Wow, HUGE trade...

Hopefully the Wiz can resign Amare

this trade rests on whether Amare resigns, from Phoenix's point of view...it's hard to structure a team around a player who may not even be there after this season.

if amare resigns... than the wiz has the edge...if not....you just gave away one of your best players for nothing.....

Wiz obviously got the best player in the deal, but....

If he doesn't re-sign then they just gave away their future.

I can definitely see the reasoning both teams do this.

All I can say is the Wiz better be better this year. Amare's 83 greed factor and 80 play for winner factor are going to make him want to play for the max, for a Championship calibar team.

But that was Phoenix's reason right there....  With Kobe, Nash, and Amare, they did not make the playoffs.  And without any major improvements this year, they were probably going to lose him in the offseason.
I liek it for both teams.  Amare is needed to go up against the frontcourts of the East (how strange it is to say that)  :D

I wouldn't say that.

they started off terribly, worst record in the league near the all-star break I believe.  Then they acquired Kobe and they began to click.  IMO they would have made the playoffs this year.

Post by: RaptorsGM on March 25, 2005, 09:21:48 AM
Yeah, they had Hunter, Amare, Marion, Q ad Nash...and were one of the worst teams in the L.

Which doesn't exactly bode well for me, seeing as though I have 5 stars...

So Washington wins in the Amare sweepstakes. Just gotta hope to re-sign him in the off-season. And you know that it will be for big money. Suns get some good stuff in return. Odom is not far below Stoudemire. The three picks(counting Havlicek) should more than make up for it.

Title: Suns/Wizards - processed

Well, Amare is going to get the max. No question.

Title: Suns/Wizards - processed

And he deserves the max.  The only issue I see is if Amare doesn't give an offer.

My bad... I did not look at their schedule history...
Even if they made the playoffs, you wonder if it would have been enough.  And with a team like the Raptors with tons of offseason money, the threat of Amare leaving was real.
Odom and Kobe with Havlicek may make Phoenix one of the best passing teams in the league.

i thought that the 60 day rule dident apply in the off season? if thats the case and it does, then we can break it up into 2 trades, and it should work.

odom for wally match = works salary wise

and amare for havilcek and the 2 picks = works salary wise

Title: Suns/Wizards - processed

60 day rule does apply in the offseason, I'm almost positive.

Only time it doesn't apply is on player extensions.

Title: Suns/Wizards - processed
Post by: SunsGM on March 25, 2005, 10:56:39 AM
well if we break into 2 deals, it should still work odom is at 11 mil and wally  is 10 mil

and havlicek and amare should have similar salaries. and filler could be added accordingly

I think they can win, I just don't think they will be able to win enough games to make Amare want to stay.

They can't play with teams like the Nets, Raptors, Heat and other elite teams in the East, IMO.

Hah, I wouldn't put me up there yet.  I'm still only 4 players.  Give me a legit starting sf and 3 or so good bench players and I think so.  Right now my goal's 45 wins and a top 4 seed.

And I'm not sure how much he'll need to win.  Last year Randolph had a max play for winner, and he resigned with the Blazers just sliding into the playoffs.  If the Wiz make it to the playoffs 2 years in a row, I think he'll resign.

I'm gonna have 30 some million in cap space next year, I'm gonna make a bid for Amare in the offseason.  But yeah, if the Wiz make teh playoffs, which the should, then Amare will probably resign.

Well, I think you have a better team than the Wiz do.

Wiz have Gilbert as a PG, and he gives up the ball 5 times a game. Until they improve on him, they ain't winning, and I'm not sure if Amare will want to stay.

And I have my eye on another certain big man :)

If Shaq goes to FA, I'm going to trade Vince for nothing, just to make a pass at Shaq daddy.

Before the move he was averaging 6 turns per game. A tad too much, I think...

It is too much.

But if he averages 3-4 per game from the sg position, he's an attribute with his defensive and offensive contributions.

