Title: Re: sim 12 delayed due to FBB problems Post by: MagicGM on May 05, 2008, 02:37:32 AM yikes... does it mean something bad? :-S
have you tried restarting the program? :D Title: Re: sim 12 delayed due to FBB problems Post by: RaptorsGM on May 05, 2008, 08:48:53 AM uh oh. I would hope nick or derek or tom would have an answer for you.
Title: Re: sim 12 delayed due to FBB problems Post by: NetsGM on May 05, 2008, 09:43:17 AM uh oh. I would hope nick or derek or tom would have an answer for you. Yeah, check with those dudes. I wonder though, if you tuck the save file somewhere safe (copy it somewhere outside of the games files), you could also try to install the game again, and then copy the save file back in safely? Title: Re: sim 12 delayed due to FBB problems Post by: CelticsGM on May 05, 2008, 09:48:10 AM i'm sure he considered this and there's jus tthe sim 7 file left. Heck, if for a couple of seasons nothing bad is happening you get a pretty safe feeling, i know that.
But at least it reminds me that i'm NOT overcautious in DJSL where i store away a copy of the safe file before and after each sim (until the season ends). Thats life I guess ... :-) Title: Re: sim 12 delayed due to FBB problems Post by: NetsGM on May 05, 2008, 10:38:39 AM i'm sure he considered this and there's jus tthe sim 7 file left. But at least it reminds me that i'm NOT overcautious in DJSL where i store away a copy of the safe file before and after each sim (until the season ends). Thats life I guess ... :-) We have save files after every sim. The problem is, if you load up every one after sim 8, 9, 10, or 11, they all die on day 120. They all work up until that point. Title: Re: sim 12 delayed due to FBB problems Post by: RaptorsGM on May 05, 2008, 10:57:19 AM So what do we do?
Title: Re: sim 12 delayed due to FBB problems Post by: WizardsGM on May 05, 2008, 11:01:27 AM never heard of this before
i would hope the file size hasnt reached a maximum? Title: Re: sim 12 delayed due to FBB problems Post by: CelticsGM on May 05, 2008, 11:09:22 AM SIZE? too many trades probably.
or too few, so FBB decides the league isn't worth to continue ? in DJSL my league file went from 661k size before the 2008 season to 783k before the 2023 season (and from 2080k to 2167k at seasons end). Not really big. And since player retirements take historic stats away too that can't be an issue ... Title: Re: sim 12 delayed due to FBB problems Post by: HornetsGM on May 05, 2008, 11:25:44 AM Sounds like we'll have to re-sim from 7. What a pain.
Title: Re: sim 12 delayed due to FBB problems Post by: PacersGM on May 05, 2008, 11:27:44 AM if we can't find a solution for the sim 12 file, i have to go back to the sim 7 file and insert all moves one more time. if we get the error again we might have found a FBB bug. maybe there is a limit for transactions?
the problem is that this will take some time and i have to check the file after every sim till end of season. Also we have to decide if we go back in the schedule to sim 7 and sim as usual 3 times a week. Or just sim till day 110 and everyone can then decide if they want to change their lineups for the last sim. Title: Re: sim 12 delayed due to FBB problems Post by: RaptorsGM on May 05, 2008, 11:43:37 AM i can't see it being a size or limit problem, when i had a copy of fbb i played for like 25+ seasons with alot more transactions than we have seen here. and we can't be the oldest and longest-running sim league in history, so we probably would have heard about it previously.
Title: Re: sim 12 delayed due to FBB problems Post by: NetsGM on May 05, 2008, 12:35:44 PM FBB sucks. I'm sorry, but it's a hacked piece of crap code. And, all of the download links for FBB (i.e. the save converter) are down, as is the forum (the old forum that you could search for other people that have had the problem, not the forum from the old game) as fbbgames.com is down.
whoopy. Maybe this is the kick in the butt I need to work on my online version of the game. Title: Re: sim 12 delayed due to FBB problems Post by: NetsGM on May 05, 2008, 01:11:25 PM I think this should be fixed. Pacers will confirm when he's able to run the sim.
Title: Re: sim 12 done Post by: PacersGM on May 05, 2008, 01:48:29 PM thanks to bods who found the error i was able to sim it.
the hawks missed the POs which is a big surprise to me. Also that stockton won the MVP award without getting any first team honors is even for FBB a stupid choice. Title: Re: sim 12 done Post by: PacersGM on May 05, 2008, 01:54:35 PM finally i have found my lineup for the POs. Thanks to a friendly schedule and some adjustments my team has now won 13 out of 14 games. that will give me homecourt till the east finals at least. with the addidion of drexler i have no 3 good outside defenders. this should give me enough options to match up well with any team in the east.
