Title: sim 12 done
Post by: PacersGM on January 14, 2008, 04:34:33 AM
well dwight did it again. back to back MVP trophys. and after playing all games in 2 seasons without an injury he had to get one before POs  :(
i was sure my streak would end this sim with nets and hornets but i lost to the blazers  and beat the rest of my opponents. Since movingkersey into my starting lineup i am now 26-2  :hotbounce:
i also proved that i can some games without dwight. Let's what i can do against the heat.

wow, what a shocker. Dwight will be out a full 2 games against the worst playoff team after midseason. That truly hurts ...
;-)

Celtics finished the season strong and once again took the 2nd seed from the stumbling Nets ... and this time it's really the 2nd best record in the conference, beating the Hornets by a game. Nice.

My lineup experiments didn't run all too well, so let's see what I can come up with for Bods and his Pistons.

At the awards front, the Celtics - as always - came up short on a single POTW/POTM/ROTM award, once again showing what great TEAM it is. And i won't complain for a second, as I prefer a team were any of the starters can put up numbers over a superstar-led squad. But what a shocker in the reg season awards: Quincy Peters took AllLeague 3rd team honors and Billy Thompson's great rookie season ended with a 2nd team award. Bravissimo ...

crap

yeah, saw it too. What a pity, great run for the worst record and then getting f..... by the cpu once again.
but i'm sure you'll recover and come back stronger !

If we played like this sim we would be in POs, not where we are. And without the pick. Damn.

wow, no, that I didn't realize. I just thought you're depressed because of the CPU.
But hey, it's not like LeBron is entering this draft ...

A very encouraging 5-2 sim with key wins against Dallas and Golden State without Evans (who ended up taking home a 3rd team award without playing a full season). Locked up home court through the Western side of things with relative ease and finished with 60 wins. We play the Kings, whom we beat 4-0 during the season. I wont get the same satisfaction with whooping them as I would have if they had their old GM hehe.
Fuqua got 6th man, congrats buddy!

Stats from last sim:

C: Kleine - 7.7/10.0/1.4/0.9/0.9
PF: Borgmann - 13.6/6.7/1.0/1.4/2.0
SF: Collins - 20.0/5.6/2.9/1.1/0.9
SG: Magic - 18.1/6.4/3.4/2.3
PG: Dampier - 13.0/4.9/7.7 with 2.9to

3-1 to end the season, look for the raptors to be back in the playoff picture next year

Person cleaned up at the awards show...Rookie of the Year, All-League Second Team and All-Rookie First Team. He ended the year having played 73 games and acheiving 15 POTG, 25 double-doubles and 2 triple doubles. A very successful rookie campaign considering we had to play him out of position.

I'd take Buck over Phil Hubbard any day. He finished the year as the best rebounder in the league at 25 years old.

Willis proved to be a great addition, I love his injury-prevention ability. In 3 seasons, he hasn't missed a game - that's huge.

Pryz had his chances to shine and occasionally did - would love to bring him back on the cheap.

Schader will remain in the starting lineup next season it looks...

Realistically I'm going into the offseason with a starting C, PF and SF that are all 25 or under and all have star potential. I have an under-30 defensive stud at SG and a decent swingman backup. I also have the (morethanlikely) 13th and 27th picks...my draft list is 28 strong right now and that's after first glance (I like this draft alot). After the picks I should have about 10-12.5 million in cap space to spend, needing only a starting PG and a backup bigman with those picks and cash.

Man, what a horrible FBB fault once again getting a 21ppg, 6.5apg, 3.5topg PG on a 37 win team who plays no D an AllLeague 2nd team award at SF. "Decent stats on a bad team" syndrome, lots of POTG. Horrible choice.

As for the outlook to next season, guess how many of the current playoff teams were playoff teams last season ?

14.
Knicks replaced the Hawks and Sonics replaced the Grizzlies.

And compared to two seasons ago ?

13.
Heat replaced Hawks, Wolves and Kings replaced Blazers and Grizzlies.

And of course none of the teams mentioned above made it to the 2nd round.

In fact you have to go back to the 2019 season to see a different picture: Pacers, Celtics, Hornets, Bucks, Knicks, Pistons and Heat were lottery teams then (and all current lotto teams were among the top 8, of course), only Nets are in the playoffs since the 2017 season.

In the West it's worse, Mavs, Spurs are always in, Warriors, Jazz, Sonics nearly every season, while Lakers, Rockets, Suns haven't seen postseason action for quite some time now.

Doesn't look to well for the lottery teams of now.

You got to be kidding me, Phil Ford, the guy I picked up from the street is out for the playoffs and his backup is out for game 1.  That's three straight years, that one of my starter is out for the playoffs. :bash:

Sweet, I have 2 decent picks with mine and the Lakers this year...

Playoffs, here we come...I think the Sonics/Warriors series will go 7 games...should be a good one

Ended the season rather poor, but I'm looking forward to the offseason...specifically free agency and training camps. I'm comfortable building around Daugherty, Bowie, Charles Barkley, Mullin and Charles heading into free agency.

Disappointing last sim to stay behind the C's in the Atlantic, and place fourth in the playoff standings.

On to the Bucks who have a good team and should be a good first round opponent.

Drew the Nets, who dispatched me with ease in the first round last year.  And I had home court last year.

Nets have home court, swept me, and I'm missing Harris for the first 4 games.  Not looking good.

LMAO, my mistake...I was considering putting Kenny Barkley on that list, and completely mixed up the names.
