pacers TC:
finally Newcomb showed some rating improvements. he was such a good scorer the last 2 seasons that i was already wondering if the pot was really true since he didn?t improve his inside ratings at all. but look at this year.
+1 inside, defense and rebounding and still young with B pot
If he can improve 1 more time i won?t regret my hinson trade anymore
Ostertag: i had high hopes for him. was considering him as my starter but now with -1 inside and defense and only +1 reb no way
dwight lost pot who cares  :D
wright -1 handles could be a good FA pickup so late in FA
Battaile Massenburg improved pot at least he didn?t lost anything else.
Mark Aguirre hoped he would improve his defense, but again he improved his strenght scoring. +1 inside still not sure if he is a starter for my team. SF could be my weakest position this year.
Lenard -1 inside and outside
Shultz -1 inside but kept his A+ def
Kenny Barkley great find so late in the draft. +1 inside, outside and +2 defense lost 1 pot will get some mins this year
Dave Rogers +1 defense still only c+ there
Alphonse Butler -1 handling
Quentin Przybilla -1 defense a waste

at first glance: top rookie improvements

Horny (Raptors) +5
Barkley (Pacers) +4
Azario (Magic) +4
McCracken (Pacers) +3
Calinoff (Celts) +3
Cory Kidd (FA) +3
Danny Perkins (FA) +3
(Stockton from the Nuggets might be there as well)

and the a handful of +2, most notably
Dawkins (Wolves)
Bias (Blazers)
Salley (Cavs)
Pressley (Pistons)

biggest "disappointments":
Tarpley, Person "only" +1
Rodman only lost pot
Mark Price gained reb, but he would have needed more.

decent draft, only 6 of 50 drafted lost net ratings, but just 7 with more than +2 - and 5 of those are long term projects - is mediocre in comparison to earlier drafts.

Um...Ralph Sampson...A inside...yeah, that was an unbelievable trade...

Pistons win this thing in a landslide...I'm predicting 70 wins...especially if they can land a true SF

that doesn't have draft picks or the right teams for FA's.

Guess I shoulda gone with Bias, and like ING says "save my money".

Again, nothing too worth commenting on - probably a net loss. None of my project bigs gained anything of note, some lost abit. Kenny Walker, on balance, stayed the same (+1D/-1IN). Curry stayed the same I think. Tobey lost one grade of D, CRob picked up REB.

early look at top TC improvements (apart from the rooks already covered):

Terry Cummings (Knicks) +4
Rick Carlisle (Magic) +4
Henry Saperstein (Suns) +4

Joe D (Magic) +3
Vince Keogan (age 34) +3 !!!!!!!!  :D
Byron Thomas (Jazz), Newcomb (Pacers), Kite (Mavs) +3
(plus a few more)

MJ, Sabonis, Sid Green, Dawkins, that other Jordan, Ewing, Wootten, (and many more) +2

WORST:

Wiley Pech (Rockets) -3
Charles Barkley (Spurs) -2 !!!!!!!!
Michael Brooks (Grizz), Brenadan LaFrentz (Clipps) -2
Ricky Pierce (Rockets) -2

damn

we might call the Pistons deals with Spurs and Suns the rip-off of the decade.

Munson declined as well.

BTW, Barkley only declined one (he was a B at PF, B+ at SF).  He declined one from TC, and one from the position change, not two from TC.

Looking back on my deals that seemed like slam dunks and that I thought lined me up to be a premium team in the east for a long time....

Woot had a nice camp; Hubbard looks just as good as before; Kersey improved - Tobey -1. I still take Tobey of course....

F.Johnson looks the same - C.Rob didn't bump in offensive ratings at the three like I hoped; Curry stayed the same. Jury's out on this one - at least I ended up with some cap flex.

Schmalz is holding kinda strong (-1DEF where it matters for him) - Fleischer improved his REB I think. This deal allowed me the cap space to sign Outlaw the guard, who I really like - so I'm fine with this one too.

FSanders stayed about the same - Kenny Walker the same. Slew of picks remain on Raps stack.

Looked like a great chance to really step forward (my mistake was banking on POT helping out right away - I've learned that lesson now), but I think we're probably less strong than we were last year, and at least not as good as I hoped this year. With Pistons looking superb, Hornets looking great, and Pacers having anomaly-type developments from some guys, looks much the same in the East - a dog-fight.

On to pre-season.

sorry, bods, of course i noticed Munson.
but it would be half the fun ripping you if i had mentioned ...
;-)

the position changes i didn't take into account so far, though.

So-so, my wish was for Hakeem to finally improve his rebs or D, but he did nothing for 3rd straight year.

Bias improved +2, he can even play some little defense, nice.

Drexler is a lazy cow, same TC for 3rd straight year.

O'Neill and Cock guy stayed the same, im happy with that.

Porter improved defense, Phelps lost handles.

Thats about it, nothing bad, nothing great for Blazers.

Excellent TC for the Raptors. Should make the upcoming year very exciting.

Pryz went +1 in rebounding, and will start in PS1 to see what he can do.

Buck stayed the same, which is all I ask for from him.

Person was +1 in defense. Honestly was hoping for something more but at this point if he doesnt regress thats a good thing.

Like mentioned, Jeff Hornacek, my 19th overall pick went +5 and is now A-/B+/B+ in the PG categories. Wow. We'll see what he has in PS, but he's likely going to backup the 1 and 2 for now.

The nicest surprise might be Ransey's increase in outside scoring and defense. He's becomming as very useful scorer and improving in other categories as well.

Very happy with that good TC for a good young team.

