The magic have joined the Suns as being over the hard cap.  There are also many others that are close:
Over the cap:
- Bucks (less than $1 million away)
- Spurs (1.5 million away)
- Bulls (1.9 million away)
- Sonics (1.9 million away)
- Mavs (2.1 million away)

There really is no such thing as overpaying for a year when you aren't close to the hardcap.

with all these changes in the structure of the east, raptors and hornets blow up, aging of some other teams, the east seems to be more wide open than ever.  I'm excited to see TC and how the teams are each team in the east looks after that.

Stupid AK takes a 2 year offer instead of a 4  :bash:

Guess its all 1 year contracts from here on out and the Mavs can thank their lucky stars that I was shut out in Free Agency and am doomed to the lottery again as they have my pick.

I have never had a good free agency in any of my leagues yet.

star players will almost always take more money per year for less years over more years for less money per year.

Bah, terrible. Was hoping for a playoff this year.

At least no one can accuse me of tanking anymore.

Thats why I try not to build through Fa because I know i would either overpay for players or get no one a all.

I've been trying to build through the draft with adding one key FA or two over the past 3 seasons, but squat. Now I just have a very young team that will probably take 4 years to get to the playoffs.

I know.  I wasn't criticizing at all, just trying to explain.
Frankly, I thought your offered deal would have been overpaying.  I definitely wouldn't have offered more.

I agree I was overpaying. I was trying to maneuver because I thought Kings would try to overpay so I was going to use my team bank $ to buy out a year or 2. Or he probably would have retired anyways.

No love for the Jazz on Day 2, I'm really liking my new depth inside now with Duncan and Nelson and I have a good number of players with B potential too.

actually I start to feel bad for you, no joke. I would have loved to find out if your rebuilding project can work - which i doubted and still do. Neither in SSBA nor in LBA i've seen anything close to a competitive team yet, and we're in season 3 now.

But it's not your fault. Usually Magic and Isiah are a good starting point and 40million cap space just about perfect. Trade one of the kiddies for two good role players, get another star or two from FA and fill the roster with good backups. So far the plan, just the reality looks different ...

:-(

maybe you should join back to djsl, to keep you entertained while you sit out another season here.
i'll always keep a team open for you, and would love to welcome you back ...

Got Larry Demic for the Min not a bad pickup.  Should be able to find PT at PF.

Haha...no way. Not worried at all, not one bit. Everything is exactly as i planned. What? You think i had some big plans for this FA? You think i haven't checked this FA class one season ago? Absolutely no one fits my long term plans. I was just hoping for maybe several good singnings (frontcourt mainly) as it would be nice to make a playoff, a round or two. But it's not a priority. Everything is still exactly on course. 2 franchise players, i have 6 firts rn picks and i'll be a big FA player once again next year.

Just sit, watch and relax. 8)

I got AK which is good.

To be honest I don't even want him for 2 years, I will shorten his contract through the team bank.

Only reason I paid that much was to try and top what others could per year.

... by the way, he's on the block with everyone else!

I might have the worst team ever put down on paper in a sim league. I screwed up all of my FA bids in day 1, and after that there was really nothing left.  :(

well you do, but still you have lots of picks, money and a TOP 3 pick of yours in next 2 years + 2 more FA's, you should be happy with your rebuilding.

He should NOT. How can you be satisfied when you will field a "team" like the Hornets will this year.
Everyone wants to get the best team possible out on the court. Only Ivan is constantly happy to have a losing squad ...

Obviously;

HornetsGM = bad gm
KingsGM = bad gm
Celtics = amazing gm

no idea where you get your conclusions from, but try to READ what is posted.

In reference to the fact both didn't get any major FA signing despite a huge cap space, this was said:
Hornets: I screwed up all of my FA bids in day 1, and after that there was really nothing left.
Kings: Haha...no way. Not worried at all, not one bit. Everything is exactly as i planned

So apparently the Kings like having a team that will suck again and the Hornets not.

No correlation to any GMs skills was discussed here ...
... but at least you got both of us right. 2 out of 3 isn't bad at all ...
:-)

1) If you think one could rebuild it's team in through only one lousy FA then i don't know what to say you.
2) Patience is a virtue.

well you did it 2 seasons ago with Chandler, Gordon, Pietrus, etc. on 1 year contracts and you finished TOP 5 just to screw Warriors 1st rounder :)
