Nice.  Expiring contract central :)

And Barbosa will be a nice pg off the bench, something I really needed.

'Dre Miller took a BIG paycut to stay with his team from what other people were offering.

Shit. This sucks. I didn't think the Nuggets were going after Miller. Now I lost out any other good FA's like Kittles and Eddie Jones because I was just trying to sign Miller.

WOW...  Thank you Jake Tsakalidis...  I offered 1 extra year and more money...  What a loyal guy he is...  Can't believe that, especially since that greed rating is quite high...

you offered more money, but I believe through 3 years teh hornets offer was higher.

Got another big guy in Zendon Hamilton (needed a guy named Z since Ilgauskas left) but I am still weak at PF.

Hopefully the guy I am targeting will take my MLE

My offer for the first 3 years would have been: $18,221,760 + an extra year...

2006 184 Hornets Sign C Jake Tsakalidis for $17,972,163 over 3 years.

Hornets did have, what, 52 wins?

Title: Day 4 Free Agency Results
Post by: Iverson2Korver43 on April 04, 2005, 10:39:44 PM
I guess it could be...  Hornets have a 56 win rating, I have a 46...  Not a very big difference...  I'm just really confused and not too happy about it...  I was kinda depending on re-signing him...  I have no Center behind Ferry...  It's a good thing Thomas and Murphy can play C...

I'm happy with Blount, I think he was a great LLE pickup.

I'm really liking my team now, I got depth at every position with solid starters.  Next years free agency/offseason will be huge for me in terms of becoming a dynasty or not.

Maybe they were insulted that you offered the MLE to two different players at the same position at the same time.   :P

Should have targeted just one.

I'm sure they don't get to see my other bids.

And yeah, they must have wanted to start.

Stupid players with 23 and 2 play for winner ratings.

Anyway, I'm screwed.

Parker, Kittles, and Ginobli is decent group...

It's kind of ironic...
Nets, with 2 scoring options, Cassel would be a perfect 3rd option on your team.  But you have Daniels...

Raps, on the other hand, with Boozer, Finley, and Carter, need a pure distributor. Someone's offense is probably going to be heavily underused... Daniels would be fine as that distributor...

I love you guys. I love seeing you get flustered over the size of my giant man-team.

50 wins? Come on. I won 50 last year.

Cassell is a perfect distrubtor...9.9apg last year on a less talented team.

I have got to be the favorite this year.

And now it's all about Day 5. This could be the 2nd year in a row that no one takes my MLE.

I bet it has to do with location too. No one signs with the Raptors in the real NBA either.

Over your team?  No.  Your giant ego?  Sure ;)

Heat are still the favorite, in my opinion.
Only two players in the league that can stand toe to toe with Shaq...  And  you do not have Duncan or Yao...  Tanner is probably close.

Rockets and Mavericks will likely duke it out in the West...

I'll settle for 55. I'd be happy with that. You don't have the depth to hang with me though. I have 7 starters on my team, and I'm looking to add another.

But yes, I do have a large ego. That's why I put in the time. I talk, and my team will back me up :)

If someone is actually offended, I would stop right away. I'm just poking some fun with the other top-tier teams.

Esch, williams, murray and barbosa are comparable to your bench.  you don't have anyone to play defense on your team outside of your 2 centers.

we shall see.

With Vince in his prime you blow it up again?
You have Ellis, Vince, and Boozer, with Mihm a pretty decent center.  That is a nice core...

I have a young core, and I am pretty sure (fingers crossed) that I will be in the top 5 in the West, but I am not expecting to win the Finals, or even the conference...  But I know my team will be in it's prime when Shaq rides off into the sunset...   :D

That's what FA has been all about. There are still some decent ones left. Vince plays excellent defense.

C Mihm (A-) vs. Sammy (A) ....you by 1.

PF Boozer (B+) vs. Okafor (A-)....you by 1.

SF Finley (B) vs. Battier (A)...you by 3.

SG Vince (B+) vs. Petit (B)....me by 1.

PG Cassell (B) vs. Daniels (B)....toss up.

So you have me by only 4 ratings. For starters.

Let's look at offensive ratings.

C Mihm (B-,C-) vs. Sammy (C+,D+)...me by 2.

PF Boozer (B+,C-) vs. Okafor (A-,D)...even.

SF Finley (B-,A-) vs. Battier (C,B)....me by 3.

SG Vince (B+,A-) vs. Petit (B,B+)...me by 3.

PG Cassell (C+,A-) vs. Daniels (C,B)....me by 3.

That's me by 11.

Why don't you wait for training camp to do that comparison...
Because things are going to change....  Watch out for Pettit...  And who knows, maybe Boozer gets better, too...

But Emeka is better then Boozer, no matter how you spin it...

