I'm right there with you. Mostly because I'm in four leagues (one which has a DLeague, so five) and ALL of them are in the off-season  :bash:

Barkley's a B defender now at PF.  Nice.

The sim was good, but I'm not going to get too excited.  This is the preseason, and you have guys like the Nets sitting MVP candidates to see what youngsters can do.

Barkley only played 27 minutes (foul trouble?), but grabbed 11 boards in that time.  Put up a respectable 17 points on 49% shooting as well.

Blackman had his typical all-around game (24.4, 5.2, 4.2, 1.5 steals).  Robinson looked great as well (19.6, 5.3, 4.9, 2.1).  And Brice's 14.1, 9.7, 4.1 and 3.1 are a great non-option.  Those 3 can really, really stuff a stat sheet, and get out on the break.

Wu was solid (9.2 rpg, 2 bpg), but has no offense.  That's fine, I guess, with 4 other great options there on offense.

Depth is just going to be a major, major problem.

4-13 without any starters playing.

Some very interesting things, Colliton is pretty impressive, Coles and Guyton completely useless. Lets see what
1st team can do now.

Sitting MVP candidates and going 11-4? 8-0 at home, 3-4 on the road. Pretty happy with that - after that TC, it's nice, though not overly meaningful. FBB is interesting - sometimes what looks like a step back can actually open your eyes. The next set of days should be good too, with a bunch of away games and good competition. A few other guys to test out to see what they can do in different roles.

Lotsa mixed feelings, though.

The Good: Shame I never checked Bennetts D at C before signing Schmalz - he's great there for such a wee guy - even game Sampson some troubles - though not across the board. I knew I loved him for a reason. Gminski is perfectly solid at two positions. Gary Macauley was very solid in a starting role, despite pedestrian ratings. Griffin Gola's performance eases some of my anxiety about a potential injury to Milner. He was pretty good too. Celts muddled around at a shade under .500 which is nice too- having his pick and trying to get an ill-timed rivalry going with him keeps me watching. In our conbvincing win against the Celts, he had 4 guys foul out - lol - don't know if I've ever seen that. Brooks gains on D are legit.

The Bad: My annual D check confirmed some of my pains from TC. Dudley lost a grade of D at SG; Macauley lost one across the board; Bennett lost one at his two backup positions; Zollner lost one on D. No hidden good news on the other guys either. Tarlac isn't seeming like much of a combo guard.

My team is brutal, and key guys have lots of turnovers.

BUT, 16th overall pick Edward Borgmann avg 19.4/8.6

Went 6-6 with Kite starting at Centre and Thorpe off the bench.

Kite was solid with 7 an 7 and Thorpe was excellent off the bench.

Now to see if Mahorn can play at Centre with Thorpe starting at the PF position...

Phelps was solid and had more assists than turnovers, lol

Looks like there were good picks throughout this draft. Borgmann was very good, Vern Fleming was , Kevin Willis looks superb, and of course the guys at the top look worth their draft slots - except Jordan who is obviously a turnover machine, and Bowie who is looking very average  :P.
Kudos to Blazers...who somehow resisted the temptation to play Hakeem during the first pre-season.

Some ups and downs this sim. I played the same guys and used the same strategies that I thought I'd use in the regular season. I defintely have some stellar players, but whether they are the right mix of players is the question.

Anyway, team-wise, we had a +8 ppg differential, which is good, and we're crushing people on the boards, with almost a +9 differential. Our outside D is atrocious, allowing 47% 3-point shooting. Terrible.

Individually, Natt, Hinson and Sampson (who was a non-option) all looked great as starters. Nique struggled with his shooting, so I'll move him down the line of options. Even so, 25 ppg on this team as a 2nd option (with two other bigtime scorers) is something. Stockton had great assist numbers, but turned it over way too much (3.8 topg). But he also had a ton of steals, which makes up for it somewhat.

You do realize that people are playing their backups right?

Vince Springer looks very promising. He averaged 7.5 RPG and 1.8 BPG in only 22 MPG. Demler played like crap but it was only as a backup so I shouldn't be too worried.

Another bucketfull of sickness and mediocricy in otherwise meanigless season.

Hm...
I might regret passing on Edward Borgmann.

2 of my younger guys Laimbeer and Darrell Walker both played good against the backups, Walker's to's are better which could lead to more PT for him this season.  Reggie Johnson looks like he could be a solid player inside, not gonna be anything special but around 10/8/1.5

10-5, pretty good performances. And we still get the pleasure of these kinds of comments?

Meh, make that a 8-7 in the real season.

As long as you ignore the FG%  :D

I have a feeling that the two coinflips that I lost that would have gotten me Stockton and Flemming are going to have me wondering "what if?" for a long time.

At least you just got unlucky.  I PASSED on Vern Flemming (21.4 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 2.9 apg, 1.6 spg) and Edward Borgmann (19.4 ppg, 8.6 rpg, 2.4 bpg) to take Jerome Kersey (4.8 ppg, 3.8 rpg) and Terrell Wu (6.7 ppg, 9.2 rpg, 2.0 bpg)

:(

But again, Barkley == luck

(and I'm not even sure THAT was the right pick, with Stockton coming in and averaging a double-double right from the get-go)

Plus, Rolando Blackman improved CONSIDERABLY after I traded him away to you for peanuts.  So, you must take the good with the bad, right?

Well, I'm not complaining about Blackman, am I?  ;)

It's just human nature to always look at what could have been, or I guess what should have been if you don't make mistakes.  You only look at what you did wrong, not what went in your favor.  I tend to be more pissed about things that I missed (i.e. missing on these guys in the draft) than I do about things that I get unlucky (i.e. losing a coin toss).

12-4...looks impressive until you realize that I really don't have young guys who I need to look at.  I returned my top 7 from last year and added Bowie to be my backup PF/C.  And I have one A, 3 A-, 2 B+ and a C (Mitchell) defender in that group...second in FG% defense and tops in 3 pt%.  Average shooting but strong offensive rebounding keep the offense going.  And did I mention that 21 year old Bowie is joining a core all age 24-28 so unless I am blown away with a trade offer this team is set for a couple seasons.  A little tweaking in the DC and cross my fingers hoping the success carries over to the reg season.

Preseason auditions are for who gets to wave towels and who ends up on the IR.  Roster spots 9-12 are very competitve which means one of my second rounders could actually see playing time.

How the hell Colliton drops 33 on Byron Scott.

And how the hell Lister drops 34/17 on 14-23 on Phil Hubbard.

Makes no sense at all.
