Title: Raptors now offer package (Ransey and Schader) Post by: RaptorsGM on November 26, 2007, 10:52:36 AM With the recent youth movement in Toronto, it's unclear whether or not Ransey has a long term future with the ball club.
Alot of people greatly underestimate Ransey, and I'm certainly not one of them. He was fantastic as a Raptor, at both SG and PG. Have a look at the ratings... PG 28 6'1'' 170 B+ B A- B- D+ C The "B+" inside rating is the highest among all active PGs in SSBA - starters, backups, IR players or otherwise. There are only 41 other active players in SSBA (including draft, FA and ALL postions) with a B+ or higher inside scoring rating, and many of them do not have enough skill in other areas of the game to start or even contribute at all. This is a time when inside scoring has become a premium in SSBA. Ransey is, ratings wise, the best inside scoring PG. His "B" outside rating has translated into a 40% 3 pt shooter which is admirable given his ability to score inside as well. Last year, his average of .403 had him ranked 21st in the league for players averaging 30 or more mins per game, regardless of attempts per game (certainly ransey had more attempts than the C's and PF's averaging higher than him). That's the 21st best 3 pt shooter in the league among those playing starting minutes, with the best inside rating of any PG. He is certainly among the more turnover prone starting PGs in the league...but really, you get what you pay for, a concept I think some of us have a hard time grasping. If you are a team starving for offense, a PG able to routinely put up 25/5/10 with 4 turnovers is more valuable than a 12/3/8 with 2 turnovers. You take the good when it greatly outweighs the bad. I know what you are saying...this all sounds good, but Ransey is a turnover prone PG who can't defend worth a lick. Well, if I haven't convinced you yet that he is a legit star, let's plow through so stats.... Career season high of 4.5 rebounds / game, with a career average of 4.1. Consistently outrebounding his PG opponent almost every night. Think having a PG that can rebound doesn't matter? I personally do. Career he is a 9+ assist / game man without all his time spent at SG. When he started at PG for the raptors, his turnovers were always between 3.5-4 a game while the assists never dipped below 9.5 and most of the time hovered around 11-12. Obviously his best quality is his ability to score...1 season removed from a 27 ppg season when primary scorer - That would have ranked 3rd in the league last season. So after all of this...what am I looking for? The same thing we are ALL looking for - youth and picks. I'm not asking for the type of package you would dole out for a Sampson or a Hakeem. I'm asking for your offer, whatever it may be. UPDATE Ok so Ransey played very, very well in both preseasons at SG. Clearly that is where he would like to play, and since I can't facilitate that, I was hoping someone could come up with an offer. I'd like to package Ransey if I can with Schader. He was a fantastic defender who was getting 15ppg after sim 1 and T6th in the league in steals. Some of the things I'd be looking for... 1. Some cap relief 2. 1st Round Draft Picks 3. A long term potential starter at C 4. A long term potential starter at PG 5. Title: Re: Raptors now offer package (Ransey and Schader) Post by: RaptorsGM on December 17, 2007, 08:59:45 AM Robert Swift can be made available too for those looking for a big man....12.7rpg (6th in league) with basically an expiring contract as the 35 year old will almost assurdly retire after this season.
