I have to win 4 in a row now, not gonna happen, so we'll just throw something totally different at the Celts

Title: Re: PO discussion
Post by: CelticsGM on July 28, 2007, 04:41:10 PM
and boy, were there some surprises:

The Kings being up 3-0 !!! on the Mavs, who ruled the West for some seasons and are still #2 seed? Maybe Emeka IS getting old ...

The league leading Warriors losing to the steerless Clippers 2-1 ??? Are you kiddin' me, where's the dominance everyone expected ...

The Magic showing little resistance to the balanced Cavs. Take that, MVP ...

Only the Jazz and Nets playing hide and seek with their lowly opponents cams somehow expected !
:-)

yawn ... so no big surprises in the end.

Warriors and Mavs (sorry i missed they took game 3) regrouped and prevailed (albeit the Mavs losing the first two at home came out of nowhere), Jazz needed 7 and a strong 4th quarter to take the Grizz, and Sonics found the shooting touch at the right time.

Pacers, Celtics and Nets also took relatively easy wins, though Pacers and Nets were only tied 2-2 after four games. Magic provided the only "upset" (if you can call 5 beats 4 an upset at all) and might give the Pacers more of a scare than the Cavs.

Predictions:
Warriors - Jazz. Warriors in 7. (Could see the Jazz in 6 if Toney/Uner outscore Maxi/Barton and Hubby doesn't get a 20/20)
Mavs - Sonics. Sonics in 5. The Mavs old bones can't run with the Sonics high octane offense anymore. The Kings gave us a glimpse, Peters and company will finish that task.

Pacers - Magic. Pacers in 6. They'll find a way to stop Melo (LBJ?) and hold Dwight to respectable numbers, the rest of the team is no contest.
Celtics - Nets. Celtics in 7. Promises to be a great series with two teams at their peak. Can go either way, but homecourt gives the Celtics the edge (and of course the fact it's ME writing this ...)

:-)

Frank Johnson will be out 4 days (probably 3 games) against high scoring Sonics.  I expect this series to be high scoring.

ROFL @ Celtics on calling my team OLD.  My starting five's age 26, 36, 29, 31, 24 compare to his 31, 33, 22, 34 and 30. :screwy:

Title: Re: PO discussion

Bailey Tobey and Vince Keogan vs Quincy Peters and Kelvin Ransey....expect this one to be a great offensive series.

Title: Re: PO discussion
Post by: CelticsGM on July 28, 2007, 06:06:14 PM
never said MY team is young, but yeah, maybe Frank/Tobey are not that old ...

and Sonics, i think you have the superior offensive lineup, but you are meeting a team that can score AND defend, while your guys couldn't even spell "D". Still see you prevailing, but beware if the sleeping lion awakes and returns to last seasons dominance ...

After going up 2-1 following two very impressive wins by very large margins, the Cavs fell apart. It was looking good too, game 3 was a score of 122-94(highest scoring game with no one hitting 20?). Oh well, the Cavs will be back at it again next year...

nice series cavs. made some key adjustments. which gave me 3 straight wins.

just by reaching game 7 of round 2 would be a really wonderful accomplishment for my boys. The Pacers have really turned things around.

rd 2 is finished and extensions are send to you. You will have time to accept till the end of the POs.

in the west seed 1 and 2 are out but the east still no upsets.
my series against magic could have been one but i got luky with a 1pt win in game 5. the rest was homecourt advantage and a deeper bench und caleb doing a great job on both ends of the floor.
nets are next and pretty deep at every position. i had some success in the regular but most of this was without milner on their team...

Title: Re: PO discussion
Post by: SonicsGM on July 29, 2007, 03:39:53 PM
Wow...

Down 3-1, the Sonics make an impressive comeback against the Mavs.  Great series MavsGM....I really thought that I was done after the first three games.

Now onto the Jazz...which should be a very good series.

Title: Re: PO discussion
Post by: CelticsGM on July 29, 2007, 03:55:31 PM
bullshit.

