kersey and butler should give me a terrific outside guard combo. barkley seems to have a lot of pot since he improved a lot in the last TC but is still at least 2 years away from contributing. my pick could be lotto if howard retires but i believe i can build a decent team around kersey, newcomb and mark.

and just like that, the Pacers rebuilding plans were abandoned again, with just another rip-off.

Barkley has scored 15 points in a game, amazing. He might become a decent backup in a few seasons. If he EVER get's close to 24yr old Kersey's ratings NOW i would be surprised. And the pick ... well, we know the Pacers, so if you think about lottery, dream on.

Are you for real?

You talk a lot of nonsense. Do you honestly consider Kersey to be some sort of superior player? Is he not replaceable? His 'B' defense and 'D' potential is less than desireable, and I can guarantee that I'll sign a PG with similar or better ratings in the offseason.

You're using Barley's career highs in points as a reason to label this trade as a rip off? He was recently drafted, has played in 22 games...and averages 6 mpg. However, is B C+ C+ B C- B ratings not good enough for a 21 year old player? Nobody said he's going to be a star, or did you read it in my original post?

As for the pick, Dwight, Newton, Shultz and Butler will be retired by then. Who does that leave them with? Newcomb and Agguire? With no other tradeable assets other than draft picks...I can imagine they'd have a difficult time building a contending team with their best players gone.

Do you not think before responding to a trade? Or just look at ratings and jump to conclusions, while insulting me...calling my trades a 'joke'?

Kersey has career numbers of 45pts and 18ass. And there are a lot of great PGs with mediocre defense but great handling and scoring that are successful. He's 24 only, and even if he doesn't improve a single rating for the rest of his career he'll be the best playe in the deal.

Perkins has played a lot more in preseason, and there's a reason he only averages 6mpg (hint: he's not good enough)

As for the pick, great teams/GMs tend to be successful ... unless they have their own pick. There's so much time for rebuilding and somehow I believe a lot more rip-off deals will keep the Pacers successful. One thing you can count on: he'll get a LOT in return for his washed-up veterans.

Did I insult you? If so, guess what: the Lakers are a lousy team for a decade now and such trades are maybe the reason ...
;)
