Title: GM of the year
Post by: RaptorsGM on March 19, 2005, 06:11:56 PM
Time to nominate, and vote.

It's a tough one this year. The Championship team, the Heat, deserve consideration, but don't get my vote, because he started with Shaq.

The Sonics were the surprise team of the year, but also don't get my vote, because they traded away all their Finals' team, when the finals were still going on.

I'm gonna vote Hornets.

VOTES:

Warriors: 3
Hornets: 1
Raptors:1
Heat: 1
Sixers: 1

Who cares if I dealt my players while I was in the championship?  The point is, I started with a bunch of good players, kept my financial flexibility, gained a ton of future picks, and made the finals.

Other than that, I vote for Golden State.  He did a ton to improve his club.

I agree with the RapsGm on that one.

I traded one member while the team was in the finals.  But the deal didn't occur until after the season.

Yes, the heat started with shaq, but he added kobe, then had the stones to trade kobe for a group that led him to a championship.  he gets my vote.

I'd vote for Raps, but most of the deals he made won't come to help him until next year, with the draft picks.

You probably made the 2 best trades of the season (and also one of the worst ;) ).  IMO that will put you in for GM of the year NEXT year.  But I can't give you the award for deals that haven't paid off yet.

Which two trades?

The one with the Celtics probably, but which other one?

And I know you think that was a bad trade, but I've used it well. I turned Hoffa and Bosh into Mihm and the 5th pick.

The trade that got you the celtics pick and the trade that got you mihm and the 5th.

and yes, it was a bad trade.

Like I said earlier, I will GUARANTEE you that hoffa doesn't have an F potential.

You could have gotten Pavel for much cheaper.

Tanking on purpose doesn't get you GM of the Year ;)

Tanner is no Shaw or KG either.

He's not gonna be the MVp.

You're probably right, but the main reason for the trade was to get Finley for Jalen Rose.

And Mihm and the 5th doesnt happen without the other trade.

I think that trade I made with you wil lturn out to be pretty sweet too :)

Well, being in running, I really cannot vote...  But thanks for the votes of confidence :)

My first trade was trading Pietrus for Collison... Collison has been great off the bench for me. I do not know how many teams have a B+ inside scoring coming off their bench...

I ended up trading Troy Murphy for Vlad Radman and a 1st round pick, and Vlad was the reason the Warriors were able to win against the Timberwolves.  He played Garnett very, very well...  and that trade enabled...

The trade that keeps my team in the playoffs for the next 5 years...  2 non-- lottery draft picks and salary cap relief for Brent Barry and Ben Wallace.

Not a whole lot of trades, and my best scorer scored only 18 ppg...  But the Warriors go 9 men deep, and each position has a good mix of offense and defense...
