Title: Sim 6 has been completed
Post by: CelticsGM on February 21, 2007, 04:23:57 AM
report from the Arlington Gazette weekend edition: the basketball week in review

Boston. In a series of completely unrelated incidents more than a dozen basketball players from the SSBA league were injured.

The whole mess started with Kenneth Rivera from the SLS Jazz pulling his groin on the first day of play action and missing the complete sim. But it didn't stop here. The Mavs got a big blow to their title run when Emeka Okafor fractured hi hip in a nasty fall while plaing in Sacramento. X-rays were negative but the medical staff believes he might miss up to 26 days of action.
On the second day, former league MVP Yao Ming declared himself unavailable for the next 9 days, a time span running past the upcoming All Star weekend. Sonics management was utterly disappointed after already promoting him for their first All Star appearance in a long time.

The following day, superb shooter Charlie Phelps from the Trailblazers left the team to get treatment for severe depression, right after his dog "Cherio" had died when it was hit by a frisbee disk. He might be available after the All Star weekend but a league source confirmed that it was possible he would miss the rest of the season. They were REALLY close.
For the next two days all games ended without further casualties, but it was made public that SSBA head coach Alex Rinehart slipped on a wet spot in the Clippers practice facility a few days earlier and might miss the team's next 3 games.

On day 56 the Pacers learned that C Jaime Ruiz bruised his hip at the local car wash and will be out for slightly more than a week. He was fined by the team as well, though no Pacers representative was available for comment.
Just two days before the midseason All Star weekend kicks off Chicago Bulls Doyle Fee broke his right index finger while pointing at an unidentified teammate and will be unavailable for the next 9 days. On the same night Lutz Gerstl of the Hawks inflammed his appendix during a team barbecue event abd will be out for the next 9 days. The team cook has been fired.

And on the final day of this sim, Terry Przybilla from the Rockets went down with a sprained wrist.

Legue officials are trying to determine if some external influence was responsible for these incidents but declined to comment during investigations. We will keep you updated

Newsflash
Stay tuned for some in depth reports from sim 6 play action as well.

Nothing new in the standings at midseason, with Cavs leading he East and the league at 31-9. The Magic hold the Atlantic lead, the Blazers still top the Pacific, and the Spurs lead an unbelievably strong midwest division (the 7th place team there is just one game behind the 2nd place Sonics from the Pacific div, where we might see only the division winner getting a playoff berth.)

So stay tuned ... and discuss.

another indifferent sim beat the hornets and the blazers and lost to cavs, hawks and sonics
since i had no home game i will call it a good sim .
peters continue to score 20+ pts outplaying almost everyone on his position while shooting a good %  8).
new addition keogan played solid defense and had 1 POTG award against ... surpirse... his old team
shane had also some solid games and 1 good again ... surprise against his old team facing yao
maybe FBB has a feature for motivation against former teams  :lol2:??

3-4. Still, a team that's hard to read.

Funny note is that neither Kevin McHale (12.7ppg) nor Chris Cho (20+ppg) made the rook-soph game, but 3rd string PF Gary Macauley - who had played a grand total of 1 minute in his career before this past sim - did.

On the brightside, Cho dropped 51 on my team..

Some of the highlights and glimpses of the future;

- Chambers got pissed on LA's comments and droped 21pts, 11rebs on them
- Zeke with 21pts, 16as vs the Clippers
- Zeke with monstrous 33pts and 18as, 7rebs performance against the lousy Celtics
- Zeke with 33 & 11 vs Pistons
- Zeke with 28 & 8 & 9 vs the Warriors
- Magic with 35pts, 4as, 5rebs vs Lakers

Light sim.   Started with a tough loss to the Blazers with a couple new guys and changes to the rotation.  Then reeled off 4 straight wins...3 of them by 15 points or more.  Still had victories over division rivals Mavs (w/o Emeka), Wolves and Nuggets.

Need to study the rotations as some players who were not on the DC played and others on the DC didn't play as many minutes as I would like.

Gragg was invited to the 3 pt shootout in which he faded in the finals to Pettit.  No all stars for the west leading Spurs as Uner was traded at the start of the sim.  Very balanced team with different players stepping up nightly.

Lutz is already on the big side at 6'6 245.  He needs to lay off the cow for a bit.  Lol, good write up though, it was entertaining.

Nuggets are faltering, 5-5 in their last 10. Still sit with a record well above .500 but still 7th in their conference. I just hope to maintain the health of my key players for the rest of the year so I can make my first playoff appearance.

Buck Williams is playing tired, however he lit up the Rookie/Sophmore game, leading the Rooks to victory receiving the MVP. Gminski was also the top Sophmore scorer.

Is this sim from day 51-60?  I don't think Okafor was injured from previous sim because injuries is the first thing I check.  On the first day of the sim Okafor didn't play a minute, out for the whole sim and 17 more days?

Did you notice that he played in the big game?

And Celts, I'm kinda curious - did Macauley get misplaced when my DC was entered....he sure played alot (for him) at the 3, and I didn't list him there.

Edit to add: I'm very glad that the East is sputtering along this year....I'm in a pretty comfortable spot right now - 5th - with some good distance between the 9th place team - cuz something still isnt jelling.

Can I get an answer for this?

but i agree, not only is this WAY too long for the average student, I forgot to add "... during pregame warm-ups ..."

I'm confused, are you saying that he injured in pregame warm-ups?  We in Dallas don't do pregame warm-ups. :bash:  How can I player injured for not even playing one second of basketball?  I know FBB will have you played one minute if even you're on the court for one second.

interesting point.

It's not that I haven't seen guys getting injured without any on-the-court action, but the question is "HOW" and "WHY" ? I know for sure that FBB doesn't get a player injured without him having a game that day, so no practice injuries. Basically warm-ups is the only explanation i came up with ...

Im back !!

After that disastrous 1-6 sim, we went 4-4 this time, much better and i cant believe we managed to keep the lead, after promising start getting some gap, now we-ll obviously fight until the end to keep this spot, hopefully we-ll be able to manage it if no major injurys happen in future. Its good to be back and see the team on top and playing good, altough 5-10 in last 2 sims worries a bit, but there-ve been some injury-s as well

Phelps did great for West, started, and had 13/8/3 1blk on 6-11 in 23mins, Boozer didnt have a good game, 1-8 only for 6pts and 8rebs.

Phelps, now a 2nd straight time ASG was 2nd in dunks too, after leading
in round1.

Livingstone finished in rd2 of 3pt shootout.

Nice ASG Weekend for Blazers.

what Cavs did get right is that a title won't come from the midwest.
what he did miss though is that it won't come from the central either.

depth alone can only do so much
