Ronald Murray Timberwolves Trade: Michael Olowokandi 2006 Minnesota First Round Pick Sonics agree...get a pick, and get bigger. Plus, Olowokandi becomes trade bait. Title: Sonics / Wolves Trade... - processed Post by: Keith on March 22, 2005, 01:39:16 PM I agree.
Title: Sonics / Wolves Trade... - processed Post by: NetsGM on March 22, 2005, 01:43:30 PM Interesting.
Yeah, you get a pick, but it's virtually worthless. In fact, since it's 4-year guaranteed contract it would have negative value in my book. Candi's the better player, but his contract situation should be interesting in the offseason. And he's older. For the wolves, they basically fill one hole and create another (while losing the guaranteed 1st rounder in the process). It all depends on if he can get someone in free agency. There are comparable centers in free agency if he can get one. Title: Sonics / Wolves Trade... - processed Post by: SonicsGM on March 22, 2005, 01:47:51 PM I did this deal because I feal that it will be easier to ship Olowokandi out during the year than Murray with his contract. So, I look for it to be at the end...Murray for a couple of picks.
Title: Sonics / Wolves Trade... - processed Post by: GoldenStateGM on March 22, 2005, 01:57:32 PM Interesting...
Rafer and Flip are a nice PG/SG combo (a little small though), and the Wolves were missing a SG... But the only center on the roster is now Jake Voskul. Big hole a center now, unless another move is made. Sonics get Kandi and a late pick, but want to move Kandi (who is a nice defensive option at center) Cannot wait to see what else you guys have under your sleeves... Title: Sonics / Wolves Trade... - processed Post by: GoldenStateGM on March 22, 2005, 01:58:41 PM Well Wolves, I hope you keep Flip for a while..
I am sick of seeing him on the trade block... Title: Sonics / Wolves Trade... - processed Post by: Keith on March 22, 2005, 02:05:06 PM Quote from: GoldenStateGM Cannot wait to see what else you guys have under your sleeves... nothing right now I am probally waiting for the FA to pick up a center, but i wasnt wanting to see what kandi was going to ask for next off season Title: Sonics / Wolves Trade... - processed Post by: GoldenStateGM on March 22, 2005, 02:14:16 PM Quote from: WolvesGM Quote from: GoldenStateGM Cannot wait to see what else you guys have under your sleeves... nothing right now I am probally waiting for the FA to pick up a center, but i wasnt wanting to see what kandi was going to ask for next off season Yikes... that is one ugly, ugly Greed rating... I feel your pain... (aka JRich) Title: Sonics / Wolves Trade... - processed Post by: RaptorsGM on March 22, 2005, 04:14:30 PM Yeah, that JRich contract is terrible.
Title: Sonics / Wolves Trade... - processed Post by: GoldenStateGM on March 22, 2005, 04:20:47 PM Quote from: RaptorsGM Yeah, that JRich contract is terrible. Well, thats just punching man while he is down... Actually, wo of the best things about JRich... with him, I will always be in the top 10 of the league in rebounding, since he is a SG that averages 7 rebounds a game. And he hit 45% form the field, which is not too shabby for a guard.. If his outside shooting goes up, he will be a great offensive player. but his contract still sucks..lol Title: Sonics / Wolves Trade... - processed Post by: RaptorsGM on March 22, 2005, 04:26:48 PM Well, I dont mean to hit below the belt. JRich warrented a big contract because he is a good, if not great. THis is a way you could make sure you kept him. In your situatuon, I probably would have done the same.
Title: Sonics / Wolves Trade... - processed Post by: GoldenStateGM on March 22, 2005, 04:28:54 PM Just kidding... I knew I would have to pay him, especially after he made the All-Star team... He is a 2nd tier shooting guard now, but I knew I would lose him in free agency... Almost like what he and Troy did this year for real in Golden State.
Title: Sonics / Wolves Trade... - processed Post by: RaptorsGM on March 22, 2005, 04:29:47 PM You did the right thing. Who cares about cap space, if you are winning.
Title: Sonics / Wolves Trade... - processed Post by: GoldenStateGM on March 22, 2005, 04:33:10 PM Just get ready to call me the New York Knicks of SSBA... But I will try the whole winning thing too.. lol
Title: Sonics / Wolves Trade... - processed Post by: RaptorsGM on March 22, 2005, 04:34:36 PM Lol. Ouch. I don't understand why anyone would want to inherit that team...but what surprises me to most os our KnicksGM's lack of trading. You'd think some contenders would be looking at his roster.

Well, you have the ultimate challenge of fixing them... But I have never received a response back fom the Knicks GM yet... Title: Sonics / Wolves Trade... - processed Post by: RaptorsGM on March 22, 2005, 04:42:45 PM I know he's active, we talked quite a bit last season.
And wow, this is the first time in a while I have scanned the Wovles Roster, and that Rafer Alston contracts is HUGE. Thank God I was able to trade him, because that contract would have sucked for me, but it doesn't really matter for the Wolves, them being so far over the cap already. Title: Sonics / Wolves Trade... - processed Post by: GoldenStateGM on March 22, 2005, 04:45:01 PM It is big... But with his stats, he should be about worth it. Why his numbers do not equate to his stats is a mystery to me, though....
Title: Sonics / Wolves Trade... - processed Post by: RaptorsGM on March 22, 2005, 04:45:25 PM He played behind Sam Cassell for most of last year :)
Title: Sonics / Wolves Trade... - processed Post by: NetsGM on March 22, 2005, 04:48:04 PM His stats took a serious nosedive after he played behind cassell.
I think he was putting up like 12/7 before the trade. Title: Sonics / Wolves Trade... - processed Post by: RaptorsGM on March 22, 2005, 04:49:34 PM 12 and 7 it was. Which was 10th in the L in assists. But getting the 14th pick back was worth it.
Title: Sonics / Wolves Trade... - processed Post by: GoldenStateGM on March 22, 2005, 04:49:43 PM Untrue.
He averaged 35 mpg, mostly on your roster... And hit 42% overall and 39% from three, with only 6 apg... 3:1 A:TO ratio, though. But with B+'s in out and handle, I would have expected better assists and percentages. Title: Sonics / Wolves Trade... - processed Post by: NetsGM on March 22, 2005, 04:50:51 PM he averaged 35 mpg, but most of that was at the 2-guard spot (where he played horribly) after the trade.
when he was on the raps it was about 12/7 Title: Sonics / Wolves Trade... - processed Post by: RaptorsGM on March 22, 2005, 04:51:32 PM It was 11.9 and 7.1 at the time of trade, I believe.
Title: Sonics / Wolves Trade... - processed Post by: GoldenStateGM on March 22, 2005, 04:55:17 PM Well, then, placing him with Garnett might get him up to 8-8.5 apg...
But Flip is going to have a hard time then, if Alston did at SG, I think... Flip is only an inch taller and another 15 lbs over Alston... Title: Sonics / Wolves Trade... - processed Post by: RaptorsGM on March 22, 2005, 05:25:56 PM Yeah, but Flip is meant to be a SG. That's his natural position.
Title: Sonics / Wolves Trade... - processed Post by: NetsGM on March 22, 2005, 07:30:47 PM flip played sg all year i believe.
Title: Sonics / Wolves Trade... - processed Post by: RaptorsGM on March 22, 2005, 07:31:45 PM Yeah, adn Rafer is a PG. So I would expect the Wolves to have a hell-of-a-team.