Post by: HawksGM on December 10, 2007, 08:09:13 AM
very good TC for the Hawks, all my young guys got better, a few older guys got worse.  Now Johnny Martin might have the edge on Laimbeer for starting C.  Ehlo has the ratings to take over for Brewer and Drazen got better offensively, but is still not ready.

Tarpley improved +1
Allen Coles EXPLODED as far as scoring goes. New starter
Peck IMPROVED, I just changed his position
Otis Thorpe has better D now and looks good.
Oakley now has B+ inside

Very good camp for the Rockets

Up and down TC for the Hornets.

Disappointed that Nutie only improved his outside shooting -- get on that rebounding Noot! He must have been training with Sam Dalembert over the summer.

Stockton improved an outside, but lost a D... Didn't like that.

Hinson improved a rebound. Nice!, but lost an inside scoring and a handle. Boo.

Wilkins and Doleac didn't change.

Macy went +2, improving an inside scoring and a defense. Sweet.

I'm very excited for preseason. I think this team is bad ass.

You know Walkers pot so stay the course and dont feel bad. 1 TC shouldnt change everything

Not much changed in Warrior land...
My MLE signing Matthew Hobson gained in inside and defense, lost a handle.
Tyson Thurmond gained in inside.
Don Collins and Bennet Fuqua both lost a defense.

Stephan Sylvester lost a rebound, which hurts...
John Williams lost a defense and a rebound.

Lester Connor gained an outside (finally), and Adam Forston gained a defense.

Joe Kleine: +1 HND, DEF, REB  -- after nothing in year 1, I totally didnt expect this

Borgmann: +1 DEF -- now an A, hope his shotblocking increased, too bad his rebounding didnt (still C+)

Zollner: -1 HND, -1 DEF -- the defensive downgrade hurts, looks like him and Kleine may trade roles

Cunningham: -1 IN, -1 DEF -- the 2 things he was brought back for, declined. Ouch.

Nesterovic: -1 DEF --  just a min signing, but interior D is going to be a problem off the bench

Dean Ezekie: +1 IN -- min signing now rated higher than Kareem  :lmao:

George Johnson: +1 OUT - excellent; B/B+ shooter should make him a better 3rd option this year

Xavier McDaniel: +1 OUT -- B-/B shooter, maintains B defence, here is to hoping his handles miraculously got better without showing it

Tristan Stockton: +1 IN, +1 OUT -- 22nd pick of the second round, cool. This is why I purposely picked a high schooler

Magic: +1 OUT -- awesome, now A-/B/B+/A-/C+

Evans: no change -- he's 30, so I will take that and run

Dampier: no change -- MLE so that is OK

Wallace: -1 DEF -- was 3rd/4th string PG anyways and my LLE

Net: +3 with Kleine making up the difference.

Hornets: Kyle Macy is a jerk. Watch out, he will stab you in the back before all is said and done....

So, anyway he is available?

Oh, and Nutie is some kinda 'nick for Bol....

Hawks: Curious to see if Martin's improved rating makes him more effective....PT was always the issue for him here, hopefully he can make an impact with you.

Nuggs: Joe Kleine is looking nice, congrats.

Yep, actually I think his nickname is 'Nute, but I'm on a more personal level with him.

Hopefully he starts jacking threes in my outside-oriented offense.

Overall I can't be too upset with my TC.  Brice and Blackman stayed the same.  I was hoping from some improvement from Blackman, but I'll take it.

Sampson improved +1 inside, which was far more than I could have asked for.  It'll be interesting to see what he does as a top option.

Munson lost 1 in handles and 1 in rebounding.  Still a very good rebounder.  But at least his defense stayed at A.

Wu lost 1 outside, gained 1 handles.  I was hoping for more.

Pressley with +2 defense.  He might be my starting SF next to blackman.

Artest with +1 in defense, but Telfair -2 in defense.  Not sure who's going to be the backup PG yet.

...
Net: +3 with Kleine making up the difference.

Sorry to spoil the party, but Joe was B- rebounding last season already, so make that +2.
But he's 19 only, so that isn't bad.

Boston is pretty happy with their training camp.

With a team relying heavily on veterans you always prepare for the worst, and I must say this TC was a pleasant surprise:
Wedge stayed the same  :)
Peters stayed the same  :)
Tyler went -1 def at C  :?
Moncrief went up on inside and handles
Guiterrez stayed the same  :)
Trump stayed the same
Perry stayed the same

now on to the even better stuff:
Evan Hunt +3 (at least), finally pushing the ratings closer to his production
Sam Mitchell + 2 inside and outside shooting  :)
Kyle Tornopsky +1 outside (-1 handles)

and finally
Billy Thompson gained on reb and maybe def (so +1 or +2)
Parker Calinoff +3
Danny Perkins +3
I know, these are 2nd rounders only, but at least it looks promising ...

+1 in inside, the rest stayed the same.

I'm a happy dude ...

at least now TOM can prove he is a better trainer than ivan, if chambers suddenly can hit a layup  :lmao:

yeah, he's doing layup drills in the gym already.
and he's bettered his shooting % to 45% already

tomorrow i plan on getting some opponents in to add defense to the drills.

Greg Kite is a beast... as I predicted the guy has exploded. He will be one of the best defensive centres in the league for years to come... Love him like the brother I never had... or the sister I never wanted...

Not too many happy campers in the Clippers front office. Yuk. Big yuk.
LaSalle is still the best. LaFrentz will still score a lot. Green despite his potential stayed the same. Same with Price. Sura is very solid.

Expected a lot more from this tc.

None of my core changed, except for Gragg adding 2 defensive ratings to get up to B, surprisingly.  Won't complain.