Amare/Curry
Dunleavy/Mo
Barry/ ?
Mercer/Speedy

I'm sad to have let go of Amare, and I really did not want him to leave,

but with thhe makeup of my team, and his impending free agent status,

i figured I might as well take the risk of moving him, and getting value.

Lamar Odom, is a verty versitle forward, and can play at the 3 or 4 spot,

and his 18 pts and 9 rebounds in 32 minutes were similar to Amare's 21 and 8 in 31 minutes.

The 3 first round picks were great for me, this draft is deep, and i have the opportunity to add 3 of the best 26 players in this draft.

i had some other deals, and they were solid, offers, but no one else stepped up with this type of deal, that allowed me to pretty much stay where i was, and add young players also.

i think that my core of Billups, Kobe, Rip Hamilton  :D edit:(who can make more of a contribution now, than the 10th player picked this yr):edit  :D Odom.Collier,Hunter and Havilcek is a good starting point, and i'll be able to build upon that and get better, i have 3 first round picks nrxt yr also now, and i can always add through my MLE and LLE.

Its a good deal for the Wizards too, they get a dominamt frontline player, who IF he resigns will be an anchor for their team for the next 8-10 seasons.

hopefully for the Wiz GM Amare takes a page from the Zachary Randoplh book, and resigns

Title: Suns/Wizards - processed
Post by: Anonymous on March 25, 2005, 03:20:45 PM
Yes, this trade was a huge risk for me. But I figured if I never make risks I'll forever be stuck in the status quo. I lose Odom, who was a very solid player for me and traded Havlicek and a few other picks. This trade leaves me w\o a pg, but I'l look to fill that need through a minor trade or through FA. I refuse to move Arenas back to pg because he is horribly TO prone. He started the season with an average of 6.7 topg and has since lowered that by 2 topg since I moved him to sg. Amare will become a legit #1 scoring option, something I felt Odom never was. This trade is contingent on me resigning Amare, if I can't, I lose this trade big time.

its a risk on my end only if Amare Blows up and goes for 30 and 14 a game. i know that Amare hasent reached his full potential yet, but Odom is a solid pf,who gave the Wiz 18 and 10 last yr, and i have Kobe, so odom dosent have to score as much. for the Wiz, hopefully he
(Amare) does return, I would feel terribly if he gave me 3 first round picks, and his best player, for nothing, but really its not my problem anymore

it think its a good deal for both teams, maybe a little risky for me, but an the up and up, a great deal for both parties

Title: Suns/Wizards - processed
Post by: RaptorsGM on March 25, 2005, 03:38:51 PM
Well, I don't think 2 of those firsts will be worth much. They both might have negative value.

However, Odom is going to be very hard to trade if he doesn't work with you. You're on the hook for 52 mil over 4 years.

Title: Suns/Wizards - processed
Post by: SunsGM on March 25, 2005, 03:49:23 PM
Well the firsts are debateable, there were lots of players available for firsts this past draft, and i'll have 3 picks next yr to add depth if the draft is deep, or if not so much, i'm sure they can be moved.

As far as Odom, yes, if he dosent play well he'll be tough to move, but odom has a history in this league, and the previous league as being a solid player, and i expect him to continue to do so.

even having Odom at minimal numbers is better than loosing Amare for nothing, and having no resources to replace him.

you could probally be productive, and add something to the conversations we have around here.

so hopefully you wont be leaving, just calm down ,and relax a little dont be so high strung, and hyper

You know what, nevermind.

I deleted the forum.

I'm not wasting a forum on pointless banter.  That just moves the important discussion (war room and depth charts) farther down the page.

KingsGM: If you want to talk trash, do so in the OT forum.  Otherwise, keep it on subject and actually discuss things happening in SSBA.

Good idea. Having a forum dedicated to trash talk ruins the integrity of SSBA.

SSBA has integrity? Since when?

SSBA has alot more intergrity than most leagues. Alot of ther leagues do those stupid point systems for writing articles and stuff, which I hate.

And Kings - no one wants  you to leave. we just want you to let your record speak for itself.
