Wow...this steal beat the Blackman-from-the-Sonics steal by a ton ... and that was only a steal because Blackman improved dramatically in training camps.

Pistons are now the odds-on favorite to win it all this year in my opinion.

Good deal for the Pistons if Sampson's potential isn't awful.

Making a division rival stronger while making yourself worse? Wow.

I understand why the Hornets made a trade...
Trying to create an outside based offense, with Macy, Stockton, and Dominique that Sampson did not fit into...
And the HornetsGM has always loved shotblockers, and Manute is an excellent one.

But the value returned is, well, atrocious.

Great for the Pistons...  If they can control their turnovers, the East will go through Detroit.

Problem: With a bunch of three point shooters, you are going to need a rebounder in the middle.

Do you know why those shooters were great last year?  It's because Sampson (11.5 RPG) and Hinson (11.0 RPG) were hauling in over 22 rebounds per game.

I don't think those shooters are going to do as well minus one of the better rebounders in the SSBA

Being a 3pt shooting team myself, I could not agree with you more....   :D

Good golly, at least trade him out West.  :bash:

Pistons win this one by a fair margin I think just by virtue of Ralph's more balanced game.

I think this puts the Pistons right there at the top of the division and conference, but then again the Hornets won't exactly be chopped liver: with their wings and Hinson/Bol swatting everything all the time, they are still a force...but that division just got much more even at the top.

Oh my.

What's the love with Manute Bol?  Hornets now have two defensive minded bigs that cannot score.  I can not name a team that won the title with two defensive minded bigs.

i have no idea why the hornets made such a stupid move. where is the difference from bol to Dan McCracken? with bol this team won?t be better than with dan but now they will miss the regular 20 points ralph gave them. In less than 2 seasons the hornets have gone from a dynasty to PO contender. what a joke.

Who cares, I am sure you can still get more than Manute Bol for Sampson

Potential is vastly overrated. If he stays like he is now for the next 5 seasons the Pistons win by a landslide.

Alright, well I suppose I should give my reasoning behind this.

Wilkins is my franchise player. Ralph and Wilkins could never co-exist, and in fact, when Ralph played it seemed like the whole team suffered. I believe Stockton will continue to emerge as a scoring PG, and Macy will pick up the scoring slack as well. With Ralph out of the lineup last season with an injury, my team ran much more efficiently and had a better record than with him in the lineup.
Bol is a significant improvement over McCracken, imo, and I think Bol will emerge as the premiere shotblocker in the league. I have the added bonus of him being 21 and still on his rookie deal.

I think I'll have another 60 win season, but I expected to be flamed for this trade, and my expectations were met, lol.

(for the record, I have never checked Sampson's potential and I have no idea what it is)
