Title: My Status Post by: NetsGM on May 12, 2008, 01:50:16 PM I've stepped down as the PistonsGM, handing the team back over to its original GM. What does this leave me?
- I will be taking over vacated teams, temporarily. If a GM quits, rather than going on cpu control, he'll go on Derek control until a permanent GM can be found. I'm sick of CPU controlled teams that are managed poorly and cannot be traded with. - I will be developing more tools (like the resignings page, banks page, true potential pages in the past) to make the sim experience better. - I am going to spend more time developing my own version of FBB, which will be fully online and not require a commish. I hope to have a working beta up within a month or so, but that depends on my real life commitments. Title: Re: My Status Post by: NetsGM on May 12, 2008, 03:29:04 PM This also isn't like last time, where I simply just got sick of being a GM and Commish at the same time. I'm not saying I'm not going to come back to being a fulltime GM and that it's no longer fun. But I do want to concentrate on some other things concerning the league for the time being, and since we have a full roster (and actually had someone on the waiting list), now was the time. I'm not done being a GM in this league.
Title: Re: My Status Post by: NetsGM on May 12, 2008, 03:45:34 PM I appreciate all your efforts with this league, Bods, it has been and is superb.
I hope your work on a 'better version of the game' goes smoothly - and I look forward to seeing the final product. Most (if not all) of the features of this league and it's layout are without peer, and you deserve heaps of praise for that. The other leagues I'm in have worked off of this one as a template, and I think making these features a part of the standard product will make the sim experience even better. And having a "bullpen GM" will be great as well for any hiccups we might have in the future with manager commitment. Good luck with it and see you around. Title: Re: My Status Post by: GoldenStateGM on May 12, 2008, 03:47:34 PM Good to know!!!
Love the fact that we now have a back-up GM for a bit, and I cannot wait to see your on-line version of the game. You have quite a few beta testers available here :) Derek Control... :lmao: Title: Re: My Status Post by: NetsGM on May 12, 2008, 03:53:05 PM The fully online version is something that I really want to do. This whole process is just cumbersome for an online league. Takes up far too much of the commish's time, is far too prone to error, and we're limited in the "new features" that can be added. It would be nice to have control over that.
What I'm envisioning is you being able to submit trades in a web interface, select your draftee in a web interface, submit your dc through a web interface, drop and sign players instantly (when not in fa, of course), and the "commish" at the end of the day pressing "run sim 1" and that be it on his involvement. In fact, the only reason there'd even be a commish is so that the times things are run can be changed. I could fully automate it, but I'd want a commish to manually do it just so in case there's an emergency, a sim can be delayed. But it could be 100% automated as well. Title: Re: My Status Post by: MagicGM on May 12, 2008, 10:13:22 PM wow.
the creator of fbb will be wetting his pants now. hihi when you're done with it, make sure you sell it. ;) you'll make a lot. :D Title: Re: My Status Post by: HeatGM on May 13, 2008, 09:26:59 AM wow bods..if your able to do that...it would be amazing...FBB would definitely want a piece of that action

I will send you a blank cheque and you may write upon it any number you wish... Title: Re: My Status Post by: RaptorsGM on May 13, 2008, 11:59:52 AM Holy shit Bods. That's a great idea, and could be a real moneymaker if you decide to put a price on it.
Title: Re: My Status Post by: NetsGM on May 13, 2008, 12:24:02 PM I don't plan on "releasing" it. I'm really just developing it for SSBA.
Title: Re: My Status Post by: CelticsGM on May 13, 2008, 01:37:43 PM ... and maybe a partner league here or there ?
:-)))))) Title: Re: My Status Post by: HeatGM on May 14, 2008, 11:04:22 AM like DJS*?
Title: Re: My Status Post by: MagicGM on May 16, 2008, 01:45:29 AM okay this intrigued me a bit more about what you are developing..
Quote (btw, that will be one of the features of my online version of the league. There will be a checkbox that says "this is a proposal", so the receiving GM will clearly know what is and is not a proposal. For the time being, we're counting on old time GM's to be clear on their intentions and make sure that they use verbiage that is not misleading or confusing). so will the sim still be run through fbb? thje only difference is that the commish will have an easier time inputting details? Title: Re: My Status Post by: MavsGM on May 22, 2008, 07:05:10 PM In another news concerning FBB, Grey Dog Software is suspending development on FBB. :bash: :moon: http://www.greydogsoftware.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?s=e782cb1dcd49a88ca9951deb5b2a57d4&f=118
Looks like Derek is our only hope to improve the game. |