Title: Re: sim 12 done Post by: HornetsGM on May 05, 2008, 02:42:53 PM Nice run to finish the season. Raps are up first for me.
Title: Re: sim 12 done Post by: CavsGM on May 05, 2008, 04:41:45 PM I think that Cavs underachieved this year with 49 wins. Robinson and Person both made the all-league first team. First round matchup is the Celtics. Cavs in five... 8)
Title: Re: sim 12 done Post by: GoldenStateGM on May 05, 2008, 05:01:10 PM Well, it was a nice close to a surprisingly good season.
Very suprised no Warriors made any of the all-league teams, I think Vern deserved consideration for an all-league spot at SG, and Connor deserved an defensive award at PG. BTW, it is an absolute sin Taylor Doleac was not invited to the 3 pt contest this year, as he led the league in both field goal percentage and 3 pt percentage, despite being a 6'4" SF. Nevertheless, we closed the gap at the end of the year, passing the Suns, winning the Pacific Division, and taking the 2nd seed in the West. Now, onto a 1st round match-up with the Lakers, who we have split the season series with 2-2. The other piece of good news in this season... The Wolves, even though they finished up the season strong, are currently the 5th worst team in the league. Giving me pretty good odds to pick up a nice lottery player in this years draft. Title: Re: sim 12 done Post by: CelticsGM on May 05, 2008, 05:39:07 PM cool stuff. from borderline missing the playoffs we took a 4-0 sim to move up all the way to #5 seed.
Next up: Cavs. Gotta take it how it comes, it's not like I would have been favoured against any of the top 4. And Nets will kick it up a notch in the playoffs. Title: Re: sim 12 done Post by: MavsGM on May 05, 2008, 05:47:04 PM Our playoffs streak is still alive.
Title: Re: sim 12 done Post by: NetsGM on May 05, 2008, 06:51:00 PM Well, an impressive turnaround, even if I am forced to say so myself. And it could have been even better if only Kyle Dial took my (much bigger) offer rather than opting to stay in Utah to win the DPOY...
Nets limped to the finish line with a 4-4 sim (with Koncak - the glue of my team D, Tom - down for most of it), and ending up first in the Atlantic was a nice accomplishment though not expected. Got the usual "consistent inconsistency" from the guys, and did get to see some flashes of what Wanzer can become, which was good. Unfortunately, I saw more of what he is now....a project. This season's success was a little unusual in how it came to be - the TO's were ungodly, it was a bit of a roller coaster ride, and most performances were different than what I expected - but it was a good year none-the-less.... MJ had a real down year by his standards, going from All-League First Team to All-Nothing: it must have really dejected him being 2nd option for a while there.... Mags was great, but inconsistent..... Manning was not as strong as I expected him to be, but 17+/6+ on decent percentages in <35mpg is a nice first season..... FBB loves Pryz - I'm not sure how he managed 12 POTG's - but I'm not complaining. I love him too: 12+/9+ with 3+ bpg is another nice start to what should be a good career. And at least he manages to keep the TO's down... Nice to have two guys on the first-rook-team. Kinda shocked to see Palacio on the second all-league team - guess I goofed on that one abit :bods: Looking forward to the PO's and the 76'ers in the first round- two teams that haven't been together for a long time squaring off could easily go either way. Edit to add: Thanks Pacers for a great job this season, and thanks Bods for fixing up the issues today and your continued work making this a great league. Title: Re: sim 12 done Post by: BlazersGM on May 05, 2008, 08:09:54 PM I cant believe we've made to PO's. With all those injury's of 2 most important guys lately, i just cant believe it. Now everyone's healthy and lets try to make a Rd1 upset :)
Title: Re: sim 12 done Post by: WizardsGM on May 05, 2008, 10:04:37 PM glad to finish the season on a good streak, and healthy, winning the west.
anyone ever seen a player win MVP and not finish on an all-league team? this is a first for me Title: Re: sim 12 done Post by: Str8westcoasta on May 06, 2008, 01:11:17 PM Oh no!
I missed the playoffs, avoided a first round sweep and have a better pick as a result... dissaster! Seriosuly though, if we made the playoffs great... if we didn't oh well better pick. I didn't really mind which one happened. We are still quite a long way away from where I want. Missing the playoffs is no big deal |
