Title: Day 3 Free Agency Results
Post by: NetsGM on April 03, 2005, 06:30:44 PM
Grrr......

I'd just like to say, I'd like to damn the person who designed this interface.

Enter in nearly all of the bids.  Have 2 teams left.  In the interface there are two buttons, one that says "submit offer", another that says "process" day.  I accidentally hit the wrong button :(

Now I have to go back, load up my save from last night, and re-enter all the bids.

Give me 30 minutes.

No problem. Take your time.

It would be interesting to see if players rejected offers the first time you ran it, and accpeted the same offer the second time. Or vice-versa.

Yay!  20 minutes later I'm back at the same point.  Just a few more to go.

Raps: would be interesting.  But I forgot to check who signed where.  I wasn't thinking coherently at the time, more like hitting my keyboard, closing the program and re-opening the save :)

Nets,

If possible, I sent over one more offer.

If you can do it, great.  If not, then no big deal.

Thanks in advance.

Woohoo!

I got Aaron Williams!

Yes, I like Aaron.  He'll be a nice backup.  Can score, and isn't a liability on defense or on the boards.  When Boozer was out he almost single-handedly kept me out of a top 2 pick, bastard.

And yes, he's vastly overpaid.

But guess what, since he was my own FA, I didn't have to use my MLE or anything on him.  I'm already over the cap, so I'm not hurting my flexibility there.  and I'm not paying out the money.

So I just acquired an 8 million dollar expiring salary to be used at the deadline for nothing ;)

Picked up a couple of much-needed bigs.

Now, I have around 1.5 million to spend plus my MLE and LLE on some more bigs.

Look out, the Sonics look pretty darn good again.

Yeah, that's the problem I'm having.  "Win Rating" doesn't reflect future ability to win, only past.

so we're SOL basically.

Same here, although my MLE and LLE offers were a bit of a strech anyways.  I'm really hoping House's size at SG doesn't affect his play too much.

yea, there's still a few quality guys left but w/the other teams that still haven't used their MLE i'm banking on not getting a decent player

Well, play for winner should go in my favor.

Anyway, I'm not going to change my bids for tommorow, i just hope against hope that I get a guy with the MLE or LLE.

I am really happy with this. I will have a balanced team now. Still future financial flexibility and youth and best players are locked up. I am very happy with the re-signing of Sampson in LA. He did a great job last season in limited minutes.

Question: Did I sign 2 players to the LLE? Sampson and Bell?!  I thought this was impossible??

You actually had 1.3 million in cap room, clips.  Since you had more cap room than the LLE, you didn't have to use it for the first guy.  So you signed one guy with your 1.2 million in cap room, then the following with the LLE.

Yeah, but you lost the use of your MLE now, didn't you?

Wait...  the way I read the rules, you cannot use the MLE if you have more then the MLE in cap space available.
Are you saying that once you use up the money, you can then use the MLE???

you can use the MLE as long as you don't have 4.5 million in cap space.

But that is per day, and not per the year?
That is the part that seems odd...

If the nets have 5 mil cap space, and sign aaron willaims to a 8 mil contract, then they are now 3 mil over the cap. period. so now the can use the mle and lle.

That is very much unlike the NBA, and I am glad that I now understand...
Thanks for the explanation...

I'm somewhat pleased to get McInnis with the MLE...  His ratings were solid, and i "Needed" a back-up PG...  The thing I really like about him is he has a better Ast/TO ratio than Nash...  Now, hopefully i can pick up one more piece in day 4...

On a side note - I have a stockpile of SF's...  If anyone's interested in one, please send a PM...  I am in need of a Center...  He doesn't even have to have that great of ratings...

I think that I can smell a 5th good PG signing with the Sonics.  He's too good to pass up, even though I have Schenk, Payton, Watson and Lopez.

And soon to be seen in the Positional Trade thread...  Gary Payton to Center...

Well, I have a bunch of good players.  The problem, they all play PG and SF.  (And I can't deal any of them for 60 Days!!!!)

So this may be the lineup:

Schenk (Perhaps Miller?)
Payton
Melo
Mashburn
Olowokandi

Then the next four guys off the bench are PGs!

LOL, yeah, you have a bit of an unbalanced rotation.  signing miller would make it even worse, although it would still be a good signing.

Depends...  There is a point when it is ridiculous overkill...  And the Sonics are just about there.. lol
And, I am still miffed you beat me to Watson, and now will probably not even play him...
Are Schenk and Miller the duo of the future?

I'm very happy with my results, I can now start Campbell who is a big center and move Okur to 4 where I think his gamestyle fits better, Neither play too many minutes a game but I'm really happy with my depth inside now and the flexibility I have with my lineup - players who I can swing around SG, SF, PF, C with a dominant PG. Best of all, Jefferson and Kirilenko are set to improve.

I think moving AK47 back to his original posiotn will be huge for you...
One of the better combinations in the league with JKidd, Jefferson, and AK47...

I'm assuming your going after a swingman possibly a SF.  Why don't you just move Vince to the 3?

I will move Finley to the 3, of course. I'm just looking for a strong backup. The 2nd rounder's are not going to be primary backups this early. Right now I have:

Mihm/Ostertag/Johnson
Boozer/Ostertag/Johnson
Finley/            /Bee
Vince/Ellis/Archibald
Cassell/Ellis/Lovelette