Nets and Celtics both had a pair of blowout wins, only difference was that we lost two heartbreaking road games, by 3 in OT and by 1.

As I said before, this one could go either way and unfortunately it went the wrong way.

just another disappointing season end.

Congratz on the series win, I have to give credits to your team for winning the last three games especially the last game to advance to semi finals.

:-)

well, Uner and Toney played Barton & Maxi at least even (until Maxi went down in game 4), but it was Hubbards lousy series that cost the Warriors any chance. I somehow got it right.
even tho i predicted Sonics, it was still surprising after seeing the vintage Mavs early. but in the end, the true 2020 Mavs returned .. and lost.
Pacers are just too deep, but advanced not without a scare.
and lets not talk about the celtics anymore. good luck nets ...

argh ...

Title: Re: PO discussion

Of course, the irony was, my change in strategy for the 2nd part of the series was to make Max the 2nd option, and make Hubbard a non-option.  the stress was too much for Max, and he was injured  :D

Good series Jazz....  Good luck :)

Looking after the Nets is a bit difficult because of injuries.

man nets owe you something... and please don´t force my poor teammanager into another game 7 heartbreaker.
 :lol2:
Thanks to both of you for helping out....it's burning me up that, being away and only having a handful of minutes at a PC at a time, that I cant really sit down and enjoy what might be my best playoff in all my FBB seasons  :bash: I am sending a round 3 DC to you Pacers, so you're both off the hook. Thanks again.

Looked like a couple of good series - and again, without too much time to scan through things, I can say that Mike Gminski loves the playoffs, Milner is a beast, and my depth has really helped stem the tide through injury patches. Milner put up a triple double in game three against the Celts, and it was a team effort in the pivotal game two win in beantown. Great series, Tom.

Looking forward to the challenge that the Pacers present, but am not looking forward to the Indy homecourt advantage. I'm anticipating a seven game series, and hope to squeak one out to make a finals appearance. That would be a nice progression.

rd 3 part 1 is up...

boy do the nets have some fire power. first game was already an OT game and i had to be near perfect to battle that out.
milner is a monster but at least he can´t defend butler either.

i found out that we have some php files for the POs. If somebody is interested in the last mins of his game just post here. i will search for it.
for example the deciding game against magic last round was a 1 pt win in game 5. But i would never have imagined the scenario that happened. Just look at the line for the last seconds:

Quarter: 4  Time Remaining: 0:24  Pacers 75,  Magic 73
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pacers ball:

Jim Finley inbounds the ball to Alphonse Butler
Alphonse Butler brings the ball over the timeline.
Alphonse Butler shoots from the right wing.
Not good.
Jim Finley(Pacers) gets the rebound.

Jim Finley drives to the right wing.
Jim Finley passes the ball to Caleb Anderson (Right wing).
Caleb Anderson shoots from the right wing.
It's Good.
Jim Finley gets the assist.
Jim Finley now has one assist for the game.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Quarter: 4  Time Remaining: 0:07  Pacers 77,  Magic 73
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Magic ball:

Jacquez Holton inbounds the ball to William Brice
William Brice passes the ball to Carmelo Anthony (Right wing).
Carmelo Anthony shoots a three-pointer from the right wing.
He is fouled by Jim Finley.
The basket is good.
William Brice gets the assist.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Quarter: 4  Time Remaining: 0:01  Pacers 77,  Magic 76
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Magic ball:

Carmelo Anthony will shoot one free throw.
The first free throw is not good.
Alphonse Butler(Pacers) gets the rebound.

Final Score - Pacers 77, Magic 76

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Player of the Game: PG William Brice - Magic

Pacers Leaders:
Points: LeBron James - 20
Rebounds: Jim Finley - 15
Assists: Alphonse Butler - 7

Magic Leaders:
Points: Carmelo Anthony - 21
Rebounds: Jeff Robertson - 16
Assists: William Brice - 9
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You can be sure that i let finley run wind mill sprints till the next day...
can you imagine your C stepping out with 1 sec remaining and 4pts ahead to challenge a meaningless 3, foul him and give him a chance for 4 pt play which would put them into OT...

