Title: Sim 3 Up
Post by: CelticsGM on April 16, 2007, 04:36:00 PM
And now to something completely different ...

that old Monty Python Flying Circus slogan is exactly what sim 3 will be for the Boston Celtics. As promised during the preseason this sim will field the first "All 2nd rounder" starting lineup in league history.

C Jerome Veen (#3 round 2 in 2016)
PF Darren Tillis (#11 round 2 in 2019)
SF David Thirdkill (#12 round 2 in 2019)
SG Travis Arizin (#13 round 2 in 2019)
PG Darius Perry (#1 round 2 in 2008)
backing up the forward spots will be former #1 round 2 pick Dylan Pettit (who is nursing a sore tight thus only seeing limited action).

The five opponents to face this illustrous squad will be the Chicago Bulls, New Jersey Nets, Miami Heat, Atlanta Hawks, and the Portland Trail blazers. So let's bring on the real D-league games ...

Are you allowed to do that?  You cannot bench your three best players for no reasons.  Those 2nd round players lineup are for preseason.

No, you can;t bench your 3 best players for NO reason. He wants to see what that lineup can do, and there is no rule against that.

that would be the first time a playoff team is accused of tanking
 :lol2:

i specifically picked this sim with only 5 games because i don't rule out losing a game or two and i don't want to lose too much ground on the division leaders. And I would be very surprised if Tyler, Woolridge and Strait (together with Perry) wouldn't get the most minutes nearly every game anyway ...

No, this is something i wanted to do for 8 seasons now, and finally i have the personnel to give it a try ...

Why are the Timberwolves ahead of me in the standings?

It is a mystery :o

Another really solid sim for the raps going 6-3.

Equally solid sim for the Nets, with a .667 win percentage! Rock on!

Barely squeaked by the "Boston 2nd-ics" , and had a road loss by just two. Seem to be playing a more balanced game with soon-to-be departed Jeremy Munson playing less, which is off, but a fact none-the-less. Two sims to go until the reinforcements arrive.

3-3, better than a losing sim I suppose

I might have to deal my team away

Ahh,

sim 1 Ahye out for 4 sims

sim 2 Yao and Reuben out early in the sim

sim 3 Bolinger out for 3 sims, Yao was out of the sim again in game 2.

still we manage to stay #2 and close to #1...

nice, but damn.

Im really impressed how this team does well this 1st 3 sims, main frontcourt guy gets injured we do great, our other 2 frontcourt starters get out for sim 2 and without entire frontcourt we still manage to have a winning sim, now in sim 3 our starting PG and Yao again get injured and we-re still there !!

This team will be unstoppable for everyone in POs with little luck considering injury's.

Game 1 @Mavs 91-106 Lost to our #1 rival, nothing to worry about, Phelps really amazes me this season, he never played better like he does now as #2 option alongside Yao. He became a real 3-2 threat.

Game 2 vs Grizz 91-70 Phelps led with 24/11, Buehler close with 19/11, after Steven's 25 rebs last sim, now Andresen collected 24 together with 14 pts and 3 blks, amazing, this team has something.
Yao got injured again dammit.

Game 3 @Cavs 93-122, Disaster, with 1 frontcourt player playing its no wonder, ill have to add 1 more to roster after all this shit.

Game 4 vs Pistons 101-96 Phelps led with 31~7~5, Buehler 21/12 is the biggest pimp in SSBA history.

Game 5 @Wiz 71-106...Thats how much it hurts to have no front available there. Buehler finished with 23/12, the rest sucked except Phelps.

Game 6 @2nd Rounders 84-96 Now this hurts too much + Bolinger out for some time.

Game 7 @Magic 87-76, Phelps with interesting 19/7/7/7*tos perfomance.

Now its time to heal the wounds of those left at roster somehow and keep competing for #1 in West.

Wow, other than Yao, all the awards went to PGs.  What's with FBB's love fest with PGs?

lol at my team when robertson arrives.

Melo + Robertson + Dwight = 66.1 FGAPG and my team is shooting only 82.7FGAPG. lol

ok, we did it. thanks again for league management to allow it.

Guess what, my 2nd-rounders squad MOVED UP ONE SPOT in the standings. Courtesy of a 2-3 sim we passed the Pistons for 6h in the East. Nice.

Not surprisingly we did what young teams usually do: lose on the road and win at home. In fact, the first part was expected (and the beatings pretty convincing) but the 2nd part came as somewhat of a surprise, as two playoff teams were the victims.

Beating the Heat was especially nice, since my 2nd rounders all played 24+ minutes, thus were a big part of success.
(and even without Yao, the Blazers are a squad that the very next day won in Orlando)

A more in-depth analysis will follow (especially on the performance of Jerome "Baby-Shaq" Veen ...)
 :hail:

And while it was fun, i guess that's it with such experiments for this season.

WOW!

I won 3 games. Granted 1 was against the Lakers but 2 over Detroit ain't bad...

Terrance is injured too with a broken skull... the Gods are against me!

Hm....

I'm 1-9 in my last ten.  Definitely a year or two away.

Beating a #2 seed, that one made our day. Lots of happy faces around here ...

just to make sure it's not typo. you mean
"Definitely a year or two away."
or
"Definitely a year to throw away." ?
