough cap space to absorb the entire salary, not get within 15% (15% only applies to teams over the cap). The Hornets need to add $254,016. Title: Hornets / Hawks complete trade - processed Post by: HornetsGM on January 29, 2005, 12:55:39 AM My fault, I thought I could use my cap space like salary. I can add Pickett to make it work; you can post if you agree.

Title: Hornets / Hawks complete trade - processed Post by: JazzGM-old on January 30, 2005, 08:33:08 PM Hawks are caking up their opponents' schedules, but being smart in knowing they have no chance this season to attempt to be even respectable and pretty much, by this trade I see them securing a promising rebuilding process...
Title: Hornets / Hawks complete trade - processed Post by: HornetsGM on January 31, 2005, 03:24:47 PM If Childress were in this year's draft, he'd be a close second to Dean as the best small forward in there. He would definitely be a lotto pick.
I think I'll be a pretty solid team by 2008 considering my youth and my favorable cap position, so I am hoping that trading that pick won't come back to haunt me. Smith is an interesting prospect though. |
