Title: Sim 2 is up
Post by: PacersGM on August 29, 2007, 09:10:21 AM
In the East Nets, Pistons, Hornets and Pacers look strong, Celtics are still a mess.
In the West Spurs and Warriors are leading with nuggets surprising strong.

Yeah, play more games.

Your team has only played 8 games so far, which is by far the lowest in the league.  One team has played 20 games already.  When it evens out, your guys will be on the league leaders page.

Complete and utter, unlogical horseshit.

Went 1-6.   :? and I'm losing on average by 10.3 ppg.

On day 14 I only scored 65 point on 26% shooting.

Max Marshall is totally underwhelming, especially as my second option.  Reckons Biedrins could be moved into that spot for next sim.

4-2 is fine, losing to two good teams on their turf. Another small injury to my backup pg - might be one of those seasons.
I don't know how he does it, but Lavar always plays way above his ratings.
Starting a 12 game in 12 night stretch - should be a good test.

Wow, certainly wasnt expecting to be sitting at 8-6 through the first 2 sims after both preseasons saw me go 6-8. I honestly believe that this is the worst rated team on paper I have ever fielded in FBB, so I dont expect this to continue.

I also dont expect this to continue: Giving up 92.2oppg, tied for tops in the league.

Poor Edward Borgmann - dude was absolutely cruising along this sim, with four straight 18+/10+ games until he saw the Warriors where he put up a combined 8/13 in 2 games vs them. He avg 16/10/1/0.5/2.5 for the sim on 34.4% shooting (but if you take away the 2 Warriors games he shot 45%).

Buck continues to carry the load, averaging 22/14.5/2/2.2/2.2 for the sim, but also averaged 2.8 turnovers which is just something I am going to live with with this team. He is still averaging 15 rebounds per game, 2nd in the league.

Sidney Green continues to not show up after a solid rookie season. I might have to bring him off the bench again. I love his 8.7reb at the SF spot, but 10ppg is not going to cut it as a starter, well unless your name is...

Tracy Vaught - my only non-turnover machine (avg 0.2 on the sim). He averaged 8.7/4.3/2.3 with 2.2 steals and 0.5 blocks.

Bailey Snow had issues this sim, having back to back games with 8 turnovers and avg 4.3 on the sim to go along with his 10/4.5/8.5 on 52.1% FG shooting, and 50% from 3.

I love Jeff Robertson. Non option coming off the bench, averaging 17.5/7.5 with 1 steal on 47%. Might start him and play a big lineup to see if Green is better off the bench.

4-2, a much better sim for the Hawks.  Mike Evans is playing great, probably second best PG to Milner, who has always been insane.  The supporting cast had a good sim, with the team having 5 players averaging double digits.  The addition of Timmy Adams should be interesting for me.  Chris Cho also impressing in very limited time, only about 8 minutes, averaging 5.5 pts.  I think that's where I like him, only playing a bit and giving some nice scoring pop.  Overall I am much happier but time shall tell if we can survive the Central Division.

It's not that difficult if you put in the effort.  But, just like building your team, you think it should just happen for you.

Dude he was a top 10 pick, you can't possibly expect anything else.

Hornets had a nice 5-1 sim (with the one loss being by 1 point to the Sonics), but against admittedly sub-par opponents. Natt struggled again, even with a move back to SG, despite a stellar preseason at that position. I'll try another sim with the current settings as my other players had pretty good sims (though Wilkins had a poor shooting sim.) I'm looking forward to adding Macy to this mix, possibly as a starter, since he is performing so well for the Blazers.

7-0 sim!   :bounce:  First time ever for Spurs to have an undefeated sim I think.

Haven't analyzed the sim closely yet but a few observations based on team page and team statistics.  Margin of victory increased in the second sim...mostly I think from an increase in rebounding and tighter defense.  On the flip side the majority of my wins have been at home against lottery teams.  Only real downer is that I lost my backup point guard for the rest of the regular season.

Another 5-5, 10-10 overall.  I'll take consolation in the fact that it looks like the East is going to have a bunch of teams around 500 battling for the 8 spot, and I've played 13 road games to 7 home games.

Also Mehta was the player of the month, probably because we played all 20 days.  Not that 22/16/4/4 is bad  :hail:

Dude he was a top 10 pick, you can't possibly expect anything else.

6 of the 10 leading scorers have 55 or less years of experience.  One of the remaining 4 is 28.  For the "too lazy to look it up", that means the top 10 is comprised of a 20 year old, 26 year old, 23 year old, 25 year old, 26 year old, 26 year old, and a 28 year old.  7 of the 10 players in the top 10 have come from retro-drafts.

boo friggin hoo.