Holy crap!

Kelvin Ransey drops 43 in BOTH of the first two games (the first one pulling in a triple double in the process) against "defensive stud" Eddie Uner.

Sonics up 2-1, but the Jazz are still in it for sure.

Good luck the rest of the way Jazz.

I wouldn't mind seeing the details of some of the last plays of our first and last games, Pacers. Good idea!
Looking very much like it's going to be a heck of a series - you've got the lead, and we both have one-road win so far - not so good for me. Balanced attack from the Pacers, and my wings are having a tough time containing them. Good luck over the next handful of games!
Speaking of which, Pacers - please check your PM's.

can't believe who got there. no, i'm happy for both teams but Pacers-Jazz ???

Jazz, btw are a great example of consistency, winning exactly 50 games for the 3rd straight season. They deserved to be here. And with homecourt plus a 2-0 season series they own the Pacers. so my prediction: Jazz in 6.

Good luck ... and may the best win.

Well, congrats Pacers. A hard fought series with your four wins being all relatively close, and two going into an extra frame. I now regret not pounding the ball inside abit more to try and go at Lebron and your bigs a bit more, but I don't know if it would have mattered - not sure you were going to be stopped anyway. Jazz and Pacers should be a quality series - good luck to both teams, but I am going to pull for the team that knocked me out .

Ah well, good luck Jazz!

finals are up...

both teams could steal 1 game on the road...
pacers are the better rebounding team and got a slight edge at the big position thanks to shane
jazz are forcing an incredible amount of TOs and their pg is really tough to handle.
looks like this series will be a long one.
the rest of the finals will be simmed tomorrow or as soon as jazz send me their DC.

i found out that we have some php files for the POs. If somebody is interested in the last mins of his game just post here. i will search for it.

can you put the PBP files (for my Nets series) into the boxscores folder (like i do in DJSL). appreciate it

no idea how to do it but if you send me a guide i will try my best.

zip 'em up and e-mail to me, and I'll put them online.

I'll write a tool to do it later if there's demand for it.

Will the lottery be decided today after the last part of the finals is simmed?

After the last part of the finals has been simmed, and after extension offers are in.

finals are done. As expected it was a 7 games series. Jazz took the lead with 2 wins in a row but pacers stroke back and won the next 2.
MVP was Butler a guy i really got cheap in the offseason. :bounce:
It was a hard fought series between two similar teams. Well done job Jazz and good luck to everyone next year.
Since most of my guys are back in the FA pool and i don´t expect them all to resign to me, i will entertain offers for LB James and Shane Wedge.
Yea pacers are already in rebuilding mode.

not surprised at all... not surprised. pacers are a really really good team.

hats off to commish ;) definitely had a close series against the jazz, but still managed to pull a massacre against the jazz on the final game.

this were easily the weakest playoffs in a decade or so, with no team showing any special skill and more or less any of the top 6-10 teams capeable of winning it all. Nobody dominated and every team had glaring weaknesses.

Still, you have to win it first, so congratulations Pacers for pulling it. Marvellous run.

(too bad I came just a tiny bit short on aquiring LBJ before the season)

(and too bad i lost those two road games to the Nets by a combined 4, feel like this should have been my season)

Now let's get on with the offseason.

Glad I lost to the eventual champs. Congrats Pacers on quite the one-year turnaround success story, and an impressive come from behind win. Great season and series as well, Jazz.

Bring on the off-season. Time for all of us to put Tom in his place - repairing all the "glaring weaknesses" on our rosters. I don't know about the rest of you, but the Nets locker room will have that quote pinned on our locker room corkboard. As if we need any additional motivation to beat the Celtics  :moon:

btw, until now i could tell everybody: hey, the SSBA Pacers i learned everything i know about sim leagues from ... the main reason i have no title here. not anymore ...

Meh. I'm looking for a rivalry....and Boston is a pretty logical one for me - so I'm not too concerned about "pushing it". There's a reason I wouldn't trade your pick you know
