Title: FA day1 done
Post by: PacersGM on September 10, 2008, 06:04:37 AM
sorry no chance. i am feeling pretty ill at the moment. hope some sleep will help. also an information too some fo the gms. i will only allow 5 bids for MLE 5 for LLE  and 5 for MIN bids per day. so some of your bids won't be inserted.

I'm sorry to hear you are under the weather.  I'm getting over a cold myself.  It sucks.  Thanks for the updates, they really help my sanity.

Appreciate all that you do here, you're doing a great job.

and sorry I added a 6th MLe, please ignore that ...

Even though I have no minimum bids and no LLE bids, I can still only have 5 MLE bids???  This is kind of BS since I can't even edit who I want to bid on then...

This has been a rule since the inception of SSBA, I believe - only 5 LLE/MLE offers per day.

I looked at the rules for this, and didn't see any mention of a limit there.

It just doesn't make a ton of sense to me...  You would think MLE/LLE bids are by far the easiest to enter...  A limit would be fine but it would be nice if it was posted in the rules...  Also, 5 bids is not the many at all...  Maybe you could do 15 total bids of players you do not have bird years for(i.e. MLE, LLE, Min)...

Title: Re: FA day1 delayed

now THAT would be crap.

C'mon what's the FA for other than bidding. There shouldn't be any limits if you have cap space ...

and since I know FA day 1 is a pain, for the other teams maybe we should allow a maximum of 15 offer, no matter if MLE, LLE or min.
(since nobody can reasonably tell me it makes ANY difference if you sumbit MLE or LLE or min offers, so why only 5 of each "class" ???)

That is what I meant(MLE, LLE, MIN)...  I guess I could have worded it better...

n/p, just misunderstood you I guess. Sorry man.

Probably the limit on the bids for players "you do not have bird years on" is what made me go "hoho, wait a sec", cause that's exactly what having cap space is for: making bids on players you don't have bird years for.

These delay's are really stretching out now.  I don't think PacersGM really had his heart in doing this season, maybe it's time to let him out of that commitment?

Any update on the html version of this that was susposed to be 2 weeks out?

No, you made horrendous pressure on that poor lad to speed up recovery, probably by throwing in tons of drugs and ignoring nature. No wonder he got sick in the first place ...

PacersGM was "let out of his commitment".  Nobody else wanted/could take over, so he offered to do the "final" season.

As for the online version, when I have an update for a working beta, I'll let you guys know.  I can't say I have oodles of free time, and certainly can't provide a definitive timeline.  I could ahve probably gotten something ready in 2 weeks, but it would have been many sleepless nights to get me there, which I haven't been doing since we have a little more time in the form of the 2028 season, and I like sleep.

This, right here, is the unfortunate side effect of real life.  If I can get the online version how I want it, we can mitigate that as much as possible.  But right now, this is a massive time commitment which real life can get in the way of.

I'm not sure whether or not you've run an FBB sim before, but it's a massive, massive time commitment that you truly can't comprehend until you've done it year in and year out.  Delays may be annoying, but they're understandable.

hmm you know that your post makes no sense at all. If you have cap space you have no limits since you can't bid MLE or LLE with more than 5mill cap space. And we had a gm who made almost 30 bids. You tell me that makes any chance to use cap space like that?

FWIW I think Pacers has done an excellent job and deserves a day off!!!

I know how hard it is to be a commish, and how unappreciative people can be. Thick skin young fella, thick skin!!!

Also, thrilled I got Rodman with my MLE. Absolute reach but I got him!!! lol

McHale is back for 3 but it don't matter as we won't have cap space til then anyway.

A- A- defense and rebound respectively for 4.5mil, me like!

well damn, I lost Chuck Murray to the Sixers.  He's a decent player, has high potential, never really improved that much, but will be a big loss to this team.  As long as Kareem Mokray improves like I think he will, this loss isn't devastating.

I apologize.

I do appreciate the work you folks put in and I don't mean to come across otherwise.

On another note:  The Jazz had quite an active free agent period during day #1.  I resigned Olden Polynice to what I thought was a very reasonable deal, and landed both one of my MLE and one of my LLE targets bringing my roster to 15.

We're still a building team so I consider these signings successful as

Olden Polynice 25yo
Morris Oyedeji 25yo 'B' potential
Stan Wingate 24yo 'B' potential

I am hoping that I managed to add a few building blocks of the Jazz future here.  I had sent out some offers to a few older guys, but, darn pleased with the way things turned out.

With regards to the Chuck Murray over Evan Rossow signing, it was all because of Team needs. Which I feel was a very dire need to fill in order to win the championship...

As much as I like Murray and his supposedly high potential, what worries me if he has the "DR.J" disease. Anyway, I can only imagine what could have been if I have resigned Rossow.  I just can't wait till TC when the true potentials of my player pays off and finally move on with the loss of Evan "LOSS"ow..

Nice job Cavs BTW, I think your three headed monsted will be a force to reckon with next season...

none. Fully agree that anything more than 10 offers just show you have little clue what to do.

But people do it in DJSL too, for whatever reason. Still my point is just that if you have cap space to spend you shouldn't be limited. Not calling for any absurd number of offers allowed.
