Title: Sim 7 done
Post by: PacersGM on February 27, 2008, 02:16:08 AM
well sabonis had a nice welcome from my team. traded for him to be a great sidekick to dwight but dwight decided after 2 games he needed a break.
still sabonis mastered the task leading my team to a 7-1 record and avg. 17.5pts 12.6rebs and over 3ass.
TO are a little too high and his shot blocking wasn?t there but i hope that will improve with dwight back in the lineup.
Adams still can play. starting in place of howard and avg. a double double with 2 blks a game.

best part of my trade is that i could take a deep look at rogers abilities to play PG. And boy did he respond.
Avg. 8pts 4.5 ass and only 1 TO while shooting 50% from outside and 80% from the line. can?t ask more from my backup PG.

ANOTHER .500 sim for the Rockets...

We had a winning sim 1 then have gone .500 since then. We were 4-1 with 3 days remaining in the sim, then lost to the Wolves twice (by a combined 3 points), and then the Mavs.

At least we are still hanging on to that #8 spot in the west. Also, that Kings pick is looking pretty good...

beat the Nets twice (at home) and the Pistons and Blazers too.
but lost to Pacers, Hawks, Bulls, all at home, as well as Hornets. Yikes.

But this was only the first sim with a lineup of nobodies, so nobody expected wonders.

5-3 sim with a good win over the Warriors, a bad loss to the Bulls and another injury to my (temp) starting PF.  Moved back into the western lead but it is getting very close at the top.  Luckily I have only 4 games next sim so maybe I can continue to stay in the hunt for the #1 seed out west.

Hornets starting to roll a little... 11-1 since the day 51 trades.

Tough sim to get a good feel for the team, since Rodney McCray was out for two games out of the 5...
But, still an OK 3-2 sim...

BTW, Vern Fleming, AWESOME!!!
30.6 ppg, 5.8 apg, 4.6 rpg, 1.8 spg, and only 2.4 topg.
While he did not shoot well from 3 (32%), he was great inside the arc (46%)

Taylor Doleac was the opposite, hitting 47% from 3-land, and only 41% inside the arc.

Lester Connor enjoyed his new backcourt-mate, getting 14.4 ppg, 7.2 rpg, 7.6 apg on 44% shooting.

I think Vern and Lester (two great names, BTW, the marketing department is working very hard on this one) are going to be a very complementary backcourt.  Quite excited about this squad's future right now.

Ive had some reservations about starting Palacio at the 2 - and a middling 3-3 sim (with two losses to the hated Beantowners with one disturbing 4th qtr collapse, and one to the Pacers) has done nothing to help my confidence. I think the team will flow better with Mags in at the two and Palacio a big gun off the bench. Lost top spot in the league to the surging Indianas.

And what the hell was up with Rick Mahorn this sim - he beat up on Tobey in our two matchups: outrebounding my big guy by 19  Not a fan.

It wasn't all bad news though.

On the one hand, I love this one statline from Bennett Fuqua:

14pts on 4 of 8 shooting, with 16 rebounds....in 21 minutes  :hail:

And on the other, we did have 52 pt win with the Wiz in town. Not sure if this is a record, but it has to be close, no? I remember a thread about it awhile back (but I think that was about "highest total scoring in a game". Anyone know?

And two gutty road wins by a point are nice, though again, not overly convincing.

Went 4-3 without my starting PF and SF. :bash:  Won the games we suppose to win.

4-2 sim; 2-0 at home, 2-2 on the road - no problems with that whatsoever. I think the division is out of reach as we are 7 wins behind the Spurs, but we sit 6th right now and I think moving all the way up to third is easily possible.

Stats from this sim:

C: Tyler - 8.2/13.0/2.2/1.8/1.8
PF: Borgs - 8.3/7.7/0.8/1.2/2.2
SF: Collins - 27.2/5.7/2.8/1.5/1.3to
SG: Magic - 20.5/9.0/3.0/3.3/3.8to
PG: Evans - 19.2/4.2/8.2/3.0/2.3to
sub: Macauley - 7.7/8.3 in 23min

and the best part is:
MAHORN DIDN'T EVEN START ...

Might I suggest that he has carved his niche then?

Good sim for the Raptors, 5-3, 3-1 on the road. Held opponent to under 75 points 3 times. Defensive looks pretty solid.

Scored 99.8ppg and held opp to 93.1.

KWill @ C - 17.3ppg, 13.3rpg, 1bpg

Buck @ PF - 20.9ppg, 14.3rpg, 2.5bpg (with a 12pt, 7rb, 1blk night)

Pat @ SF - 23.9ppg, 6.5rpg, 2.4apg, 1.6spg

Wiggy @ SG - 5.9ppg, 5.5rpg, 1.9apg, 2.3spg

Kersey @ PG - 13.3ppg, 4.9rpg, 9.5apg, 3.3topg

Salley off bench - 6.4ppg, 7.1rpg, 2bpg

Dailey off bench - 8ppg, 3rpg, 0.5spg

I'll take those stats for sims for years to come.

5-3 doesn't add up to .500 my friend, it adds up to 51 win seasons  :moon:

only you can get excited over something like that.
(hint: maybe he had to get better numbers than the average backup because he's playing behind a mediocre guy like Butler?)

@ Nets
sorry, my bad, Mahorn DID start since I didn't recognise the starter (Peters) was injured for the majority of the sim. Mistakenly had though initially Cliff still started PF. So heck yes, he's really good.

@ Raptors
Yea, you're closing in on .500, but I wish i hadn't refused your pick earlier this season.
With THAT team such a record is hardly something to be proud of ...

Tom it gets to a point where you need to either put up or shut up, and you and your mighty Celtics continue to do neither. Year after year we all sit around and listen to you talk about how this is the year the Celtics will take it all, then we hear you speak of how underacheiving your average-age-of-400 team is, then after you get tired of that you turn to calling out other teams. We need something a little different, this routine is starting to get stale. I think maybe we all need to see a Celtics playoff victory before we all jump to accept advice from you, guru.

oops, guess you confuse me with tom, the lousy GM from that sorry bunch of 2nd rounders - talent wise at least - in New England. Yea, we look pretty much alike, so that happens fairly often to me, but no problem.

No, these lines were coming from tom, the sports columnist and analyst. Kind of the poor man's Pete Vecsey of SSBA (yup, mostly the negatives), bashing each and everyone around. And still, be happy, or would you rather have the Sam Smith of SSBA who comes up with 39 trade ideas daily for every team ?

:-)

Just as long as your not Stephen A Smith of SSBA, then we should all be able to tolerate you ;)