But yeah, I'm sure there is nobody in the NBA who was a 9th pick and averaged 9.5 ppg in 11 games.

Seriously.  If you hate this league so much, and hate this game so much, why are you still here?

Seriously.  If you hate this league so much, and hate this game so much,

I hate what this league has become. I hate the fact that BOTH of my top picks were only good at turning over the ball (oh, i know, i didn't know how to build around Magic, i guess Raptors don't know how to "utilize" his skills as well since he's leading them to the impressive 2-8 record so far). I hate the fact that the Pacers are absolutely dominating the league with utter disgrace of a frontcourt only cause of a guy who's 34 years old, which means, Lebron James impact at 34 >> all of my young talent combined. I hate the fact that i was playin .55 ball last season with absolutely SAME team and now i can't win a fucking game and so on.

Quote
why are you still here?

People, only cause of the people. It's a great crew. Everything else is just a one gigantic, unlogical crap.

Man, you have to love that guy. Akeem leds the league in PPG.

Sim 1 was no coincidence it seems.

We went 4-3, again lost 2x games against one team, this time it was Clippers.

Akeem is just incredible:

@Suns 23/17 2 blks.

vs Heat 32/9 3 stls.

vs Clippers 31/12.

vs Clippers 41/12 2 stls and blks.

@Bulls 31/9 5blks.

@Knicks 20 and just 3 rebs LOL.

Thats just incredible how that guy is balanced and great. I smell new Yao here or something even
better.

I'm happy that I'm playing well right now, but I don't really expect it to last.  7 of my first 10 games were at home, and 7 of my 8 wins were at home.  Of my 8 wins, only 3 came against teams that would make the playoffs if the season ended today.  But I'll take what I can get after the last 2 years.

Wu's been about what I could have hoped for from a first year C that was a late lottery pick.  1.1 spg and 1.1 bpg, with solid rebounding (7.3) are nice #'s in only 27.7 minutes.  The reason he's "only" getting 27 minutes is because his backup, Granville Aranda, has been blocking shots at a crazy rate (2.6 per 25 minutes).  I value shotblocking quite a bit, so the two of them will probably continue to split time.

Barkley makes up for the lower rebounding #'s for my C, grabbing 12 rebounds/game (10th in the league) in only 30 minutes.  He also provides solid offense (18.6 ppg) at an efficient rate (45%, 74.6% from the line).  His offense is probably suffering a bit with my outside focus, but with Robinson, Blackman and Brice, I have to play to their strengths.  If I change my focus to inside, Barkley might gain, but my other big men would have to shoulder more of the offensive load, and Wu/Aranda can't do that.  So I'm going to keep my Outside focus.

The trio of Robinson, Blackman and Brice are as good as any in the league.  With their defense (A-, A, A), they're the reason I'm effective defensively.  And their offense is great.  Robinson has fit this team tremendously (19.2 ppg, 8 rpg, 5.5 apg, 2.3 spg, 49.7% from the field, 46.3% from 3).  That stat stuffing and efficiency is perfect for a #3 option, and one of the reasons I targeted him.  At only 28, he'll be great next to Barkley and Blackman for quite a few years.

Brice was a great fit.  I love the A defense at PG, and him causing more turnovers (2.4 steals) than he gives up (1.7 turnovers) is a thing of beauty.  Along with nice scoring (16.7 ppg), assists (8.9 apg, 5.2 assist/turnover ratio).  Highly efficient as well (46.7%, 55.8% from the field).  A quintessential PG for the kind of team I build.  Maybe not going to end up as one of the top 3 PG's in the league this year, but I do think he's one of the better fits for my team.  Again, with him being a 3rd/4th option (depending on which one you put Robinson at), defense, not turning the ball over, and scoring efficiently are as important to me as ppg and apg.

I think I have a nice base to build around.  I think I have a very good #1 option (Blackman), a very good #2 option (Barkley), and think my #3 and #4 options fit perfectly (well-rounded games, good defense, efficient offensively).  I think having outside shooters play well off of Barkley, and I think having the perimeter defenders I have, and a shotblocker, is good as well.  I do a very good job of limiting turnovers (13 per game, 3rd in the league), even though I generate a high amount of assists (26.9, 3rd in the league).  I don't think I'm ready to compete yet, mainly because I need Wu to progress, and I need some depth (bad.  Blackman, Robinson and Brice are all in the top 10 in minutes played).  I'm an injury away from mediocrity, but I think I have a base so the next 2-3 years I can contend (and really longer, as the only starter I have above the age of 28 is Brice, but I'd have to replace him).

I think I turned this team around well.  But now I get to the hard part, which is taking the next step.
