No real surprises there.

I'm stunned Malone droped to #3.

I had Sabonis, Malone, Ewing

I'm guessing Mullin has less than A true potential.

nice pick by the committee.. sabonis and mullin are franchise players...

Title: Re: Draft 1-5 up

All I can say is that the guy with the highest potential went first.

All I can say is that the guy with the highest potential went first.
All I can say is the guy who has the biggest head went second.

All I can say is the guy who has the biggest biceps went third.

And I choose biceps over head. Einstein wouldn't win MVP in the NBA.

All I can say is I wish I could have gotten in the top 5.

Potential is a very funny thing. Dr.J, George Johnson and I have a lot of jokes about it.

I also wish that I have enough money to scout Benoit's true potential. He could been a difference maker in my draft decision.

Doesn't look like Kings scouted anyone: http://forums.ssbabasketball.com/ssba_pages/banklog.php?gm=KingsGM

I had..

Ewing
Sabonis
Malone

Xavier Mcdaniel, Charles Oakley and Benoit Benjamin are guys i was considering acquiring with the 3rd overall pick. But then something happened..

I've totally lost faith in the draft and the whole concept of "true potential". I don't expect anything anymore.

Oh. Well you're kind of setting yourself up for disappointment again by not checking. You could have checked 3 potentials with the money you have.

Nah...i knew the only 3 guys (Ewing, Sabonis and Malone) i'm interested in, won't be available at 4. Xavier or Mullin are looking ok but another wing player who plays little to no defense is the last thing i need. I need some quaility size badly so i can only hope Benoit won't turn into trash like my others 276 lotto picks so far.

Rockets Draft PF Charles Oakley with pick #6 of round 1.
Nuggets Draft SF Xavier Mcdaniel with pick #7 of round 1.
Clippers Draft SF A.C. Green with pick #8 of round 1.
Pacers Draft SG Joe Dumars with pick #9 of round 1.
Nuggets Draft C Joe Kleine with pick #10 of round 1.

i hope dumars ball handling skills are good enough to play some backup PG as well because he won´t see much PT in the next 2 years at SG.

I feel alot better about that trade now that Oak went 6.

Hopefully Oakley can provide some desperately needed rebounding.

I have some good depth in my frontcourt now with Mahorn/Thorpe/Oakley. Something I have not had for many a year.

Now the quest for a desperately neded PG begins...

Dumars was my first option at 10 and would have loved to get him; I have a feeling his defence would improve at PG due to his size (or lack thereof for a SG).

Happy to get Kleine though, option #2. He is 18 so I hope that he has good potential (didnt check it).

For the record, I checked Xavier's potential and it isnt shabby. I hope he develops into a solid #1 or 2 scoring option in his prime.

there are exactly 8 players, IMO that could have gone top 5 in the past retro drafts. not bad... too bad, benoit don't really fit in this years top 5.

I still like a lof of prospects left in this draft too, too bad so does everyone else

its a pretty deep draft.. but the level is pretty much the same after the top 8.. IMO

longterm projects, role players, that's what's left.

as every year there's a very small chance to find anything that will be a sure starter in 3 seasons after pick #10.

Tell me about it.

Let us wait for some time to see how really good this class is. Ratings really means nothing (re:Magic, DrJ, Isiah etc etc).

I agree, I only see 2-3 players left who are should get significant minutes this season, but I am looking for a long term project/role player for my squad.

great. I have quite a few long term projects/role players on my team.
now get me a player who can contribute NOW for them ...

Just my opinion, but I would love to see each days picks have their own thread.  It's hard to have to guess what page of the thread the picks are listed on.

You could say that about any draft class.

I see a probable All-Defensive Team player left on the board after 10 picks. I'd say there are about 13 players who look really good in this draft. After that, I'll agree, the dropoff is sharp.

Damn, this draft really sucks IMO, ive spent all my money on few potentials, and others like TP and Superman i didnt waste on. They all suck except 1. I really hate this draft class, its so weak, probably the weakest class ever IMHO.But if i get that guy then its fine, the rest are just good, no steals or anything after first 20 picks IMO. Damn.

Which of course does nothing to help the streamlining of discussion about those picks...