Look, the Raptors and Nets will be good, but will finish (as the teams are set at now) as the 4th and 5th place teams in the East.

Here are my predictions.

1. Heat
2. Wizards
3. Pacers
4. Raptors
5. Nets
6. Cavaliers
7. Pistons
8. Hornets
9. Bulls (just out of the playoffs)

That would match you two talkers in the first round of the playoffs.  Then you two can jab all you want at each other!

Title: Day 4 Free Agency Results
Post by: NetsGM on April 05, 2005, 05:02:33 PM
Raptors, you're missing the point.

you don't need 5 guys who are great scorers.  You DO need 5 guys who can play good defense.

5 guys aren't going to score 20 ppg.  You can have your +11 offense, IMO my +4 defense is just as significant.

And yes, I think I have more room for improvement this tc than you.

Title: Day 4 Free Agency Results

I agree with the heat.  I don't agree with the wizards or pacers being better than us.

1) Heat
2) Raptors
3) Nets
4) Wizards
5) Hornets
6) Pacers
7) Pistons
8) Bulls
9) Cavs (just have a couple of holes to fill and they can jump all the way up to 4)

Title: Day 4 Free Agency Results
Post by: SonicsGM on April 05, 2005, 05:10:21 PM
Wiz...Amare, Sheed and Arenas push them to the top...that's three All-Star quality players and a bunch of good role players (Etan Thomas, Fortson, Szerbiak)

Pacers....JOneal, Artest, Tinsley and Mutombo make four very very good starters.  Good defensive club.

Nets need depth, and will struggle a little if anybody gets into foul trouble.
Raps need defense and depth at the SG and SF positions.

The heat are the only team that stand a chance to top myself and the Nets. The ONLY chance. And once I get my signing of MLE tonight, I'll have depth and defense at the 2/3.

I'm going to score a ton of points, and play solid D too. Last year I had about the same team defence wise, and was in the upper half in defense.

The Wiz have Sheed and Amare, but calling Arenas an asset is a strech.

Bottom line- I have 3 all-stars on my team.

Last year I was 3rd in the East. There is no chance I don't improve on that.

I know how you feel. I made my trades for Boozer and Cassell before the draft. Since then, I've only waited to add 2-3 role players. And even they won't sign with me.

It's the worst part of FBB, which is a great program. But the offseason takes longer than the damn season itself.

as for the offseason, I just don't see any way to speed it up.  It's long, but it's also generally the busiest time, player movement wise.  I'm afraid speeding up will lessen the quality of work people can do.

you don't understand. it would take 10 - 20, or even more minutes for me to seriously analize some trades, teams, picks etc. i have to watch on grammar, then there is always some word that i don't know how to spell or to write and alot of other problems that occurs during the translation. and than i, off course, lose my nerves and finaly decide (sadly) to just type some easy kind of trash talk or provocation. but as i said, i won't do that again anymore. except off course, someone (like you maybe?) start to push me...

btw that "sam cassell to 2" stuff of your was stupid, you know i didn't mean to move  bibby to 2. but alright...i have you on radar from this point on

Kings - if you wrote like that ^ all the time, no one would complain.

Nets - you're right, there is no way to speed it up. There is a long offseason in the NBA too. It just makes us even more ready for the start. :)

BTW, Nets, are you planning to start simming@ 9 or have it up at 9?

I'm thinking I can shave off 2 days by making people have the extension decisions due by the last sim of the playoffs.  Then shave off 3 days in the draft (rather than doing 5 picks per day in the first round, do five picks one day, 5 picks the next day, then 10 picks the third, 10 the fourth.  trading drops bigtime after the first 10 picks).  Then shortening the 2nd round into 2 days rather than 3.

The draft sheets actually turned out much better than I anticipated.  So did the extension decisions (twan and jem both sent them out after the playoffs.  I sent them out before the playoffs).

That can shave 5 days off of our offseason, which cuts it down by a 3rd, and means we should be able to knock it out in 11-13 days.

Anymore than that I think would be severely rushed.

Actually, I think that would work awesome. There would still be "empty" space to trade in.

And ok, 9 pm, I'm going to hope like hell I can be here in case I need to sign someone fast.

Hmm. Tayshaun Prince and Eddie Crotty are going to lead you to a title? C'mon. You're two positions away from being called elite.

Z, Martin, and James(after training camp) are the cream of the crop at each of their respective positions. They more then make up for it. Prince and Crotty are both adequate, with great defense. And with a couple signings tonight, hopefully, my depth will be solid as well. I'm looking forward to a very good season for the Cavs.

Good luck. Z KMart and James are comparable 5,4,and 2's to many other teams.

But Prince and Crotty are not comparable.

Prince was the starting SG on the Western Conference champs.  His defense, size and outside shot are well worth starter's material.
