Title: rd 1 done Post by: PacersGM on November 21, 2007, 01:01:40 AM well i am little surprised with my team game. lost 2 close games to the pistons while leading in both games at half time. LB is doing a great job with charles but brice is killing me at the moment. part 2 will be done in 12 hours.
Title: Re: rd 1 part 1 up Post by: WizardsGM on November 21, 2007, 02:24:45 AM Won 2 close games, blown out once on my home floor. Glad we managed to go and take one back in San Antonio but we are in tough. They are playing Magic real well, he had a 9 turnover game. Rookie Joe Kleine has stepped up, with 8 blocks in 3 games off the bench. Hope we can keep it together for 2 more wins and not drag this out too long.
Title: Re: rd 1 part 1 up Post by: BucksGM on November 21, 2007, 02:31:59 AM Nets won 2 of 3 decisively, though they lost Wooten in the process.
Title: Re: rd 1 part 1 up Post by: CelticsGM on November 21, 2007, 03:43:50 AM For some reason the Hawks managed to take game 1 in Boston by 1 in OT. Shooting 48% and 67% on threes.
But gladly we held them to 34% for the following two games. Celtics are averaging 66 rebounds and 12 steals per contest, which makes life a lot easier. If not for nearly 16 topg this could be over soon. In other games, Pistons surprise even me. Nets looked too much for Bucks, but I'm not sure who should play Rex now. With Koncak, Martin, and Vice they still have good defenders, but neither has any offense, so the Bucks might switch Rex on Schmaltz to stop the Nets' offense ... but what if the Nets move Schmaltz back to C. Will be interesting to watch. Furthermore, I still have no explanation how the Heat could win game 4. West is fun too, with Warriors nearly through, Jazz and Nuggets still with the upper hand. But don't count out the Spurs, hope this series isn't decided by injury. Mavs and Grizz will be a dogfight, since without Keogan nobody can stop Brooks. I still have the latter one advancing ... Title: Re: rd 1 part 1 up Post by: NetsGM on November 21, 2007, 05:38:26 AM Nets won 2 of 3 decisively, though they lost Wooten in the process. Yeah, that part is a shame. That Mehta is one dirty SOB.Lost game one in MIL, choking up a 9pt lead in the 4th. Woot was great in that one, Hubbard killed in his matchup that wasn't Natt. The PG's as you might predict, went toe-to-toe. Game two, Mehta was a beast - though Woot gave it a good shot, Hubbard came alive and helped out, and Bradley did a nice job on Natt. Game three, Koncak stepped up against Mehta, Milner exploded. Happy with the series so far, but it's a long way from over. Good luck Bucks. *Oh, Pacers: please change our defensive settings to "dirty" lol. Just kidding - DC submitted. Pacers-Pistons looks interesting. More evidence of the strength in the East. Heat stole one from Hornets, too.West is going pretty much according to Hoyle. Title: Re: rd 1 part 1 up Post by: NetsGM on November 21, 2007, 06:01:49 AM In other games, Pistons surprise even me. If he moves Mehta, he might miss Schmalz altogether , and will have to work harder on D which might see him sacrifice some offence - since Shmalzy plays him pretty rugged with the size advantage. The one thing I know is that Devin is playing his heart out against Hubbard, and winning that battle somewhat. In any event, it'll be the first thing I check when I get home from work today. Oh, and I'm also hoping Hawks take out the C's - though I'm not entirely sure how they'd go about it 8) Title: Re: rd 1 part 1 up Post by: HeatGM on November 21, 2007, 06:24:16 AM im also shocked to win one game :) i just got murdered the first two games...maybe newton just played great :)
Title: Re: rd 1 part 1 up Post by: GoldenStateGM on November 21, 2007, 08:56:38 AM Barton and Collins are just playing great basketball...
Terry Teagle has been a very pleasant surprise, shooting very well from behind the arc. Warriors are playing freat basketball, very happy so far... Title: Re: rd 1 part 1 up Post by: BucksGM on November 21, 2007, 11:53:01 AM Quote It's a 50/50 game - the C/PF rotation. I'm curious to see what Bucks does too. If he moves Mehta, he might miss Schmalz altogether Yeah, if I could make one change to FBB's settings, it would be to allow us to pick defensive matchups regardless of position. Obviously I want Mehta to defend Schmaltz, but that requires guessing correctly as to which position Nets will put him in the depth chart. Since I guessed wrong the first time around, Mehta's defense pretty much went to waste on Wooten while Schmaltz owned my lesser bigs. Title: Re: rd 1 part 1 up Post by: NetsGM on November 21, 2007, 12:03:52 PM Quote Yeah, if I could make one change to FBB's settings, it would be to allow us to pick defensive matchups regardless of position Yup. There's a lot i'd like to improve if I were good enough to. Title: Re: rd 1 part 1 up Post by: WizardsGM on November 21, 2007, 12:07:56 PM NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Won game 4 and preceeded to lose 3 straight and the Spurs advance in 7. I'm shocked, apalled and downright upset with this team right now. Title: Re: rd 1 done Post by: PacersGM on November 21, 2007, 12:13:20 PM PO rd 1 is finished. Spurs took care of the nuggets with a very suprising move. high risk high reward. My team didn?t play great but survived  thanks to LB shooting 60% from 3
Pistons really played great. brice was unstoppable at times but i could control blackman and with LB and Mark i had a small advantage at the wing position. A very small advantage. Have to take a deep look into my next matchup to avoid such a nail biter. Title: Re: rd 1 done Post by: SpursGM-old on November 21, 2007, 12:34:14 PM WOW!!!!
