Title: Mock Draft - Tuesday Version
Post by: GoldenStateGM on March 22, 2005, 10:02:48 AM
Now that I am draftpick-less, I do not have to lie at all.. lol
With all the crazy trades, I figured another mock before the draft might be good.

1.  Atlanta Hawks - Tanner Houbreg - locked in
2. New Jersey Nets - Garrert Pettit - locked in
3.  Detroit Pistons - Oscar Ferry -  locked in
4. Chicago Bulls - Emmanual Griffin - first pick not locked in.  Slight chance they will go for a PG here, but will likely wait for the 8th pick in the PG rich draft.
5. Indiana Pacers - Lorenzo Ellis - biggest wildcard of the draft right now.  Team needs at PG, SG, and C, in that order.  BPA is either Ellis or Diddle...
6.  Toronto Raptors - Mason Mercer - Team with no significant holes and championship aspirations.  Big free agaents for next year are Finley and Cassell, and the BPA are Diddle and Schenk/Mercer.  Mercer gives them the top PG combo in the league this year. Diddle a huge possibility here.
7.  San Antonio Spurs - Alvin Schenk.  Teams needs inside scoring at PF/C, and a PG.  With no good scoring bigs left, they go for the PG.
8. Chicago Bulls - Bob Diddle - First team to get royally screwed.  They needed a PG, and the top 3 went in the 3 picks before their pick.  Hoping the Raptors take Diddle.  Also, Diddle is BPA at this spot.  Look for a trade???  Barry can play PG in pinch (B- handle), and they may shoot for a PG in free agency.  Also remember... Meyers has a C+ handle.. can he move to the point???
9.  Cleveland Cavaliers - Jamal Del Negro - the next team to get screwed in the PG search.  Need a PG with a handle. Also could use a C, and back-ups at every position.  Also known to want to move Carmello.  Will most liekly look to improve the PG spot through free agency.  Jamal is BPA here.
10.  Detroit Pistons - Phillip Meyers - big need at SG, and the BPA is a SG.  Good outside, bad befense, but A potential.
11.  Memphis Grizzlies - Ladon Curry - Needs at C and shooting guard, and no good C's are available...  Curry already a good outside shooter, but little potential.
12.  New York Knicks - Ethan Terpening - need offense from the PF spot, and need a SF to back-up/replace Tim Thomas.  Strickland is also a possibility here.  Terpening's (B- inside) in a SF gives him the nod.
13.  Denver Nuggets - Jeremiah Kieta - SF and PG are needs here, and there is no cap space to fill the positions this year.  Andre Miller is the best free agent PG available, and will get some big offers, a question if the Nuggets will match or not.  Tough decision for them here...  Going with the only PG left with potential and above a C handle.  Other draft pundits do not seem to be fans of his...  Mikel Chamberlain a good possibility here as well.

good job, if your mock turns out to be accurate then we might have a lot of trades from picks 5-9 or so..

Good point...  Right now, 2006 is the year of the PG.. lots of good ones available in the draft and in free agency...  And a lot of teams are in need...

TJ Ford is not a bad stopgap player... B handle, and 5 assists in 24 mpg...  that is very impressive.

yea, I think I hurt my opinion of him in my efforts to tank this year...w/a full-time starting job he might be around 7/8/2 per game

He will not score for you, but he will rack up the assists...  And with Tanner and Swift, he just needs to be able to feed then the ball...  I actually think he will do pretty well for you, especially if he improves at all..

I think you're bang on with the 6th pick.

Diddle is a big possibilty at 6, but so is a PG.

A week ago if you told me that I would regret having to draft Diddle, I would have virtual slapped you.  But I need a PG, Diddle is no slouch but I would still have alot of work to do with my roster

Man, Diddle is a great player, but he will likely fall to 7th, maybe even 8th or 9th...

That would really suck. Like the Hawks would forget to send in his pick. I can see it now... With the first pick in the 2006 SSBA draft, Atlanta selects Stephan Fox.
