Title: Poll: Should we assign teams with HOF members Post by: NetsGM on November 01, 2007, 10:44:58 AM At this time no GM points or any awards for the team that he goes in as, this is simply to attach a team name to his HOF page. After somebody is inducted, we then run a poll on what team he should go in as (listing every team he played for as an option). The poll will be open for 3 days, and the team with the most votes is the team he will go in on (no % necessary, since he has to go in as one of the teams, and since each player will have a different number of options).
As usual, If 50% or more vote yes, the rule will be implemented. If 50% or more vote no, the idea will be dropped. If neither of these two conditions are met then there will be a discussion on how to improve the rule, and a revised proposal will be submitted incorporating the ideas from the discussion. The poll will be open for 2 days. Title: Re: Poll: Should we assign teams with HOF members Post by: RaptorsGM on November 01, 2007, 11:06:20 AM I believe this is a terrible idea that is going to create turmoil and leave a sour taste in alot of GM's mouths.
Every team that has ever had a HOF-calibar player believes that player excelled the most with them. I strongly vote no. Title: Re: Poll: Should we assign teams with HOF members Post by: NetsGM on November 01, 2007, 11:16:40 AM I think it would create debate, not turmoil. If Emeka was voted to go in as a Mav, I don't think I'd lose any sleep over it, and I certainly don't think I'd be upset at MavsGM. And sure, everyone who has one of these players are going think they should go in as their team, but it's going to take more than 1 vote to win.
Title: Re: Poll: Should we assign teams with HOF members Post by: WizardsGM on November 01, 2007, 11:30:55 AM I can see the poll, but not the results after I vote?
Title: Re: Poll: Should we assign teams with HOF members Post by: NetsGM on November 01, 2007, 11:31:49 AM results are only shown after you submit your vote.
Title: Re: Poll: Should we assign teams with HOF members Post by: HawksGM on November 01, 2007, 11:49:35 AM he means after we vote, i voted and nothing came up also it just highlighted which one I voted for
Title: Re: Poll: Should we assign teams with HOF members Post by: NetsGM on November 01, 2007, 12:03:15 PM whoops. it should show now.
Title: Re: Poll: Should we assign teams with HOF members Post by: CelticsGM on November 01, 2007, 12:04:38 PM no. Most HOF'ers did playon multiple teams throughout their career, which you can see in their statistics. Just an information on which teams titles were won would be awesome ...
Title: Re: Poll: Should we assign teams with HOF members Post by: PacersGM on November 01, 2007, 01:29:13 PM i would also say no. marion had so much success with several teams for example that it is impossible to link him with one team. the same for duncan, hoffa even yao.
Title: Re: Poll: Should we assign teams with HOF members Post by: SpursGM-old on November 01, 2007, 01:46:28 PM If this rule passes will there be a "who gives a shit" option when voting for teams?
Title: Re: Poll: Should we assign teams with HOF members Post by: RaptorsGM on November 01, 2007, 01:48:34 PM who is going to be responsible for making the case for each team? if the case is to be made by that GM, many GMs have been replaced and also that could turn into a whoever-can-write-the-best-gets-the-player contest.
I really hope this doesnt pass. Title: Re: Poll: Should we assign teams with HOF members Post by: BucksGM on November 01, 2007, 02:41:30 PM wow, talk about taking the team thing way too seriously.
I see no problem with voting on it. make your case if it's important to you. if it's not, don't and just vote. Title: Re: Poll: Should we assign teams with HOF members Post by: HornetsGM on November 01, 2007, 02:48:59 PM I like it.
Title: Re: Poll: Should we assign teams with HOF members Post by: NetsGM on November 01, 2007, 03:26:50 PM Quote who is going to be responsible for making the case for each team? Um...nobody? I think we're all intelligent enough to look at a player page, reflect on what happened during that time, and make our own judgements. Like bucksgm, I think people are taking this WAY too seriously. it's not like we're erasing the stats from other teams he played for. We're just adding one more field to the HOF page as a little special for those who had him. Title: Re: Poll: Should we assign teams with HOF members Post by: SpursGM-old on November 01, 2007, 05:01:33 PM Quote Like bucksgm, I think people are taking this WAY too seriously. This is directed towards those that oppose the rule. But it can be just as well aimed at those who support it. If team names are so important why not list all of them that a player played for? Title: Re: Poll: Should we assign teams with HOF members Post by: HornetsGM on November 01, 2007, 05:06:35 PM If team names are so important why not list all of them that a player played for? what fun is that? :) Title: Re: Poll: Should we assign teams with HOF members Post by: NetsGM on November 01, 2007, 05:23:05 PM Quote Like bucksgm, I think people are taking this WAY too seriously. They're not so important. They're just a way to add a little more fun and spice to the league. We already have a listing of all the teams they played for. On the player page. Title: Re: Poll: Should we assign teams with HOF members Post by: BlazersGM on November 01, 2007, 06:07:06 PM I agree with Raps.
Title: Re: Poll: Should we assign teams with HOF members Post by: BlazersGM on November 01, 2007, 06:11:42 PM Where would Yao then go ? As a Raptor cause he posted best numbers in 5 seasons with them ?
Or Hornets with whom he won his 1st title. Or Blazers were he hang up his boots with his 2nd title. If YES is the answer, then he should go into HOF as a Hornet, Blazer and Raps IMO. And thats impossible. Title: Re: Poll: Should we assign teams with HOF members Post by: NetsGM on November 01, 2007, 06:15:38 PM Quote Where would Yao then go ? As a Raptor cause he posted best numbers in 5 seasons with them ? Wherever the league decides he goes. I disagree very much that there should be some award (someone previously suggested SSBA dollars). That would place far too much on something like this. But I don't get why having them go in as no team is better than having them go in as one team, when there's nothing intrinsically gained Title: Re: Poll: Should we assign teams with HOF members Post by: WizardsGM on November 01, 2007, 08:08:38 PM Quote Like bucksgm, I think people are taking this WAY too seriously. Because it would mimic reality in that a player goes in with a certain team. Not entirely sure about NBA HOF however, but they do in the other sports. I love listening and participating in them - I'd love to hear why Pistons thinks Emeka should go into the Hall as a Net and equally why Mavs thinks so. Players have their identities yes, but they are often tied to the teams with which they played and mainly where they had the most success. Just adds abit to the fun.
I love the idea. Title: Re: Poll: Should we assign teams with HOF members Post by: HornetsGM on November 01, 2007, 08:21:43 PM Where would Yao then go ? with the Hornets, obviously :) |