Lost game 4 at home to drop into a 1-3 hole. Won game 5 in OT and game 7 in OT on the road. Risky move alluded to by Pacers...I set my key player options to CPU control. Woodson exploded against Magic's defense for 26, 31, 26 in the last 3 games shooting 46.4% from the floor. Fat also finished strong out playing Evans in the final 2 games. He finished with 25 pts, 7 assts and 8 reb in game 6 and with 26 pts, 18 dimes, 5 reb, 4 steals in the decisive game 7. On to the Jazz... Title: Re: rd 1 done Post by: CelticsGM on November 21, 2007, 12:54:58 PM I have no idea how Bods could put Semionova, the weakest defender on his roster, on LeBron, who shot around 25% all seasons against every defender this side of B-. It's like he decided to give up on the series after game 3.
;-) Of course the Pacers prevailed with winning three of the last four by a total of 10 points (two 1pt games, including game 7) with BronBron shooting better than 50% in any of them. (before you ask: no, LeBron didn't shoot 50% in any of the first 3 games against Barkley) Here's my list of people starting at SF which would have allowed the Pistons to win in 5: 1. Barkley 2. Gerstl 3. Wheat 4. heck, probably even Barner, who would have kept him from the boards. Title: Re: rd 1 done Post by: CelticsGM on November 21, 2007, 12:56:58 PM We beat the Hawks 4-2 ... and if the Celtics continue to play like this we won't stay within double digits after the first quarter against the Hornets. Pretty ugly series offensively, but at least the D was o.k.
Title: Re: rd 1 done Post by: NetsGM on November 21, 2007, 01:05:37 PM Ouch. Lost both games 5 and 7 by 1 point each. Hard way to lose to the #1 team in the east.
as Celtics alluded to, I made some lineup changes that almost paid off. LeBron was giving barkley fits defensively. I also wanted Manute on Bol. So I moved Barkley to C, and he had a very good sim (20.3 ppg and 11 rpg in last 4). I also made Brice my top option, and he had a field day against Butler. In retrospect, it probably would have been better to put Gerstl on LeBron. I didn't expect LeBron to become a factor offensively, and it burned me. I thought Semjonova's inside game could give LeBron some trouble defensively, and at times it did (16 pts in game 4, 17 in game 6), but he was too inconsistent for it to be of any real value (8 pts in game 5, 9 in game 7). Title: Re: rd 1 done Post by: CelticsGM on November 21, 2007, 01:12:37 PM hey I know why you did it, and I did the same with Purvis and Lenard earlier. But I monitored LBJ all season and he's gotten to a point where he only starts cause Aguirre is even worse starting (but a great backup) ... unless he plays a horrible defender like Purvis ... or Semionova
Title: Re: rd 1 done Post by: GrizzliesGM on November 21, 2007, 01:29:00 PM Well I could just not stop Tobey. in retrospect, I should have moved Maggette to center but I thought that switching back to the same lineup that won me 20 straight games was more sensible. Congrats to the Mavs.
Title: Re: rd 1 done Post by: BucksGM on November 21, 2007, 02:13:03 PM I was able to correctly guess and switch Mehta onto Schmaltz, and I tried to slow down Milner by switching Harris to PG since he was my best defender, but those moves only had slightly better results than part 1 of the 1st round. I didn't have the defensive capabilities to stop all 3 of Milner/Schmaltz/Hubbard no matter what I did.
Title: Re: rd 1 done Post by: HornetsGM on November 21, 2007, 02:57:43 PM Would like to see a bit more consistency, but a win is a win.
Hopefully I can take out the Celtics' legs with early wins before Tyler gets back. Title: Re: rd 1 done Post by: MavsGM on November 21, 2007, 04:00:05 PM Bailey Tobey played great for us and we needed his scoring since Keogan was out. On to play to #1 seed Warriors, always give us matchup problems.

I didn't have the defensive capabilities to stop all 3 of Milner/Schmaltz/Hubbard no matter what I did. Good series, Bucks. Game 4 in particular was a see-saw nail-biter.Milner was the difference maker - very efficient game in and out, and has been a man possessed the past month and a bit. The decision to move Harris on him made alot of sense - but you make a good point - more attention on Richard freed up Hubbard to be a bit more effective, and Harris had played him real tough the first few of games. Funny thing is, going back to the off-season, I acquired Hubbard for guys just like Natt, though at the time he was a Hornet - and am just glad it worked out. Overall, I was happy with how Wooten/Schmalz v. Mehta played out. Rex forced alot of shots and TO's by way of blocks, but both my bigs (well, Koncak too for a bit) played him tough and gave him a workout in their own ways. I can just picture Mehta and Schmalz going at it, they both stuffed the stat sheets - musta been pretty intense. On to the Pacers - who are another tough matchup. Howard and Schulz have killed the Nets in the playoffs during my tenure, so I'm not looking forward to it. I would have liked to have Woot on Dwight, if only to body and hack the hell out of him for 6 fouls a game, so I'll have to give someone else some burn to give it a shot. In our last couple of matchups - which we split, Woot did a good job on Dwight, but Milner had some bad games. Should be interesting to say the least - and I think the Indy homecourt advantage will be huge. Title: Re: rd 1 done Post by: GoldenStateGM on November 21, 2007, 10:33:44 PM Looking forward to a great matchup with Mavericks...
This should be a great series. Be very interesting to see how Tobey matches up with my bigs... This might go the distance... |
