Title: Mock Draft - Monday Version....
Post by: SonicsGM on March 21, 2005, 04:12:51 PM
Here is what I see happening...

1. Atlanta Hawks - Tanner Haubregs, C - Big Time Stud with Potential

2. New Jersey Nets - Garrett Pettitt, SG - Works perfectly with Okafor

3. Detroit Pistons - Oscar Ferry, C - Possibly the best in the draft, but that potential knocks him down to #3 where Detroit is happy to pick up Ferry.

4. Chicago Bulls - Bob Diddle, SG - Outside gunner with nice defense.

5. Indana Pacers - Emanuel Griffin, C - Best player available, potential stud.

6. Toronto Raptors - Lorenzo Ellis, PG - Point Guard with the best overall package, and has potential.

7. San Antonio Spurs - Alvin Schenk, PG - Outside Shot, Defense, and can handle the ball.

8. Chicago Bulls - Jamal Del Negro, SF - Already picked up their SG in Diddle, JDN is Lorenzo Ellis without the ball handling.

9. Cleveland Cavaliers - Mason Mercer, PG - Possibly the best PG in the draft, his size drops him to Cleveland with the ninth pick.

10. Detroit Pistons - Phillip Meyers, SG - Project pick.  Decent outside shot with A potential.  Will grow alongside Ferry.

11. Memphis Grizzlies - LaDon Curry, SG - Better, right now, than Meyers.  However, his D potential drops him a little.

12. New York Knicks - Ethan Terpening, SF - Fills a hole at SF with a player who can score and defend.  The potential keeps him out of the top-ten.

13. Denver Nuggets - Nathanial Van Exel, PG - Defensive point guard with A potential.  If Miller leaves via FA, Van Exel will probably step in and start.

14. San Antonio Spurs - Kyle Hobson, PF - Drops like a rock in the draft due to the PGs and Cs.  San Antonio adds a decent scorer and defender here.

15. Washington Wizards - Troy Havlicek, PG - Solid PG is a steal with the 15th pick in this draft.

It's excellent, well done.

BTW, those of you with picks 7-10, I'm interested in moving down using my 6th pick.

And now with the trade the Bulls and I just made, they are just about guaranteed to take Griffin at 4, and a PG at 8.

Yeah, too bad Griffin isn't gonna drop to me anymore, because he was potential stud, but now I get either Diddle or Ellis.

Diddle I can groom for after Finley leaves, and Ellis I can groom for after Cassell leaves.

Unless someone takes the pick off my hands :)

I know, I have made a ton of trades.

I was 99% set on my team, the Nets come along offering up Boozer.

So then I have to trade for a PG. Bam. Cassell.

Now, I want to trade the 6th to get some decent help. :)

Well, you went form building to the future to playing for now...  Those picks just gave you the ability...

Boozer is a nice addition...  At this point, you have almost too many offensive options...  Boozer, Carter, Finley, and Cassel...

And Don't forget 18ppg Mihm. :)

Well, I'm building for NOW, and the FUTURE.

I mean, Mihm is 25, Boozer is 22, Finley is 31 (good for 5 more, IF I want to sign him), Vince is 27 and Cassell is 34.

However, I have only 33 million commited to cap next year, which gives me about 10-11 million to work with.

Your offseason next year will be major, with Cassell and Finley coming off...

Yeah, it will be great. I hope Finley doesn't ask for a max contract, because I won't give him that, but I expect a big drop in numbers for him this year, as I he my 3rd or 4th option now.

So I'll be looking for a PG.

Doesn't look like Chicago will be drafting Diddle with the 4th pick now...

Don't forget to add in room for picks when figuring your cap for next year.

I did that. I have 30 between Vince, Boozer and Mihm.

I don't expect Marcus Banks to be there, love him as much as i do.

So then the 6th pick get what? 1.5 mil? and the 2nd rounder get 500K?

So Raptors....if you don't sign any of your own free agents you will have $10-11 mil in cap space.  Enough for 1 good free agent next year.  And I wouldn't count on as many good players hitting the market as you think.  Many will resign with their existing teams.

I had approximately the same amount of cap space this year.  And after seeing most of the desirable free agents resign I decided to go the way of the draft.  So I traded Murray, Snow, Johnson, Udrih, the #6, 2 seconds and my 07 & 08 firsts for Jackson, George, Hassell, Williams the 7, 14, 24 & 25 picks.  Every player I got is an upgrade over who I gave up.  And I have enough depth in this draft to have a solid young team for a few years.

Well, Yeah, I will have 10-11 million. I will resign Finley if he asks for a resonable contract.

But I won't be looking for Max players. I'll still have Boozer, Carter, Mihm, and another player I take with the 6th pick on my roster.

I'm going to be looking for decent role players.

I wouldn't be all that surprised to see me resign Ostertag and Finley, if they are resonable.

I don't need another max player.

Well, that's true... With Carter and Boozer, you already have your top two options for years...  But Finley and Cassell will both be on the downside of their careers, particularly Cassell.

Title: Mock Draft - Monday Version....
Post by: RaptorsGM on March 22, 2005, 04:11:14 PM
I expect Cassell to have very good numbers this year. And as a plus, I will probably draft a PG at the 6th spot, meaning that I can let Sam go after next year.

And Finley will be resigned if he is resonable. His Greed Ratings is only 9, while his play for winner is 100, and I expect to be a winner.

Well, I hope you're right. I just want that SSBA ring.

I built a Championship-calibar team in SSBA 1. Just never had a shot after Twan f'ed it all up.
