Title: sim 5 done
Post by: PacersGM on November 02, 2007, 03:35:13 AM
well another nice sim. was really surprised that hornets kept the game so close on my homecourt without sampson. not a good sign. lost to nuggets this time  :)
east is pretty deep. nets are finally in the POs even without milner.

6-1 sim on ugly shooting, didn't even top 40% three times.
Purvis NOT on the Celtics yet did alter my game plans a tad, but oh well ...

ANTONIO LENARD finally played his last game for the Celtics, and his 16/4/4 and 4 steals in a PLAYER OF THE GAME effort did secure a win over arch rival Nets. Perfect ending to a great career ...
 :hail:

Lost to the Pistons in a game where we allowed every opponent starter plus the 6th man to shoot better than 50%. Wouldn't get many W's that way (In all fairness, my guys did show some spirit outhusteling Detroit two days later in an otherwise horrible game)

Also took a 3-1 season series from the flimsy Nets in a contest we shot 39%, but turned the ball over just 4 times. And that game also marked the end of the slow pace in Beantown.
(btw, the swamplanders now 8.5 back, the slopes are getting steeper and steeper ...)

hey, YOU asked for the rivalry, not me ...

Observations from around the league:
The top 4 in the East all with 1 loss this sim, so no big changes in the standings, just Heat with 2 taking a step back ...

Has there ever been a team more dependend on a starting PG like the Mavs? They are 17-5 with Frank Johnson directing the team and 4-8 with Dampier, who ironically got nearly the same ratings, shoots better, and has very close per minutes numbers ...

Did the Bucks really got better with Natt ? Early impression: doesn't look that way ...

wow, what a game of complete futility:
http://rosters.ssbabasketball.com/boxes/47-11.html
nobody even scores 15pts, the teams combine for 30% from the field and 50% from the line.
plain ugly ...

Well, the end is near, which is good. 4-3 sim brings us to .500 and a tie for 8th going into sim 6 - almost like its day 1 for the Nets. The encouraging thing is that each loss is closer than they were earlier in the year: 1pt on the road to the Spurs; 7pts on the road to the Suns; 4pts on the road to the Celts (had some major foul issues in that game - only reason we lost). So I think things are pointed in the right direction.

I knew they were good, but I honestly hadn't noticed just how strong the top 5 records are in the East

Marcus Kersey had a nice sim, better PG numbers. Mark Wooten continues to be a yo-yo: brutal with a capital B some games, all-world the next. He got creamed in his matchup against Mr. Wedge of the Celts, fouling out in about 45 seconds. Both will have less pressure in the near future, so that should help. Now that I think about it, I don't believe I played Milner and Hubbard at the same time in the PS, so this should be good to watch.

that Raptors/Magic box score is the sorriest thing I've ever seen.  The two teams combined for 27 assists, and Gragg had a 22 assist game by himself in the first week of the sim.

As for my team, 5-1 is nice.  Jordan beat me with a triple double.  Natt's added depth.  Had at least one game with 7 in double figures.

6-1 sim for the Hornets, post-Natt and without Ralph Sampson. Not bad at all. My only loss was @ Pacers, where we lost by 6.

Wilkins and Stockton definitely don't like the fast pace, so I'll slow it down a bit next sim.

Well, 6-2 sim for the Warriors, now 7 games up up the Pacific Division, and and a 1/2 game behind the Spurs for the Western Conference lead.

Barton at the tender age of 33, is probably having his best year as a point guard.  7 assists per game, with only 1.5 topg, and he is still scoring at a pretty efficient clip.

Don Collins is playing very well, finally taking on the role as the go to guy on the team.

4-5 sim but loss my starting center and #2 option for 6 games.  After a fast start against admittedly some of the weaker teams this team just can't seem to find its groove.  Split a couple games with the Warriors with each winning at home.  But very up & down since the opening couple weeks.  Will take a more serioyus look at my rotations for the second half of the season.

Why is Willis sucking so hard this year?

A very nice 6-2 sim with losses to Barton and the Warriors, and the new-look Bucks.

Tried a new lineup this time, starting Zollner at C, Borgmann at PF and bringing in Kareem off the bench for instant offence. Also brought X back to the starting 5 as we need his production.

I think I am just going to accept the fact that turnovers are a big part of this team and deal with it. If we can continue winning games despite turning the ball over a lot, that says a lot about the overall talent of our squad.

Magic is having a very, very fine year for us, and capped off a great sim with a triple double vs the Rockets (32-14-13). He definitely is better off at SG.

Sim Stats:

C - Zollner
32.3min, 11.5pts, 9.3reb, 1.0ast, 1.5stl, 1.9blk, 34.1%fg

PF - Borgmann
29.6min, 10.0pts, 8.5reb, 1.0ast, 0.8stl, 1.8blk, 40.8%fg

SF - McDaniel
36.0min, 12.4pts, 8.3reb, 1.5ast, 1.0stl, 3.4to, 41.0%fg, 46.2%3pt

SG - Magic
37.6min, 25.9pts, 8.3reb, 5.5ast, 3.0stl, 3.4to, 47.1%fg, 40.9%3pt

PG - Evans
39.3min, 15.3pts, 4.5reb, 10.0ast, 1.5stl, 4.1to, 46.9%fg, 57.9%3pt

sub - Kareem
25.9min, 12.1pts, 7.4reb, 1.0ast, 0.3stl, 1.5blk, 56%fg

5 players averaging over 7 rebounds per game that sim, WOW!

Barton's year in 2018 was 24/3/10 with 53% shooting and 2.5 turnovers per game, pretty much better across the board than this year.  I think he was the best point guard in SSBA til Milner.

WOW!

I won 5 games this sim.

Oh, he was a better player, for many years then he is now...
But as a point guard, he is assisting other players (Don Collins), and keeping his turnovers the lowest they have ever been.
Since that is what I want out of a point guard, I think this year is better.

Just my opinion...

You wouldn't take 11.1 assists per game (to 2.2 turnovers), 47.8% shooting, 96.1% ft, 43.3% 3pt over 7.0 assists per game (to 1.5 turnovers), 46.7% shooting, 94.1% ft, and 39.8% 3pt?

I mean, sure, he has .7 less turnovers per game now.  but he also has 2.8 points less, 4.1 assists less, and is less efficient.

Not saying he's not having a tremendous season for a 35 year old, but let's not get overboard.  He was amazing back then.

I am talking as a point guard, not as an overall player.
Of course, if I could have Barton from his prime on my squad right now, I would take him in a second, and give up every draft pick and GM point for the next 3 years.

In fact, now that I have truly done the calculations, it is his 3rd best year in Assist to TO Ratio.

in 2013 and 2017, he had an above 5:1 ratio...  This year he has a 4.6:1.

Team is 15-6 with him starting this year...  The true measure of a player :)

Sweet. Were at #8 for the 1st time and hopefully those trades now will improve our record.
